And with the introductions done, let's get things rolling. It's Market Day, so I have to be elsewhere…

Lights are on, Lady Dryad has cleaned up and we’re ready to get things rolling.

Tea Kettle is refilled and ready. There are pots of Red Rose and Earl Grey teas available on the sideboard, plus all the other fine teas in the box. Sachets of Swiss Miss are available, along with the usual mound of mini marshmallows.

Big Bertha has been cleaned, rinsed, and refilled, and is now perkin' away.

Today we're using Loon Call Breakfast Blend coffee beans from Muskoka Coffee Roasters, for all you loonies!

I've put out donuts.

Plus I've got some chocolate biscotti for y'all.

Take care out there, 'K?

Uh…I hate to be picky and all, but the shop name is backwards. It should be the other way around so that potential customers can read it properly.

But then … only a Bear-tender would bitch about such things when there are such … confections … available to gawk at!

I read that as her being inside and the gawkers being outside with the shop's name stenciled on the window glass. So it is backwards precisely because it is facing the gawkers, not the gawked. As you say it should. 😊

And hello to Hunny. Welcome to Rump's, the only bar that doubles as a menagerie. Mostly four-limbed life but there's Terrance to represent those with more.

Good morning all. Crap weather. I am alternating between getting out the door and wildly embracing change at work. Danny Glover's famous line from Lethal Weapon, "I'm getting too old for this shit" keeps coming to mind.

Earl Grey and a couple biscotti.

A vacation encounter as a man seeks to cope with a less than merry holiday season

My Natasha

Good morning from rainy Michigan! Had a fun night with my kids and grandkids last night, as well as my youngest daughter's future MIL and SIL. Today is the wedding shower, and tonight we will visit another eatery in downtown Detroit. I'm excited to celebrate my girl, but also to see ALL of my sisters today. It's a rare occasion that we are all in the same place at the same time. Since some of them can't come to the wedding this fall, it may be one of the last times for quite some time.

I'll have some breakfast tea, please, while I do a bit of modding before it's time to get ready. And welcome, Hunny!

AND it’s the title of my story, so I wanted it facing that way!!! Grrr! (Walks off grumbling that polar bears think they know everything just because they’re big and fierce and all that…)

You forgot "smart" – "big and fierce and smart" Kimmi.

Just trying to be helpful, as always…"helpful" is my middle name, y'know…

Besides, the title of the story will be in plain text, right below the cover art. As you know. And it will face forwards, so if anyone can't figure it out from that, then they probably can't read anyway!

Up to 14 entries over on StoriesSpace and they're good ones. All interesting takes on the theme. We've even got the makings of a sexy, action-packed Hollywood thriller in the second to latest entry (Yes, in a comp called Summer Love. It works, don't worry.) More would be welcome. Kimmi says she knows of 2-3 possibles who aren't in yet but let's not stop there.

Well, Hunny, welcome and we're glad to have you – so to speak.

We have coffee, all kinds of tea (I'm a tea drinker myself), espresso, hot chocolate – and lots of other stuff behind the bar.

Allow me to introduce you to some of the found-ins and reprobates that hang around here – or at least most of the more common ones, although none of them are common.

Lion is our Master DJ, whose knowledge of music is encyclopedic. A country boy, and a charming one.

Ape is, by his own profession, a metal head-banger from the Great White North, who doesn't live far from me.

Kimmi is a cute, kind, delicious scribbler (her words, not mine) who happens to be one of the most accomplished writers in Lushland – althought she says she's taking a break from erotica, yet keeps churning it out.

Milik the Red is recently solo and English, alas, but a charming storyteller. I'd recommend keeping on his good side as he keeps a pet dragon. Red, of course.

Dave has a strange screen name, but don't let that fool you. He's friendly and fun and supportive. You'll like him.

Kat is our red-headed beach cat, and one of the originals from when the bar was first founded – or found, I'm not quite sure which. She is perhaps the most accomplished writer here, and a joy and a delight as a friend.

You'll encounter our staff eventually, but let me warn you that Terrance, our head of security, is a tarantula who, in warm weather, hangs out in the rafters and keeps his multiple eyes on everyone – especially the till. Miss Pixel is our night watchcat. You probably won't see her – and if you do, either run towards her (for protection), or away from her (if you've done something you shouldn't – which gives you a LOT of latitude around here), but do NOT get in a fight with her. I speak from experience!

There's a dumpster hot tub in the back, Storeroom #4 is supposed to be off-limits to customers, but seems to have been appropriated by Kimmi and Kat for their boy-toys. If you speak nicely to them, they might show you their wares – and perhaps even ask to see yours!

Now, just out of curiosity – exactly how good a girl are you?

Asking for a friend…

Good Evening, everyone. Bear, thank you for the very warm welcome as many of the others.

That is quite a list of wonderful people I hope to get to know ,. I will try and stay away from Ms. Pixil, so I don't sneeze....

I do prefer tea, but there are those days a coffee or hot chocolate can always be nice.

That hot tub sounds nice. I might need to ask the girls if I can check it out.~smiles~

I am from the North East as of now. I will be moving to the Carolinas very soon.

As for the "asking for a friend"~giggles~ I'm sweet as hunny.~ winks~ but that can always change.

After having a think or two, I might like it better with the title backwards. Remember, I’m a woman, and as such, will frequently change my mind. So with great pain, I utter the words, “Bear is smarter than me.”

Hi, there! Great to see you! 😘

Et toi! I hope you are well, and not causing too much trouble 😜

This is my collection of muses and stories. Stories of note include:

Little Bird - A true story of submission and dominance set in Paris between an older couple and their younger lover.

Le Weekend - Six lives intertwined during one weekend create events that change their lives forever.

Will Ricard's do? It's all I have out back. We don't get a lot of call for Cassis, AB.

I'll put it on Lion's tab, shall I, AB?

You are too kind, and this is reasonable. 😜 I am sure Carl will not mind this once. Twice? Well I would have to return the favour in some way. 😘

Good morning. Some Cole Zero to get my brain focused as we spend one more day showing my girl’s fur tire in laws the highlights of Detroit. So much fun was had yesterday both at the shower and hanging out downtown. Hitting Eastern Market this morning.

Tomorrow we pick up my brother and take him back home with us for a month. Since I won’t be galavanting around as much for the next month, I may actually get some writing done!

Cheers! 💋

I'll Be Home For Christmas - Holly spends Advent preparing for Nick's return.

From your spelling, Kat, I would suggest maybe you need some Alka-Seltzer as well as "Cole Zero"! I also happen to have a hangover cure if that might be of interest.

And yes, it is Sunday – and a big day at Casa Orso! We're having my Tai Chi group in for a gathering, and I'm making my Famous Sangria, so I'll leave a pitcher or six on the counter here for y'all to enjoy.

Coffee's brewing, teas are Red Rose and Honeysuckle Rose Hips – whatever that is!

Donuts, pastries – all the usual.

And Kimmi, you seem to have managed to restock Storeroom #4 somehow.

(shrugs) As long as you pay for their food and drink – and I won't look too closely at who they eat.

I mean "what" they eat!

I take it you haven't yet had an up-close-and-personal discussion with Terance, our head of security – or Miss Pixel, our bouncer.

I'd be careful what you tried around here, my Red and thirsty friend!

Good morning!! Sunday has arrived. Frankly, I want Saturday back but whatever.

Me soooooo ready to retire and find something fun to do.

I have those days more and more and with my "official" retirement date (Canada Pension Plan assumes 65 but Ontario actually did away with mandatory retirement so it's only official from the standpoint of collecting a pension) only a few years off, it is getting more and more tempting.

I posted this in the music group yesterday, commenting that it might be the most beautiful song I have discovered this year (this version dates to 2009). Singers are late prog rocker John Wetton (King Crimson, Asia), who also wrote the song, and Anneke van Giersbergen (ex-The Gathering), a Dutch artist with roots in metal but all over the map stylistically these days. The Lion asked me to repost here. Enjoy.

Anneke is a wonderful singer-songwriter from the Netherlands who is well worth your while to look for on your streamer of choice or on YouTube.

And the original recording from 2006 by Icon, a project of Wetton and his Asia bandmate Geoff Downes. Anneke is also the female vocalist on this version. It's a full band performance vs. the acoustic one above, which is from one of Anneke's albums. I prefer the acoustic version but it's a beautiful song either way.

I am trying to write a story for it, only I have been too busy so it might not happen. I did write a new story for Lush and just submitted it. Another Mythadventure AND I made books covers for my two previous ones!

Well, it's Moan-day again. No doubt about THAT!

Oh well…

Today we're using Kick Ass coffee, because.

I've put out donuts.

And peanut butter cookies.

I did have a look at this competition, and I thought the theme was a good one. 😊 Maybe, one day I will try to write something to go on StoriesSpace, though if I do, it will almost certainly not be in the UK summer months... 🙄

After nearly a week away camping with friends, it will be nice to get back to writing tomorrow. A nice cup of Yorkshire Tea for me, Bear. The strong stuff, thank you. 😉
