The new Tron movie is not a remake though. It's a sequel.

Oh that's right. Yeah I forgot that in the trailer it shows the kid going to find Jeff Bridges. It's going to be cool.

This is borderline sacrilege I know but I would definitely go see A Clockwork Orange remake. Emile Hirsch as Alex maybe.

I'd say pure fucken sacrilege for sure. Kubrick made the best possible movie based on that book and leaving out the final chapter made the movie even more powerful than the excellent book.
I dig Emile Hirsch but my fave young actor is Ryan Gosling. Well, he's not that young anymore but you catch my drift.

Breakfast Club should never be remade. And the spin off from that old JC Penny's commercial pissed me off cuz they didn't even get the concept right! Grease series should never be remade. Or continued: I just can't see gang members singing and dancing. I think "It" would have potential for a good remake, but I'm not so sure that people could really do a good job with it. American Werewolf In London would be a good remake if the CGI and costumes don't suck.
Grease is a remake.

It's WestSide Story. (more singing and dancing gangs)

Which is a remake of Romeo and Juliette.

Hadn't thought that about Grease good point man but still shouldn't be remade neither should West Side Story.
I wish they would remake The Stand. That shit they threw together and put on TV sucked and didn't do the book justice. Big budget with Spielburg? at the helm and real good stars in it's place.
Same with IT. I mean Harry Anderson, Richard Thomas and John Ritter? Give me a break.

I completely agree. The TV movie was shit.

Being a huge Stephen King fan, I've got to say the only King adaptation that did his books any justice was the 1997 miniseries The Shining. Probably because ABC gave King a blank check to redo it. King wrote the screenplay and got Mick Garris to direct. I just wish they had picked a better cast. Steven Weber & Rebecca de Mornay were rather dull in their roles, although Weber had huge shoes to filll.

The only other films or miniseries that had anything to do with King that were absolutely amazing were Storm Of The Century & Kingdom Hospital.

I wish Dimension Films would hurry up with the Cell adaptation.

"Nil satis nisi optimum. (Nothing but the best will do.)"
"I hate it when things don't go my way. It makes me so...horny." - Sarah Michelle Gellar (Kathryn, Cruel Intentions)
"Sex is just alone time with someone else there." - Taint on The Lex And Terry Show, 11/11/09
"Stupidity isn't a crime, so you're free to go."
"I am The Devil, too. There can only be one devil. One of us must go." - Ozzy Osbourne at the end of his cover of "Sympathy For The Devil"
"Your ego is not your amigo." - Nikki Sixx, The Heroin Diaries
"It's my world. I'm just letting you live here." - Mandy, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy

I haven't seen much of his done that I've liked either. I did like The Green Mile but, I like Hanks and the big guy that played John Coffee.
I also liked Nicholson in The Shining as well as Scatman Crothers.
The one with the shit weasels? (dream catcher?) would have been better if it would have had better people in it.
I liked Cell and am looking forward to it. Aren't they doing Duma Key as well? Good book.
I'm another huge King fan and applaud all of the above The Stand sucked huge balls, I would change my mind to remake that one ... it was just horrible. IT could have been better, but like The Stand, they need to not make them for TV ... the books are rated R and should not be played down and shortened for TV. The Stand was around 1500 pages (the newer unedited version anyway) and needs to be about a 3 hour movie that is rated R for just about everything a movie can be rated R for.

I too cannot wait for Cell and Duma Key, they both seemed like they were actually written to be movies.

Do you know if Eli Roth is still set to direct Cell? Or was he just helping with the script? Cell was a good read, I didn't like the ending but it was still a good story.
So far the only thing I've heard is that it's going to TV. Fucked that one up IMO.
I actually liked "The stand" mini series haha. Trash can man ftw! Plus that girl who gets seduced by the devil was a hottie.

@ innocentmisery: The Kingdom Hospital is not original Stephen King stuff. It was bought from Lars von Trier who made the original series "Kingdom/Riget" based on his own ideas.
Obviously the original is vastly superior to the King crap.

How anyone can prefer the "The shining" TV series over Kubrick's masterpiece is beyond me. Okay so it has more shit from the book in the TV series. That doesn't make it good though. It dragged on and on and Kubrick knew he should just cut the fat and make a bad ass movie. Oh, he the same with "A clockwork orange" but only had to cut 1 final chapter from the book which would've made the movie less powerful.

So cell is going to be a TV movie? Fuck me.... It's a gory zombie story.
I kind of wish Stephen King would do more acting.

That's what I've read so far. Big mistake in my book.

Roth backed out of it a while ago. No word yet about his replacement.

Last I heard, Dimension is still planning on it being a theatrical release. Haven't heard anything about it being a TV movie.

Too bad Roth left the project, a lot of people don't like him but I enjoy his movies. I hope you're right about it not being a TV movie. I just don't see how that would work.

I just want to see how King changed the ending. In November, he said the screenplay's ending is different than the book's ending because he had received a lot of complaints about the book's ending.

Interesting, I'm really curious to see cell get made now. The ending wasn't horrible it's just that after the great beginning and middle the ending left me wanting a bit more.

A great book always does
I'd like to see a remake of 'Barbarella'.
That would be a good one Irma. With Scarlet Johansson as Barbarella
I love Scarlett, but she may be too serious? I thought Christina Aguilera might be good. They could do a rock musical version. John Taylor could play Duran Duran.4JOpqgj3KdgBdJMS

I like the rock musical idea but I think that Christina lacks the curves needed to be Barbarella.
I bet a bit of CGI could sort that.
