It's about their divorce

And I think divorce and the effect on kids is the saddest thing ever

Nobody Home - Pink Floyd (1979)

I've got a little black book with my poems in
Got a bag with a toothbrush and a comb in
When I'm a good dog they sometimes throw me the bone in

I got elastic bands keeping my shoes on
Got those swollen hand blues
I got thirteen channels of shit on the TV to choose from

I've got electric light
And I've got second sight
I got amazing powers of observation

And that is how I know
When I try to get through
On the telephone to you
There'll be nobody home

I've got the obligatory Hendrix perm
And the inevitable pinhole burns
Now all down the front of my favorite satin shirt

I've got nicotine stains on my fingers
I've got a silver spoon on a chain
Got a grand piano to prop up my mortal remains

I've got wild staring eyes
And I've got a strong urge to fly
But I got nowhere to fly to

Ooh, babe when I pick up the phone
There is still nobody home

I've got a pair of Gohills boots
And I got fading roots...
Guess that's why they call them the blues. Elton John
I Can't Make You Love Me
As Sung by Will Downing

Turn down the lights, turn down the bed.
Turn down these voices inside my head.
Lay down with me. Tell me no lies.
Just hold me close, don't patronize.
Don't patronize me.
'Cause I can't make you love me if you don't.
You can't make your heart feel something that it won't.
Here in the darkness, in these final hours, I will lay down my heart.
I feel the power.
But you won't. No, you won't.
And I can't make you love me if you don't.

I close my eyes, then I won't see.
The love you don't feel when you're holding me.
Morning will come, and I'll do what's right.
Just give me til then to give up this fight,
And I will give up this fight.

Cause I can't make you love me, if you don't.
You can't make your heart feel something that it won't.
Here in the dark, in these final hours.
I will lay down my heart; I'll feel the power, but you won't.
No, you won't.
And, I can't make you love me if you don't.
There ain't no way,
if you don't love me Baby!
Ain't no use in you trying
If you don't
If you don't love me
There ain't nothing I can do

Virginia Satir in her famous book "Peoplemaking" says that divorce is like falling off a cliff. That is for the two people divorcing, but they often know they can find someone else. Kids seldom know that. It is tragic.
Someone Like You - Adele
for the longest time rainbow connection used to make me cry. i guess i "grew" into the song cos now i use it as a lullaby

Say. Her. Name.

How am i suppose to live without you - Michael Bolton

Paper Aeroplane - Kasey Chambers
Think of Laura - Christopher Cross
No One wants Forever #2 - Laurel Music
Tears In Heaven - Eric Clapton

Yes that's the one.

I always well up when I hear this. It was, I believe, the last song he did before he died and it's that which, combined with the lyrics, makes the song so powerful,

When I was younger, I thought this song was the usual ballad bollocks.

Musically, I still don't like it, but since I have had kids, it's very hard to listen to.
