His music is responsible for inspiring much of the musicians we listen to today. Love him or hate him - any music lover must respect the artist.

very true ....

MJ is one of the handful of geniuses in the music business of the last 30 years .... I am surprised the Music Hall of Fame isn't bursting at it's seams .... there has been so much amazing music produced ....

Makes me wanna sing "The Way You Make me Feel" .... *a little dance*
I respected Jackson's musical talent which was awesome though his musical style does not appeal to my tastes. I did think that him wearing one glove seemed work marketing wise, so I took to wearing one sock. Somehow that just didn't work out for me.
I have no idea of whether or not it's true, but my boyfriend told me that when a cadet was caught masturbating at West Point they made him wear one glove. A lot of Michael's wardrobe looked very military, with epaulets and buttons. I liked the videos of him that I saw when I was growing up, but he's never really been a favorite musician of mine. I lean more toward guitar players as musical heroes, especially people who sing and play guitar.

I am and always will be a HUGE fan.

Such talent does not exist anymore imho.

I remember my whole family meeting up to watch the premier of Thriller on tv and we only had 4 channels back then.

When was the last time any artist inspired that?

I have to be honest and say that I personally never believed the allegations made against him...I think he was a very fragile yet talented man who never got the chance to grow up due to his childhood stardom.

I think people took advantage of his mental state, generosity and fondness for children and raising money for them to aid children in need...which I think ultimately made him loose it even more as he couldn't cope.

I don't think he was guilty of what was accused.

I think what was accused was a family taking advantage because from a parents opinion if what he did was true you would not settle for millions out of court if he had hurt your child..you would want him stopped so he could harm no other...That's what I would do.

He is still imho the greatest dancer of my time and artist except for the Gods that are Muse.

It is a shame he is gone and I miss his dance vids..no one does them anymore.

Certainly Slash doesn't think so

I just KNEW that there were gonna be negative posts on this topic. Can we just stick to the positive please? No-one knows what really went on apart from Michael himself, and god, 'Judge not, lest ye be judged'. He was a great dancer, a great singer and I for one, hope he rests in peace.

Couldn't resist.

And the children involved I guess.

Anyway, I liked his music up until the mid '80s. After Thriller he became quite a caricature, always presented with some kind of grandiose drama and mystery while lacking any sense of humor. Nut my cup of tea at all ("I'm bad! I'm bad! I'm really, really bad!" Well yeah, that is quite bad. But RLY?).

Right foot of course. What? Did you think I used a tube sock?
yes, I am one. There has never been an entertainer of his caliber before or after him. He will always be the King of Pop. I love some of his music.
He and Quincy Jones are fucking geniuses. Visionaries.
he has great music and all great musicians have one time where somebody pulls bullshit on them. i personally enjoy listening to and playing his music on my trombone
He was one of the most innovative/creative/TALENTED musical artists/performers of the 20th Century.

Nobody will EVER truly know how his impossibly troubled life IMPACTED upon others. (He was NEVER found GUILTY of EVER harming another human being.) I BELIEVE he was misguided, desperately disconnected and lonely, perhaps looking PERSONALLY for something he didn't even really comprehend... I DON'T believe, (there is NO EVIDENCE...) that he EVER attempted to HARM another person...) WERE SOME OF HIS PRACTICES INNAPROPRIATE? I think they were. Was ANY OTHER PERSON hurt by ANYTHING he did? I don't believe so.

Michael Jackson was TAKEN AND EATEN AND REPEATEDLY SPAT OUT by the Music Industry before he EVER reached ANY KIND of adult maturity. Indeed, THEY KEPT HIM LIKE THAT!!! He was MONEY!!! (That's ALL that MACHINE ever sees...)

That he COULD do what he did, present what he produced, given the UNREALITY of his existence testifies to his talent as a TRUE ARTIST...

His name will be FOREVER LINKED to MURKY ASSOCIATIONS with unspeakable practices, but AGAIN I say, NO EVIDENCE!!!

Jimmy Saville. Rolf Harris. Gary Glitter. Max Clifford et al...

(Michael Jackson WAS NOT THAT!!!) Not AT ALL!!!

The ONLY person that Boy/Man EVER hurt was himself.

(And I PRAY TO FUCK I am never proved wrong...) Because THAT is part of THIS ARTIST's legacy... That DOUBT! (And THAT is a shame.)
