Can there be an option to choose an avatar directly from our image galleries in addition to uploading a picture every time we change it?

Maybe we can just hover an image and select 'Choose as avatar'. It would be really convenient, especially for those like myself that recycle avatars.

Two wishes that tie together: I would be great if the message list could show more messages on a single page than twenty (perhaps as an optional setting?) and if the selection box could be made bigger. Right now, when I'm tidying up my messages, I keep missing the tiny boxes, opening the message instead. Alternatively, it would be a great help if clicking outside the checkbox in this column didn't open the message.
A minor tweak to the story search option would be great. If you type in two words it displays stories with either word rather than stories containing both words. So tough cookies if you are in the mood for something specific. Unless I am doing something wrong which could easily be the case.
I really love Dani's idea, so please, can we?

Also, I was thinking since we now have the Statistics on our profile, can we add how many famous stories, RR's and EP's we have there also. I think it would be a great add to it. I mean, we have days in chat, what use is that? So, I think it would be cool to add famous stories, RR's and EP's, please. smile
Can private messaging allow live cam to cam for those who agree to see each other on screen in real time, without leaving the site?

An overhaul of the search feature has been on the cards for a long time. It's unfortunately still on the to-do list.

I would like to see many more features too. In particular:

- Search for Word 1 AND Word 2 AND Word 3 (perhaps up to 4-5 keywords).

- Add exclusion words (NOT containing "Scat" )
Nicola,

I have a suggestion that will benefit everyone. I notice I get a flood of comments on my stories when first introduced and then it trickles off to a person here and there. I would love to see a way to plug your work and give it front page attention. How about a system where you can purchase a plug or buy advertising space? I do notice that Ashleigh has her west Coast Games promoted.

Anyway, just a thought.

Where do you mean?

All stories get equal amount of time on the front page. There are no paid placements. We promote authors' Amazon ebooks on the RHS of the front page, is that what you mean?

A few people have Ash's story promoted in their forum sigs.

Paid placement of stories could work at category level perhaps, like Google do with their 3 x sponsor listings. I don't particularly like the idea though, as it would cause a disparity.

Thank you for the suggestions folks, please keep them coming.

Thanks for explaining. I guess if you build a large following your stories will of course get more readers. And I agree that self promotion that is paid would be unfair. Scratch that idea.

i choose, my choice, and it has nothing to do with my position on lush, to promote Ashleigh's stories simply because, imo, she's one of our premiere writers, and i think that anyone who is interested in being a truly great writer would do well to read her work. i know that she has pushed me to improve immeasurably from when i first joined, and i like to pay her back for the support she's given me from the moment i first joined the site. smile

I wasn't slamming Ashleigh. She is the best writer on this site and has helped me tremendously. I have read all her work. I am a novice writer. Only ask questions to find out things. I thought there were promotions available for your stories. I wasn't aware they were for e-books alone. I was wrong. In any case I will be more careful about what question i ask in the future. Sorry.

oh, it's not a big deal, i was just pointing out the kind of things it's possible to do here to help promote people if you'd like smile

A save function when you are editing a story before you submit it would be a help. Thanks

Hey there,

I might have misunderstood this, but I think it would be better to use simple +/-/" " as extra search options the way google does instead of actually having to type out and and not.

I have two suggestions:
1) Update the graphics. I personally find the graphics a little too...2006. I'm not suggesting the interface should be changed, just the appearance. The red on white theme works well, however looks a bit dated.

2) Instead of a timeline review, I think a notifications tab on the top bar would be more convenient. I'm pinching the idea from Facebook simply because it's functional and works well.

1) I have to agree. The graphics could be updated. I wouldn't change the color scheme, because it has become lush stories, but especially the forum looks very out of date and doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the site. I also wonder if there is a lush logo. I don't think you need something fancy just something like a white LS on red ground as a part of the lush brand. It could be used in many ways. For example as an avatar for the birthday posts that non avatar looks a bit weird or in promotional things like the twitter or Facebook site or in articles that mention lush.
Amendment: I just saw there actually is a lush logo used for the android app. So you could just pull that one and use it for those things.

2) I kind of like the timeline, but that is just me.

Amendment:
I just found out there actually is a lush android app. Amazing! However it took my over 7 months to accidentally stumble over that information. You should think about making that information easier to find. Like including it into the welcome email.
Nicola,
I would love to see a new category added for Collaborations. After the latest collaboration by Milik and Poppet, I think this category promotes shared experiences between members.

My last idea was a bomb but I think this one is better.

Hey Chuck,

I tried to find the thread, but couldnt find it off hand(and im on the way out to go to work) but the current system that gives credit to both authors is actually a solution that most are fairly happy with. If I remember correctly(why I looked for the thread) to set it up as a collabs, would require a lot more work for the code monkey.

Some of the collabs are great. Of the 3 recipients of the Outstanding series award, 2 are collabs! (Im very pleased to have been part of the Settle for Nothing Series)

I have also written a collaboration with Lexi (sweetesSins). I wasn't aware both authors got credit. In our collaboration I didn't. Plus, if the collaboration was allowed on both authors pages, it would give better exposer to the story.

adding a second author is a fairly new development smile and one nic and gav worked with the writers to add

Thanks for saying that. (Checks in the mail ;))

I think we did actually talk about this once and I believe that Dirty_D is right about the result. I think if collaborations were more common, Nicola might find the effort worth while.

I'lll tell you what though, I have written with Dirty_D, Principessa, Sweatascandy, Poppet, Jayne33 and even Summerjones. I have found each time that I had to up my game and that each of the stories we created were very special in their own ways. This is something I strongly encourage all writers to try.

Working with another can be difficult at times and it isn't easy giving up creative control, but the ability to learn from others is just invaluable. Everyone one of my co writers taught me something the craft.

The Wild Girl anthology need not be read in any order but does take place in the following timeframe

Wild at Heart- 1968. The story of Dani’s Great Aunt Evie.

https://www.lushstories.com/stories/first-time/wild-at-heart

Wild Oats. Part 1&2. -2021. Dani is 16 and sets her sights on her stepfather.

https://www.lushstories.com/stories/taboo/wild-oats-part-2

Wild Child. 2025. Dani is now 20 years old.

https://www.lushstories.com/stories/taboo/wild-child

I have worked with several other authors, personally, I'd love to see this become a genre. It is becoming more and more common, so it only makes sense to add it as a genre. It would help those stories get out more, to get more notice, like all the other ones.

It's not a "genre" though, any more than "Stories written by Clum" or "Stories written naked at my desk" are genres.

Collaboration is a way of writing a story, not a type of story.

I think the ability to have all authors credited is sufficient. I have no opinion on whether it should be posted on all contributors' pages.

EDIT: I guess "Stories written by Clum" could be a genre if I had a very distinctive style which set my stories markedly apart from others (for better or worse). As it stands, that's not the case.

That is fair, but I can also say audios is not a genre, but it has it's own tab, for easy finding. Hence people suggesting a tab for collaborations.
Either way is fine by me, but I think it would be kind of nice to have a tab for them.

Fair point. I guess there is a tab for audios because people go specifically looking for those. Do people come on specifically looking for collaboratively written stories? (Genuine question; I don't know).

Some might, maybe not "new" members, but ones who know about collaboration stories. I know I personally would like to read more of them, if I knew who else had them out there. It surely can't hurt to have it. I'd think. smile
I believe the act of collaborating increases creativity and makes those who do it better writers. With that in mind, I'd like to see Lush attempt to promote collaborations as much as possible. Ultimately, I'd like the stories to appear on both writers pages with both their names on the preview page. Even have have the awards shared and the views split.

Now, obviously that would require a vast amount of time and effort by Gav. So much so that it's probably impossible in anything but the longest of time frames. Still, were the world perfect, that's what I'd like to see.

This is why I would like to see a category dedicated to them. Making that a goal for the omnium badge would encourage us to work together. I think that's of value.

I'll be honest. When I did my first, I never thought I could share the creative control. I was just sure the decisions made by my co writer would drive me crazy. I was extraordinarily happy when I realized how fulfilling it was. This is why I'm going to continue writing with others.

In the short term, could we get a cowriters badge? I'd like that

An idea popped into my head today as I saw my new poem go from 0 to 111 views in just a few hours.

We have a famous story badge for authors who have 30,000 views.

What about a famous poet badge when a poem hits 1,000 views? I think 1,000 is good because the 2 poem categories are the most not viewed sections on lush and if any 1 poem gets 1,000 views the author deserves something.

I like it, but 1000 may be a bit low. How about five or even ten? I'm not sure how many would actually qualify

That seems a bit much to me.

My 1st poem has been stalled at 925 for a very long time. Poems don't get read as often as stories. Even a low number like 1,000 would be one hell of an achievement
