ADC,WIC, welfare, food stamps, special schools that babysit the kids while they finish 8th grade, parenting classes because they're not done being children so how would they know how to diaper a baby?
Frankly I'm sick of my taxes paying for it and sick of bleeding hearts making excuses for them and their parents.

I'm right on the same page with you about welfare, and that is not just underage pregnancies. There is a whole segment of society living that way. I definitely believe that these people need to take responsibility for their actions and the consequences of those actions, why should it be the government's responsibility to bail them out.

What I'm saying is that by law and moral standard we are telling kids, "Sex does not exist for you, until you are 18." The fact is the instinctual urge kicks in much earlier than that. So by making the act illegal and the topic , we are creating a no mans land where kids learn from kids, and at the age where experimentation starts to happen they generally feel like they are adult enough to make their own decisions.

So again, I'm asking are we giving the right message by setting a moral standard through law?

Many on this very thread have admitted underage experimentation and sexual activity. Does the moral standard reflect the reasonable conduct of individuals?

I can't imagine why a kid does not pay attention in sex ed class or health class. It's covered in all kinds of ways if you just get them to stop texting long enough to listen. This is what happens when you have sex. It's easy. There isn't any changes in morals or laws. People are just now waking up to the fact that it's against the law to have sex with a minor. And that having sex whether or not you're a minor results in STDs and babies.
I swear the US is getting dumber by the day.

I see what you're talking about PM, but I think laws still have to be made and a line drawn in the sand. I've never bought the "they're just gonna do it anyway, let's make it legal" argument, because that leads to disaster and chaos. Developing children need direction, values, and a moral compass, and the ones that get that end up responsible adults. The ones that don't get it, unfortunately, typically end up with problems for the rest of their lives. Society can only do so much and we've seen, after all these years, that throwing money at it doesn't solve it.
