What to you is the most abhorrent word in the English language...?
will tell you mine later
Good question. I would say that the list would consist of any number of racist, sexist, etc. epithets, none of which I will dignify by using them. Curse words like "shit" and "fuck" definitely take a back seat to those. Ditto blaspheming. As a (more or less) non-believer, I don't really have a problem with using "Jesus Christ" or similar as a curse.
Good list but pick one

Can't. They are all equally abhorrent and equally deserving of not being said.
OK, I can understand that. Will let it run a bit longer. Thanks for your input x
I would hope you don't get too many takers for this thread. If they are abhorrent we don't really want to see them.
My word is *SLAVE* The dictionary defines the word as: n. “Someone who is legally owned by another and must obey them”. Given that the US went to war internally and my own country tore itself apart over that word. How anyone could willingly call themselves a *SLAVE* to another defies logic and is beyond my comprehension. I studied Modern Day Slavery for my humanities course at Uni. What I learned staggered me.
The very word *SLAVE* demeans humanity and it is even worse when it is used in the furtherance of sexual satisfaction, as it demeans both parties.

Hey, your girl is wearing a Collar, is she like your sex slave or something?"
"Yes she is my sex slave, why? You want to borrow her?"
"Hell yea, but won't she mind?"
"No, she's collared, she'll do what I tell her to."
I largely agree with you in most contexts, though I find the concept more abhorrent than the word itself. Slavery has no place in our modern world, for sure. That said, I'd still put ethnic, sexist, etc. slurs a bit higher on the ick scale than the word "slave." "Slave" as a word has a legitimate context when discussing the existence, both contemporary and historical, of slavery. There is no legitimate context for slurs beyond, perhaps, the history of racism, sexism, etc. and even there they can be avoided for the most part.

In a sexual context, I wonder how many of those using the term realize that slavery is involuntary and therefore raises questions of consent and control?

So I think you have a good case, even if I don't 100% agree with you.
Thanks for you thoughtful and considered response, In some regards I agree with you i suppose my main thrust was on the sexual side and i suspect there we maybe in agreement.
That said the forums are for healthy debate as well,as the less challenging shall we say, so I thank you for your response. enjoy your day.
Mine is "assumption", what people dont know, they make up, then after making it up, they act upon it, not having any understanding at all, that there conclusion is only in there own mind. They dont care who they hurt, or place any thoughts on the damage they do. " I think it, therefore it is So. "
I agree with both you and Jacqui. Slave is an abhorrent word. Obviously slavery as a practice is terrible and used sexually I just don't get. But then I don't get into demeaning sex at all. And to assume things about someone is so ignorant and disrespectful. I ran into that here just recently. If I have to pick one of my own, and I guess the rules say I do, I will pick extremist. I am so sick of that word being thrown around just because someone disagrees with what you believe. Hmm that word isn't used sexually so for that I will say faggot. I hate that word. I hope everyone else does too.
Thank you Ryan, I think all the words proposed so far are bad. I agree that the word extremist is misused in so many cases and as to faggot it demeans a nice old fashioned English meal. smile

huh? what meal is that? I knew it was used as a term for a cigarette before...well fag was anyway.
Apparently Cunt?

In North America anyways...
The N-word. It’s without a doubt the word that will get the most reaction. It really is the most offense word in the English language.
