Do you correct website typos?

I just did something I've wanted to do for so long, I wrote a mail to a website telling them they had a typo in their text. It had been nagging me each time I visited for more than 6months and it was still there so I decided to inform them about it.

Is there anyone who does this other than me, cause I think it would be a good habit not a bad one to help a site to look less illiterate and unprofessional.

I'd love to hear the anecdotes!
I have a couple, since you want to hear...the first involves another story site which I won't name, but I think it's a disaster...broken links, mis-spelled titles, etc...after informing the site owner on more than one occasion, and usually only when it involved my stories, he posted this in the forum this past September...

"Could I please point out that I am not perfect by no means, I can make errors like anyone.

It has been brought to my attention that I have made a number of errors when publishing stories.... admittedly only by one author but on many different occasions.

I do not make these errors on purpose (what an idiotic thing that would be) errors happen and unless highlighted to me I might not be aware. Please have some patience with me I do the best I can but it seems not to every ones satisfaction.

I am updating the website and the stories, authors index and genres will all be having a revamp over the coming weeks so if I miss something give me a break please.

I do not have the facilities that other story sites may have but I do the best I can with the things I have knowledge about and a little understanding of this would be appreciated.

I understand that he is not "perfect" but I would think that anyone who creates a website, or does anything else for that matter would have a little pride in their work...
I am only on the site because he messaged me from another site asking if I would post my stories on his site...a situation that has happened a few times in the last couple of years...I would think he'd have the decency to at least make sure the titles posted correct, and that all the links worked and not take offense when an author who he invited would expect the same...

The site actually has so many errors that I had sent the link to it to Gav last year with a note saying that if he ever has any doubts about whether or not Lush is the nicest site, and that he is doing a great job, he should check out some of the other sites...and I used the one as a bad example...

More recently I pointed out an error in one of the e-Zines where one of my poems had a minor error...the title appeared as "Two United As One" in the archive section, and after clicking the link it showed up with the correct title "Two Unite As One"...

I got a much better response from the site owner the other day...

"Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I've been very busy working on different projects lately. It's going on six years since the ezine has been online and it has become very large. So keeping up with the growth of the archive and managing other projects has been a challenge at times. But one that I've enjoyed for a very long time. There should be an update to the site and archive sometime next week. I wish you all the best in all that you do. Take care. --Natasha"

So...those are two examples that come to mind for me...

I did actually, today, point out, to the FBI, a broken link and how very annoyed I was that they had switched off the contact us form -which they had instructed me to use when the link didn't work.
Oooohhhh... sorry to go off-topic, but may I ask what you were doing at the FBI website? (I've been there, too, btw, vetting claims made in an article.)

As for spelling errors, they're like speedbumps to my eyes when I read. (As are grammar and punctuation errors.) However, I've never contacted a site administrator about one. I agree, DM, that they should make all efforts to appear professional; but I decided long ago that most of the time (when your art isn't at stake), trying to correct someone's abuse of the language usually isn't worth the backlash.
I never point out errors to a competitor's site, I love seeing them I have pointed them out to several friends who own blogs, and on sponsor sites though.

It is a matter of pride.

"May I please point out that I am not perfect by any means, I can make errors like anyone."
