Giving South Africa's poverty it's not that odd seeing empty seats in the stadium. I've heard that people with Dutch roots got offered tickets for 14 euro apiece. That's cheap for us but if you're living in some shack sharing it with 10 other people in a poor township you're not likely to get you a nice seat in a football stadium.

Ouch, pretty crappy game and a lucky first goal. But being able to win your crappy games is important in a tournament like this.
Hopefully we'll play better on Saturday.

Not a convincing game from the Dutch but a win is a win is a win. Denmark isn't an easy team to beat, I heard they qualified out of a fairly tough group.

I hope we'll get to see a lot of goals in the Japan v Cameroon game.

And the Japan - Cameroon game was even worse. Cameroon was highly disappointing and Japan scored 1 goal out of 1 real opportunity so gotta give kudos to that.
If we manage to beat Japan on Saturday we'll qualify for the knock-out round!

Forza Italia looked more like a bunch of cornudos out there today. Paraguay's goalie allows them to tie with a big mistake. Italy have New Zealand and Slovakia coming up, they should be able to advance easily. Then again they should have been able to beat Paraguay...

And I was glad Japan won too, Honda (I think it was Honda) had a nice calm finish.

Yes it was Honda who scored. He played for a Dutch club where he made quite an impression until he was sold to his current Moscow club.
True about the Paraguay goalie, this really seems to become the tournament of the goalie errors.

Tomorrow's most anticipated game is Ivory Coast vs Portugal at 4pm. Also curious to see how Brazil does against North Korea.

Yeah that was a great cross into the box with a nice header on the end of it. I was happy for new Zealand.

Portugal looked completely impotent going forward. It seemed like they only had one shot on target. Just the one where Ronaldo hit the post. The diving was annoying.

Also, they didnt replay it but it looked like there was a hand ball in the box by Ivory Coast at the end. It happened on Portugal's last attempt forward before Ivory Coast's flurry at the end. My eyes could have been playing tricks on me though.

Agreed, I hate Ronaldo's whining and diving. Fucken diva should shut the fuck up and start acting like a real team captain instead of acting like he's the reincarnation of Jesus Christ.
Yeah I also wondered whether that was a hand play by one of the Ivory Coast players. But the referee didn't see it, didn't blow his whistle so it's irrelevant now. Besides, I thought Ivory Coast was the better team in this game.

Indeed no idea about North Korea. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

Dammit, I was up until about 6am so I missed the Portugal game, but I did see highlights- I was wrong to latch on to Cristiano Ronaldo, what a damn pussy! A bouncer where I work told me he hated soccer because players were whiners and faked injuries and flopped- now I see what he means. And ya, Felix, he totally looks gay- not that theres any problem with that.

I totally revoke my support of Portugal. Floppers!

Not all players are like that. Ronaldo cut it out too for a while but for some reason he does that shit in the world cup.

Brazil vs North Korea was a lot closer than I expected it to be. Brazil looks a lot more structured and defensive than they have been in the past. It will be interesting to see how they progress as the tournament continues. I think they are still my favourite.
