I like increasing the frequency to weekly, instead of monthly, across all the top lists. It would give more people exposure.

I hope that I am doing this right as I've never written to one of the forums before, so if I mess this up, please forgive me.

I have mixed feelings on whether the list of top stories/authors should be compiled on a monthly or a weekly basis. As it is now, it is hard to get a story included in this list, however, doesn't that mean that everyone will have to work harder, and thereby push their writing skills and stories to a higher standard to receive this honor? To have a story or your name published in this list now, is a real accomplishment and something to strive for and be proud of.

If done on a weekly basis, I agree it will give exposure to more authors, but aren't you risking lowering the standard? To carry this idea further, then why not do this on a daily basis? This would allow even more authors to be mentioned. If everyone is to be recognized this way, then what incentive is there for anyone to improve themselves? Wouldn't this be like giving every person running a race a gold ribbon, regardless of whether they finish first or last?
If you're feeling bored during this Covid-19 epidemic I’d like to suggest
you take a peek at a story I collaborated with SueBrasil, a brilliant author.
It's about a mistake in judgment a lady makes concerning a friend, based
on the hurtful words of someone that only thinks of himself. Will that
conniving person succeed in ruining a beautiful friendship, or will she see
through his lies? It's gradually creeping up towards the 30,000 mark
and we’d love any votes or hearing whatever comments you may wish
to make. It is listed in my profile under ‘FAVOURITES’ as Apologize.

I LOVE the idea about some poetry comps. I don't enter the story ones because they are not my forte. Unfortunately, I am not one of the three poets mentioned. I thought there were more than three on Lush. No offence intended to the three poets who are, exceptional poets in my opinion. ;)

Great first post Hopeful smile In my opinion, it wouldn't lower the standard because there is so much writing talent on Lush, that a lot of good writers don't get recognition at all. There are so many good stories and poems every month and very few spots on the lists.

Would increasing the number of people on the monthly home page lists be an idea that might work?

sorry. next time i'll list everyone on lush who's ever written a poem.

I was actually going to suggest that Princess Spriteness, but it would take up too much room and time.

That's fine for reading stories but you can't chat or use the forum. In an ideal world the full site would work fine across all platforms.

Speaking of mobile lushiness - the only issue I have with browsing Lush on my tablet is that it doesn't know the concept of hovering. To access the timeline, I either have to log out and back in, or press down on the cog wheel button for a few seconds until I see the popup that asks me if I want to open the link in another tab, then touch somewhere else in the page to make the popup vanish while the menu dropdown stays visible. I'm quite good with computers, but I'm pretty sure that not everyone can get around that hurdle that easily.

So could we have a link to the timeline either in the profile or (my preference) the settings page?

Come to think of it, to get to my profile page, I also have to open the settings and click on my avatar picture there when I'm on the tablet. Would it be possible to have a direct link at the home page?
I like that you can add a picture or a "cover" image to stories now and I usually throw together something with the title on it for my gallery but I have refrained from loading them into the stories because there is that semi-transparent black box with the white text that states the title and author of the story over your image. I have always thought that that transparent box is redundant (and ugly) because You can already see the title and author you don't need another box saying so over your image. A cover image should look like an actual cover and the ones I put together for my stories do actually look like a book cover so the transparent box over them would make it look stupid so I just don't add images. What I am proposing is that there be an option to display that black box or not. I understand it's good for people that don't know how to add their own type to a picture but to the other people that can, that box is just annoying.

It's annoying to the reader especially using a phone. You can't see the picture so there's no point in having it. Surely it could be displayed above the box and the box made smaller.

OMG that is the most adorable picture ever.....
I would love a resize feature for my avi so the entire pic can be seen in chat rooms, black boxes ect. I have used small ones and large ones and some work and some don't I cant figure out the rhyme or reason for it.
I love the black boxes, but they can be confusing sometimes if you have just logged in and caught a conversation reply from the last time you logged in or messages sent while you were not online. I have to leave the page I'm on and go to the conversation history page in order to find out the context of the message.

I would like to see a BOTTOM status bar with a pop-up friends list, clicking on a friend in the list would open a chat box with the last few messages sent and received. Much like the chat function in Facebook and adult social sites (I won't mention names).

To take it a step further, maybe include a Timeline pop up in the bottom bar, as well, with newsfeed type items.

No, it seems to be working just fine and looks great! Thanks man.

Only issue I have now is that I am unable to edit stories that placed in a competition for a whole year, unfortunately. So I'll have to wait to add images to those ones.

Actually it has been more than a year for my competition winner and I still can't edit it.

i'd be happy to edit it for you.

What I meant was that when I go to try and add a cover to my stories that placed in a comp the system actually doesn't let me. It says I need to wait a year but for two of them it has been more than a year already.

hmm.... have you edited them recently? maybe, if you did, it resets? have to ask Gav - you know how good i am at the tech stuff.

No I haven't edited them. I figure Gav will see this eventually and look into it.
I've asked Gav to look into that. You should be able to edit them.

I can edit Mignonette now which was the one that wasn't quite at 12 months after posting but Kingdom Come and Let Her Eat Cake still go straight to the page with the red box telling me I have to wait 12 months to edit them. The latter two are the ones older than 12 months if that info helps.

Can we change the order of the listing that pops up when you click on a tag go from newest to oldest instead of the way it is now. I was looking for a recent story that had a certain tag and something from 2009 popped first. Please?

Totally agree, I'll change it.

The ability to mute individuals on Friends Activity - those addicted to posting on every word game forum mainly

This is one of the side effects of a soft block of a friend. I had someone else ask me something similar, I think they were scared off the block as it sounded a little harsh. Maybe it needs a new name and better implementation?

Mute
Hide
Ghost

Essentially, they cannot see you online and their activity is blocked from your feed. I'm thinking to these muted friends would also lose their poking powers.

Soft blocks are notoriously tricky to implement without the blockee being able to work out they're being individually shut out... the Follow List drop on block bug/feature is a good example.

I wonder if a more contextualised timeline might be more helpful. Instead of being a strict timeline it could be a more joined up view of the activity of your friends. eg "User1, User2 and User3 have commented on StoryX", "User4 and User5 contributed to ForumY", "User6 and User7 have published new stories in the last week". Not a simple implementation by any means but maybe something to work towards.
