It seems like there are several medical personnel on this site. We were just wondering what field everyone practices in. We are both RNs and I work in the ER. My husband works in cardiac. How about the rest of you?
I work in the lab analyzing specimens you get for us.....thank you for all what u do.
Foourteen years in Physical therapy five in the OR
I pick them up off the street. (EMT/Firefighter)
Currently pursuing my ARNP while working on a cardiovascular floor.
Until I retired nearly six years ago I was a Clinical Virologist working for The Health Protection Agency (the UK equivalent of CDC Atlanta). I started my career in Bristol, but worked in the Manchester Regional Laboratory for 30 years. When I retired I had consultant status at the Manchester Royal Infirmary. My specialist areas were the viral diagnostic methods, the epidemiology of viral infections, in particular respiratory infections, and in the diagnosis and prevention of sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections, particularly Hepatitis B and C, HIV, Syphilis and Chlamydia. In the early years of the HIV pandemic I was a member of a number of committees dealing with infection control, transmission, prevention etc. and towards the end of my career played an important role in the north west of England in monitoring the viral load in the bloodstream of patients on HAART. I have also taught at Masters level for the two Manchester universities on a part-time basis, although that is starting to wind up now.

After retirement I became a member of the Central Manchester Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and stood for election as a Public Governor 5 years ago, and I am currently Lead Governor. The role of the governors, who are all unpaid volunteers, is to hold the Trust Governing Board to account for its primary function, which is the provision of the highest standards of health care, free at the point of delivery, to the people of Manchester. The Trust is one of the largest in the UK with an annual budget of around £850,000,000 (roughly US$1,360,000,000).

Because of my position in public life, Lush members will understand why I try to preserve my anonymity, since society at large would still be generally disapproving of the kind of activities we all enjoy, even though they are mainly fantasy, and many of us try to remain faithful to our life partners, where we have one.
doctor of medicine. because of my position and function i do not like to give further details in public. You may talk with me if you have any medical questions.

I am a Firefighter/ EMT-P. Also I work in the ER as as an ER Tech part-time.
I don't quite qualify. I'm a small systems engineer in the medical device field. Design, modify/improve or re-engineer.

My girl Becky, however, works as a plebotomist - temporary till an opening happens in the lab as she has a Medical Technologist degree.
I dont work in the ER... I just have the "pleasure" of bringing the unwilling, mentally and emotionally unstable people in for help...
The Zoo... I mean, 'Emergency Department' ;-)
