There have been innumerable threads complaining about the voting system here on Lush, and every similar site I’ve been on. This, I hope won’t be one. What I’d like to understand is they why someone votes a low score. Is it because the story is too long or too short? Too focused on sex or not enough? My stories generally do well, so I have no complaints, but I would like feedback from those who think they can be better. If you are a person who votes a 3, do you tell the author why? Believe me, if people did, I would use that information to improve my writing.
I rarely give low scores, but if I do I usually send a friendly pm saying why.
I usually don't give anything lower than a 3 which I believe is rather good.
If a story is honestly really bad which lately never happens because of the new moderating system, which is great because now my time doesn't get waisted by reading useless stories, but if I come across a story which is rather bad ill either just get bored and move on to the next or comment 'needs more attention'.
And I agree with trinity Milik your stories are extraordinarily well written.
I've never given a 1 or 2 score...If it's that bad I stop reading and move on...The mods have been doing a great job lately ensuring that stories which would get a 1 or 2 score have been filtered out...I would like people to give constructive criticism if they were going to give me a non positive comment...I've done it to other people's stories...It helps one improve at the end of the day
I usually don't on a story that deserves it. The lowest I usually give is a 3. For great stories, a 4 or 5.

I have in the past and told them why but, as stated before we have a system in place that should take care of a lot of that problem.
Thanks for yor answers! As I said, I have no problem with the scoring system. My stories tend to be very long. Is this ggod thing, or do you prefer stories that are shorted and focus on the hotter aspect?
I can only speak for myself, but if a person has a long story, I'd rather read one chapter at a time. With all the new ones flooding in daily, I might not get back to reading that long one.
I don't see myself tossing out numerical grades on the 1-2-3 end of the scale. If I stumble across a read which doesn't, IMO, deserve a praise-worthy 4 or 5, well...makes no sense to me, to pee on someone's parade. Besides, what's my opinion really matter?
It's not like I'm a publisher or want to be someone's agent.
And, like Rocco has indicated...if I open up a story which contains more than 20 to 30,000 characters...I'm liable to immediately click out, but by the same token...unless it's a poem, it better have more than 6,000 letters and spaces or I blow by that undeveloped quickie, too.
The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.
My thing is I usually forget to comment/rate a story. For every story I have commented/rated I have probably read 20 others without doing so. I am getting better at remembering though.

En vis mann slår aldri en hund i klubben med en stokk, fordi hunden vil vende rundt og biter mannens ballene av. I only rate/comment on those I particularly enjoy. If there are ones I enjoy less I tend not to bother with a vote at all, personally I just remember "If you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything."
I don't leave any constructive critisism yet either, I'm pretty new to this only publishing for the first time yesterday, It's very nerve-racking for me to see what people think. So I just feel my opinion is not needed... yet *evil grin*
As for length, I sway to the shorter ones too, unless I have more time. Of course if I am reeled in by a great story I wont notice it's length.
I'm off to read Your stories Milik_The_Red seeing as they come highly recommended ;)
We try and make it as easy as possible to vote and comment on stories Milik, but it's hard enough to get people to even vote.
Look at your story The Survivor for example:
Added : Aug 31, 2009 | Category : Reluctance | Votes : 63 | Avg Score 4.84 | Views 5,216
Only 1 in 80 people who read the story actually gave it any score whatsoever.
You did get 10 comments though, which is a feat in itself.
So far I haven't read a story that deserved that low of a score as said if it is that bad I just move on but I have rarely given less than a score of 4.
I would like to get criticism on my stories, but when I've given it, mostly the writers didn't like it. I only do that on stories I really think are good but have a few problems that could be fixed. If the writing is bad or grammatically terrible, I usually don't get past the first paragraph. I'd say this was a good percentage of the stories. I saw one story where the entire long story consisted of one paragraph; I don't think there's any excuse for that. I don't read stories that are more than one episode or chapter long. I don't read stories where the author says it's based on his/her personal experience; I'm interested in reading fiction, not someone's confessions. I briefly got caught up in the fact that most of the stories seem to be about and so I wrote one. I won't write another and I doubt I'll ever read another again. I give a 4 or a 5 on writing I think is really good. If I felt compelled to read the really bad stories, I'd grade them as low as possible.
I will comment on a story that I feel deserved a low vote:
I didn't like it.
If reading a story and it doesn't seem to be very good i stop reading and move to another...i score all stories i read with either i 4 or 5 and comment on all 5's i give out
If and when I start to read stories from lush and for some unknown reason I give it a low score, I'll be more than happy to say why such a score was given.
