Good morning and Happy Polar Bear Day!

Old friend and his wife were in town so we met them for dinner. We have kept in touch online but haven't met in person in years. Nice time was had.

Darjeeling and a doughnut, please.

A strange little something for Halloween.

Strange Rites

Happy Polar Bear Day. I will definitely check out Bear's story in the next day or so.

I've spent the afternoon writing and revising New York Minute 28. I hope to have it ready to submit tomorrow. I don't want to start a comp story until I have that finished.

I know what you mean about gay male stories, Kimmi. A relatively new writer, HappyDude50, has a new story that I found intriguing. The Unusual Spa Day. I know he'd appreciate some attention for his story.

One of my favorite parts about story modding is the time that I spend working with new/newer writers, helping them to find their author's voice and/or working on grammar and such. It's like teaching, without the snotty middle schoolers or the entitled college students.

Thx, Kat! I’ll read his now!

Kindness is contagious. Spread it! ❤️

Hey! Look what someone left outside my cave!

Awww…they're so sweet! They remind me of some of my favourite humans.

I ate them, too, BTW.

BDSM for the competition, eh?

There's going to be STIFF competition for this one!

He sure is. Whether we want him or not.😉🤣

Those polar bear cupcakes are so cuuuuuute that I almost hate to have one. Almost being the operative word. 😁

A strange little something for Halloween.

Strange Rites

Slipping in, late in the evening for a nightcap and one of those polar bear cupcakes. If it wasn't for the two eyes, I would say those cupcakes resemble something other than a polar bear. LOL

Since this room seems to like its music, I wanted to try and contribute a longer piece worth watching. It is about the only guy that Jimi Hendrix said was a better guitar player than he was. Pretty stout endorsement about a guitarist that so few know much about.

WTF? No coffee and tea yet?

Grunts and gets Bertha going on some Tobermory Flowerpot Island coffee

For us tea drinkers there's English Breakfast and Coronation Street (kind of a fruity, flowery blend).

Goodies will no doubt follow soon.

And good morning. We have had two rounds of thunderstorms in the past 24 hours. Where the heck is winter? At a resort? On a cruise?

Contemplating the comp. I have done the BD part of BDSM before (before you go looking, this was on my previous, now deleted, profile) but it's not really my thing. And I have stories on the go that I would like to keep going. Still, if something comes to me, we shall see.

Bear is probably in a sugar coma from all the cupcakes. I made another batch of heart cookies since they disappear quickly. I will set them on the bar and grab a cup of that tea.

No gym today. Just a swim and focusing on writing today.

Cheers

I enjoyed Terry Kath’s guitar playing and especially enjoyed his lead vocals on Chicago’s “Colour My World.”

(wanders in, slumps down)

Oh fuck.

I HATE head colds, and I've got a doozy. That's why I slept in, folks – that's my excuse, and I'm stuck with it.

(looks around – smiles)

Well, it's nice to know that I get by with a little help from my friends.

Thanks, Ape, thanks, Kat. Thanks, Bertha and Tea Kettle. Nice to see you're all in fine metal!

Evening all, What I thought was Food Poisoning after 2 days turned out to be an infected appendix. So a trip to local ER hospital for tests and then an 90 mile ambulance ride to another hospital for emergency surgery. From the time we arrived I was out of surgery and in my room 2 hours later. No alcohol allowed while on Antibiotics so how about a glass of water with glacier ice from Bear’s country. Night all.

Dave....sorry to hear about the emergency appendectomy. I had to have my appendix removed in an emergency. What I thought was bad indigestion turned out to be an appendix that was about to burst. Take care and take your meds.

Hello Room - It looks like it was a quiet day in here today. Maybe people were afraid to stop in and catch Bear's head cold.

I hosted my 5th annual watching of the last episode of MASH tonight. It was on 2/28/83 that the last episode was aired in 77% of all living rooms in the United States. I served creamed weiners, creamed spinach, and creamed corn, with Grape Nehi to drink. Those of you who are MASH fans can surely appreciate it. The show always has meaning for me for how sad it is to tell someone goodbye that you have spent a lot of time with, such as a work colleague, or a friend who is moving away. Anyway, we had a great time watching the episode and the Grape Nehi was delicious.

Hope all are well and looking forward to Leap Day.

Sorry to hear, Dave. And grateful that you found time to read Kimmi's and my spanking story.

Get well soon, my friend!

And welcome back Lion! A little birdie tells me you haven't been entirely yourself. Glad to see you back at the popsicle stand!

Glad you were here to do set up. I'm a bit under the weather, although better today than yesterday, when I felt like death warmed over.

So, let me offer an appropriate tune for you…

Good morning all y’all. Great to see our Lion back spinning great tunes! 😘🦁

Dave, so sorry to hear about your experience. I thought I had food poisoning early last week and discovered it was norovirus. Yours was much more serious and I hope you recover quickly.

Finally got the remaining tours planned for our fall anniversary trip to Europe. The last thing scheduled is a class on making croissants in Paris. Can't book the catacombs until 60 days in advance. Otherwise, the trip is planned. It's been fun! Now we just need to wait until Oct. And while I can't afford to stay in some of the fancy hotels that Mac and Grace have stayed in, I'm quite impressed with the places Kevin has booked for our stays along the way. It'll be a once-in-a-lifetime trip. The kind you take when you've been married 50 years, but we aren't waiting that long. If I have learned anything about what my friends are going through with the husband having Alzheimer's and the wife's regret about not retiring sooner so they could travel like they always planned, it's that you don't wait. Tomorrow is not a promise. It's a gift.

Speaking of Mac and Grace, the latest part of their story published yesterday. I hope y’all will check it out when you get a chance. Thanks to those who already have.

Molly, I have fond memories of watching MASH. It was one of my mom’s favorite shows. Sounds like a fun gathering.

Off to the gym in a bit. Then a swim later this morning and a hair appointment later in the afternoon. I've got a couple of ideas in mind for the new comp. Now I just need to find time to write.

Happy Thirsty Thursday, all y’all! 🍺🍻🍷🍹🍸

Indeed! Hey everybody – it's Sadie Hawkins Day!

Or am I the only one who remembers L'il Abner?

It's also Pirates of Penzance Day – for all of you who were born on February 29th.

And Molly, it's odd that you mention MASH because Lady Jay and I discovered that the entire series – all eleven years of it – are available on Disney+, which we got for our granddaughters.

We've been watching all of the episodes, and have found that while we remember some, we missed a bunch of others.

So – Grape Nehi all around! Radar's favourite drink!

Good that you got it caught and dealt with. My appendix was weird. I had soreness in the area for a long time but few other symptoms. Turned out that it was an abscessed appendix. So instead of an emergency removal, the doc hammered it with intravenous antibiotics to deal with the infection, gave it a couple months to settle, then did an elective removal. That was in 1990 before they started doing keyhole for appendix so I have a nice scar to show for it.

Good morning, all. Got snow again here but not for long. Supposed to warm up again.

Red Rose and a jam doughnut.

So, Lady Jay is a LONG-time Gord Lightfoot fan. She and her girlfriend of longest-standing (NOT oldest friend) would go down to Massey Hall in Toronto, which was Gord's second home, and listen to him about once a year – for as long as he was alive. Sometimes, on a fine day, we would walk down by his house on a quiet dead-end, overlooking one of the ravines in Toronto, just to look.

She went into mourning when he died.

Then she came to me with great excitement a while back to say that The Lightfoot Band – Rick Haynes, Barry Keane, Mike Heffernan, and Carter Lancaster – the guys that played with Lightfoot, some of them for more than 40 years – were going to be in town playing a concert.

So we went. They recruited an American guitarist whom they and Gord had met over 40 years ago, and who had played with them from time to time, Andy Mauk. He sings in a bass register and sang Gord's parts pretty well, plus played guitar, mostly 12-string. He was very good, but he was missing Gord's charisma.

Mauk also looked a bit stunned. He said that before the band contacted him, he had been playing bar gigs in Florida. Now he was playing sold-out auditoriums across Canada, and they were getting Standing O's.

Such is the magic of Lightfoot's music…

Just checking into the room and waving my arms wildly to see if anyone notices.....

I usually see everything, but hiding as I do behind a peephole or viewfinder, it's hard to judge my reaction.

Good moves though. Sinuous.

Sleepy, grumpy Bear this morning. Up late, to sleep even later…

Tea Kettle is refilled and hot. There are pots of Red Rose and … other stuff … available on the sideboard, plus all the other stuff in the box. Sachets of that chocolate stuff are available, with marshmallow things.

Big Bertha has been sort of cleaned, refilled, and is now … doin' stuff.

Today we're using coffee. Dunno which brand. First one that came to hand. Tough.

I've put out donuts – take 'em or leave 'em.

Cookies. At least I think they're cookies…

Going back to bed.

'Bye

Oof! You are a grumpy bear! Hope you are able to get some more sleep. 🛌 😴💤

I’m a bit tired as well. Woke up to call my youngest to wish her a happy birthday on the moment she turned her new age. Then I couldn’t fall back to sleep for the longest time. Hubby told me to sleep in since I don’t have a gym session this morning. But the kitty decided otherwise. 🐾🐾🐈‍⬛🙀😹😻

So, a cup of tea and what looks like a cookie for me please and thank you! I’m up, so ai might work on some ideas for the comp story.

TGIF all y’all! 😎
