Is it good?
I have always had a grudge against him because I thought he parlayed his friendship with David Foster Wallace (my avatar!) into publicity after Wallace killed himself. I read Franzen's Freedom, but didn't like it, though I am very willing to admit I am overly biased.
Would you recommend Purity?
I didn't like it much; it seemed tedious throughout to me. The Corrections is the only other book I have read by him and I loved it..that is why i chose Purity to try him again and I wanted to like it, but I didn't love Purity so I cannot recommend it.
