My brother reminded me today of another one I had owned and driven for a while - a 1970 Audi Super90. I had it the same time as the '56 Chevy 1/2 Ton Pickup. I had forgotten about that car. I still have the Blaupunkt AM/FM/SW radio out of it, doing duty as my radio in the garage/workshop.

Wow - there are some great cars listed on this forum. Thank you DLizze for creating this thread.
Brings back memories for sure. And I totally agree on the Scout - what a great piece of craftsmanship.

My total is 22... 28 if you add non-licensed. Of the 6 non-licensed, 3 were parts cars and 3 were just bad but cheap choices that weren't worth the effort.
I'm here anonymously so I won't post specific makes and models other than half a dozen 2nd and 3rd gen Chevys (plus I'd be giving away my real age).
Of the 22, a few were daily drivers and winter beaters for the hobby cars. I rarely owned less than two vehicles at a time.

Today I only own and drive one vehicle. I bought it over ten years ago.

Happy New Year everyone!!

DLizze, you owned a "Microbus"? Those things were/are awesome! Husband's grandparents had one with a tent thinger that popped out of the top of it. I think it was the VW pea-green and white two-tone paint job, too. So hot.

Your list of cars is amazing. Had to look up half of them. Wow! And this is my favorite thread ever, btw.

67 GTO Convertible - Passed anything but a gas station
57 Chevy 2-door post - Yellow with gold pearl flames and a chopped top. It was just like the song: Dual quad, 4-speed, 409
49 Harley panhead
66 Bonneville - Looked like grandma's car, but it has a 421 HO and blew the doors off the kids in their shiny new Trans Ams
32 Ford street rod - Found it sitting in a pasture and had to cut down a tree growing through the roof to get it out
68 Olds 442 - It was fast, but not fast enough to catch my 409 ;)
58 Chevy - Chopped the top and painted it like the 58 in American Graffitti
57 Chevy Convertible - When I got it, it was a stripped down hulk of an early-60's custom with a 59 Chevy dash and electric doors. Gave it a 54 Desoto grill, 51 Buick tail lights, a dual-quad 327 4-speed out of a '64 Corvette, and a full tuck and roll interior from an old Barris-built '56 Chevy that a guy down the road was restoring to stock
68 Firebird Ram Air IV - Wasn't pretty, but damn, did it move!!
70 Camaro Z-28 RS - Ran the quarter in 12 seconds flat at 115 mph with a 500 Cadillac in it
71 Mach I fastback - It wasn't fast enough to catch my Caddaro ;)
68 Chevelle - I don't know how those 327 stickers got onto the valve covers of a 454 ;)
73 Dodge Charger - Had a 440 Magnum, but it wasn't enough to win ....
63 Impala SS 409
59 El Camino
73 Jeep CJ-5
76 Trans Am - Punch it at 80, and it was sideways :-o
68 Buick Le Sabre
67 Dodge Coronet 500 SE
75 Buick Regal
79 Mustang - Lowrider
83 Dodge Aries - Looked good, but couldn't catch a fat kid on a bike :-o
61 Chevy pickup - Slam the door and it rattled for 10 minutes, but it would start at -20
84 Chevy Cavalier
83 Nissan Pickup
87 Isuzu Trooper
90 Ford Escort
95 Plymouth Grand Voyager
03 Chrysler Town and Country

There's a lot of fun in your list, Bud. Buttload of coin, too.

It was one of the advantages of not being cool enough to be seen with ...
The construction boom of the 70's and early 80's was good to me, so I had all this money and nowhere to spend it except to build another new toy
They were cheap at the time, but looking at the prices they bring now, I wish I still had a few of them; especially the GTO and the two 57 Chevies.

This would have been around 1980.
None of the younger guys knew what a 409 was, but for $50 a gear, I was more than happy to show them ;)

This would have been in 1984. I wasn't talented enough to attempt the step fades and cobwebbing that were on it when I got it, but I think I did a pretty good job of capturing the spirit of a 60's custom

Then there's a few that I kick myself for not grabbing when I had the chance: a 70 Cuda AAR, in the middle of a ground up restoration, for $1200 ... The NOS stripes, alone, were $700
And the time a collector was telling me about a wrecked 69 Trans Am convertible (one of eight made) sitting in a junk yard in Colorado. "It's not worth it," she said. "It would cost you $30k to fix it up." Last time I saw one sold, it brought almost $2 million!! That would have been the best $30k I ever spent.

67 Chevy Impala - nice back seat, lots of good memories! :-)
76 Mazda RX-4 - Rotary engine
82 Dodge Sapporo - first NEW car

Got married and the cars have gone downhill since...
83 Dodge Caravan
85 Dodge Caravan
90 Ford Taurus
98 Toyota Camry
03 Toyota Corolla - really, really wanted a Prius but couldn't justify the price difference (plus this one gets 39 mpg city and 45 mpg highway), 5 speed standard and taught kids how to drive with this one. This on the road today.
05 Toyota Camry - to replace the 98 Camry as my beloved corolla was being held hostage by the kids
11 Hyundai Elantra - kids took Corolla so this was my surprising replacement. Kept my streak alive, having never paid anything close to $20K for a car. My wife has, but not me.

Wife's cars:
80 Chevy Chevette - (got screwed by dealership and why she (although born and raised in Michigan) refuses to buy Chevy ever again)
82 Toyota 3/4 ton long bed pickup - to replace the shit vet and loved it
89 Toyota Corolla - needed something with more seats due to kids
93 Toyota Camry - kids were growing
98 Toyota Sienna - soccer mom
04 Honda Accord - kids were driving now - wanted better gas mileage than 20 mpg Sienna
10 Toyota Prius - 55 mpg (in the summer, 48 mpg in cold winter)

I count 12 over the course of 35 years. Where I live, 4WD is practically a necessity, the first was an International Scout. Didn't see mention of one of those from anyone else. That vehicle would go through any weather conditions, but it was definitely utilitarian. It succumbed to rust at too early an age, but it really sold me on the SUV. I love my Ford Escape (current vehicle)

I would love to borrow that one Shibui...they were so darn pretty...and the '67 Mark III's had real windows...

I have to say, looking over this list, Lushkins have had some interesting cars...

Though, some bring back some memories which aren't all good...I knew someone who had a Healey as well...the exhaust ran under the rear axle, and scraped everything in the road...

Then, of course, there were Lucas fuel pumps which ticked in the morning...when they felt like it...

And SU carburetors, which looked so damn pretty under the hood...but never stayed in tune...

Ah yes...the good old days...

My '61 "big" Healey was a BT7 - that's the three carb model. REAL sports cars don't have roll-up windows; they have side curtains. :-) I discovered when I was working as a mechanic, the trick to making either SU or Stromberg carbs stay in tune is having a good valve train. The carbs don't really go out of adjustment all that much, but if your intake valves have too much or too little lash, or if the seats are just slightly worn. The car will act like the carbs are out of adjustment.

I'd much rather deal with a simple carb like an SU, or a Mikuni, or almost any of those vacuum throttle ones than have to rebuild a Rochester 4 barrel, or a Weber Dual sidedraft.

@ suezq - I had a '67 International Scout - It was one of the best off-road vehcles I ever owned. In the summer, I took the doors off it, and walking beside it with the hand throttle, used it like a tractor to skid logs and to pull a horse-drawn cutting bar, with my wife sitting on the seat, to provide weight.

My SHO was like that. I loved that car. I put 400,000 miles on it personally, and really had to be talked into selling it. Only ever changed the clutch, brakes, and tires. The day before I sold it I was kicked the pants of the kid who tried to race me. just a fun car all around.

I think the Mark I and II Healeys had a prettier line than the Mark III. Although I know they are not as collectible, I'd buy another Mark II BT7 in a heartbeat.

The TR-3, the Renault, and the Chevy Nova II were my brothers' cars - all the rest were mine at one time or another.
