England really getting slapped around. Looking more like the three kittens out there.

wow, so surprised with how England played without much passion! I had thought that they would have knocked their game UP.

Then, we have Germany ~ young and tenacious!! They outplayed England very well - and England looked like it was just a pre-match scrum.

Germany certainly deserved the win!

now, where is that warm beer? ... sniff

Isn't it always the same England skulk away with their tails between their legs, oh god. Is this the kind of spirit that are in the English 365 days a year. For god sake; I wish us English had some god damn spunk!

I'd pay to see either. LOL

I could do with a job in nice sunny America lol
Nobody mentioning the obvious fuck-up by the referee and the linesman? That Lampard shot was way behind the goal line thus should've been a goal.
Although I think Germany still would have won the game, just not as easily as now.

feckers..bloody england 4-1 is disgraceful...the one game I watch...I wish I could have that time back
I was disappointed by England's lackluster performance, but also impressed with Germany's effort. I see the Germans going a long way in this Cup.

Did any of you pick teams on ? My score right now is 42 points.

Uruguay Vs. Ghana. What say you?

I pick Uruguay to blow them away, on that day.

That's my one-line poem.
Ouch Osorio. Game might already be over for Mexico at halftime. Shame cause they started so well in the first 10 minutes.

Big fuck up from a usually solid player. The clearly offsides goal that was allowed messed up the Mexican's heads.
Yeah it's retarded how Fifa continues to argue they don't want to use technologies like video replay or the electronic chip in the ball.
Today we saw 2 prime examples of how these fuck-ups can affect a game.

Let's see if my fellow Dutchmen can put on a convincing performance and hopefully a win tomorrow.

Or maybe a fifth official that is watching the game on a monitor who can talk to the ref on the field. Like today he would have seen the first goal by Argentina was offsides and he could have relayed that info right away.

Or have more linesmen so they can keep up with the action easier. Football today is much faster than 100 years ago. They changed the backpass to the goalie rule because it was ruining big games, why not try to do something about the bad call situation?

If England would have equalized there would have been a huge momentum shift in favor of the English. Would have been a different game and a really exciting one at that.

oh well...

LETS GO HOLLAND! ...and I hope the Germans put a hurt on Argentina

It's a shame the 3 hedgehogs didn't beat the Germans. I saw the goal that wasn't given on the news, it looked like it was over the line by a metre.

Maradona is hilarious. I'd like to see them in the final, it's nice to see some charisma.

A lot of people love him or hate him. I love him except for when they beat Mexico. Some of his highlight videos just leave you speechless.

Four years to get better Mexico.
Boring tournament so far, but gathering momentum now.

The germans certainly ripped England a new one. Argentina or Spain should win it, I doubt the germans can beat either of those.

As a matter of fact, the 4th referee did whisper in the linesman's ears that it was offside. However, this was after the main referee had already accepted the goal and Mexico was ready to kick off again. But at that exact moment the Fifa replayed the goal on the big ass screen in the stadium and all the Mexican players saw that it really was offside. That's when they ran to the linesman and the referee joined in to discuss it with his linesman. Seems the main referee was too scared to cancel the goal after having allowed it already.

Anyway, I'm getting more nervous with each minute building up to game time. It honestly does get worse the older I get haha.

Apparently
the sight of 11 a**holes getting hammered for 90 minutes is too
explicit for ESPN.
Let's put a smile on that face.

When I grew up there were only three sports with fans....baseball, football (American style), and basketball (male only), with an occasional golf fan. Heck, we didn't even know what a soccer ball was. To me, it seems that soccer is "forced' on us....football too violent, baseball too boring and too many labor issues, and today pro basketball just sucks. I think soccer would be more appealing if it had more scoring. But it will never replace the NFL....
Another unconvincing win by the Dutch but still a win. Of course we will have to do a LOT better on Friday when we play the winner of Brazil/Chile.
I'm putting my $$ on Brazil and it would be awesome to get revenge for the 1994 and 1998 World Cups.

I think you have to grow up with the sport or really learn how to play soccer for it to be exciting. If you don't understand whats going on its going to seem boring. It's the close calls and watching attacks get developed then thwarted that's exciting, watching a weak team hold off a stronger one or a great player schooling three or four defenders at a time. to me when a team goes up 3-0 it's boring. The game is the most exciting when the teams are tied. A goal can changes the whole momentum and style of play. It is really dramatic. I also love the fact that you can be tall or short to play. It's all about skill. Football or Basketball requires a certain type of body. It doesn't matter if a 5'6'' 145 lb. guy is the best player of football ever, skill wise, he'll never be a pro because he's too small.

To me football is boring as hell unless I gamble on it. The fact that 3 1/2 hours go by with only 1 hour of actual gameplay is just frustrating and sleep inducing. I never played american football so maybe I can't relate to it.

I thought Robben and Kuyt played well. Kuyt had great composure on the second goal. They will really be tested in the next game though no matter who they end up playing.
So, Brazil it is.
It might turn out to be another boring game since both teams play with a defensive block of 6 players and 4 creative players upfront.

I started watching soccer in 2009, and I really love it. I still like football, but our team is the Detroit Lions, so cut me some slack.

Paraguay vs. Japan

Spain vs. Portugal

I pick Paraguay over Japan, definitely.

It's too close to call with the Spain match, because I like both teams. Yes, I hope they don't cancel each other out.
A good soccer game is still better than a good NFL game, but CFL (Canadian Football League) Is more exciting than both. As for predictions, I'm going with Paraguay, and Spain. And my predictions for the entire show is Brazil vs the winner of the Argentina vs Germany game, with Brazil winning. I've backed Brazil from the start, no need to stop now.
