So the market was good, but quiet!

It's low season, not many people selling veg, but the usual eggs, meats, and even some apple vendors still.

Our favourite GF baker was there, which is nice because we get home-baked gluten-free bread every week!

Busy working on two projects at once: re-launching Bear and Girl, and starting work on self-publishing my father's biography.

Can't have Meatloaf without a side helping of his longtime collaborator, also no longer among us, Jim Steinman. A couple of his compositions made famous by folks other than Meatloaf.

First up, for my money the best of the many songs put on record by Quebecois great Celine Dion. I'm not actually that big a Celine fan but this is her at her best and remains my favourite interpretation of the song (Meatloaf did eventually do it as well, but long after Celine).

And Bonnie Tyler was another frequent Steinman collaborator. "Total Eclipse of the Heart" was probably the first Steinman composition I ever heard and I was instantly entranced.

ONe more for the road. "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All" was a Steinman composition that was first a hit for Aussie rock band Air Supply and I remember it well as an Air Supply song, only finding out later that it was a Steinman song. Bonnie Tyler then took it on in 1995 with Steinman himself producing and a few altered lyrics. The operatic samples, by the way, are apparently by soprano Elsie Hopkins, aka Bonnie's mother.

Picking up after two GREAT wildcard NFL games yesterday being capped with the Chicago Bears unbelievable win over Green Bay.

The Chicago Bears were down by 18 points at halftime (21-3) and were still trailing by 11 points (27-16) with under seven minutes left in the 4th quarter before staging their comeback to beat the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Wild Card game on January 10, 2026, ultimately taking the lead with a touchdown pass from Caleb Williams to D.J. Moore with 1:43 remaining.

I also saw the news about Bob Weir. RIP Bobby. You will be missed. I’ve been a deadhead since college. I have seen the Dead several times, as well as Dead and Company. I still recall being at Jerry’s last show in Chicago a month before he passed away in 1995. Such an amazing group of people.
