I found this on another site, thought it was a great thread.

Post photos that have had a powerful impact on you, one way or other, political or otherwise:

Vietnam:

Tiananmen Square:

Sudan:

And one of my favorites of all time:

Good one Plow the last one is a classic from Nat Geo. Have to agree also one of my favs.
The second last one is... WoW

Eyo, watched an entire documentry on that! Its incredible what some people have to go through, makes you take a second look at that burnt piece of toast ey.
They went back and found the girl with the eyes. To see what she's like today.
To me a couple of photos I will never forget

The Berlin wall coming down 1989

The Space Shuttle Challenger

Enough depression for one day.
Second that because you know someone is going to have to put the twins in here too from 9/11/01

I love this one
I remember being in in grammar school and watching it live on TV when the shuttle exploded. The entire school was in shock......

This was taken on a very important date, July 20th, 1969. 5 days after I was born - nice of them to lay on a show for me:

Well, your birth was a "blast off" of your new life, Nic.
How does society get to the point where it's OK to hack a kid in the head with a machete?

Out of all those photos, the one you posted Durrasch had the biggest impact. I have gotten myself into trouble with people who do things like that.

Do you believe in miracles? Our college kids took on the best in the world, and we took the gold in one of the greatest moments in US history...I remember before it started, all the kids my brother played hockey with (no girl's hockey in California back then) knew the US couldn't stand up to the Soviet machine, my dad said we'd try our best, but we were really only hoping to get the bronze medal game, and wow oh wow...we took it all!
