Thank you for opening today, Lion – even if you did turn the temperature up WAY too high!

Oh well – I'll stick some ice down my apron. I'll survive.

As for the video – yeah, that was cousin Filbert with that shaggy camouflage drapped over his head. And I've told him he really needs to stop smoking. It's not good for his health. He just laughs.

Anyone seen Kimmi yet today?

And Lion, are you SURE you want to drive into that mess? No one doubts your courage, but the roads are going to snarled for days, and the state troopers are going to have their hands full for some time. Discretion might be the better part of your valour – perhaps postpone the trip? We'd hate to see anything happen to you.

Snow is falling here but not very intense yet. We are kind of on the Northern edge of the system, so only 10-15cm (4-6in) is expected here. Take care and stay safe those of you taking a direct hit. Some Irish Breakfast tea would go good with a cupcake, I think.

🤣 Fond memories of Breaking the Law - I used to ride to school with a guy who's fav album was British Steel. He would crank it full blast and we would get wasted on the way to school every morning. The best part was we used to pick up 2 regular hitchhikers who were also holding. Shockingly I eventually quit school.

I'd like a coffee please.

Be careful driving here, Fuzzy Lion!

I’m probably going to be in Lexington though, celebrating my son’s bday. We had to cancel plans this weekend.

Wasn't much into metal yet back then but I remember seeing Priest videos on the local music TV station's "Power Hour". And I have been listening to the band occasionally nowadays. Rob Halford is still looking and sounding pretty good in his 70s. Sadly, original guitarist Glenn Tipton has Parkinson's so gave up touring other than a guest appearance or two.

Our weather here is settling down time to dig out the snow storm we were lucky with only 9" of snow and it's powdery so easier to move. Now just fighting the bitter cold.

8 degrees F or ^13.33 C.

Watching Denver Broncos vs New England Patriots just starting 4th with snow taking the game, covering the field. in a direction neither team is enjoying

And it's a cold and snowy Moan-Day.

Toronto got a record-breaking amount of snow yesterday – about 50 cm = 20". Plus they've had a record-breaking January for snowfall.

And it's cold.

We got snow here, but only about 8" – enough to frolic in, and close the schools, but not paralyzing.

And I understand Kat's expecting some harsh weather as well – temperatures down into the 30sF!

Those poor, poor people!

Anyway – let's get things rolling…

Lights on, Lady Dryad has cleaned up and we’re ready to roll.

Tea Kettle is refilled and ready. There are pots of Yorkshire and English Breakfast teas available on the sideboard, plus all the other fine teas in the box. Sachets of Swiss Miss are available, along with the usual mound of mini marshmallows.

Big Bertha has been cleaned, rinsed, and refilled, and is now perkin' away.

Today we're using Kick Ass Coffee blend from Kicking Horse Coffee Roasters.

There are donuts.

Plus I've got some coffee flavoured buttercream cuppycakes to help Kat with her modding chores – plus Coke Zero, of course.

Take care out there, 'K?

The weekend was nice, but the cold weather is creeping back in for the next two weeks. It sadly means no swimming for my brother, but it is better than him being up north in the frozen tundra.

Thanks for the cuppycakes and Coke Zero. Though I'm not big into coffee flavour, I won't turn down a nice gesture.

We are going fridge shopping after lunch. Need to find a good dented or scratched one for my garage. I can't believe we will finally be able to do bulk shopping again at Costco. The last time we did that was 5 days before Hurricane Helene (and lost all of that food). Normal never felt so good! 😎

Hi all. I have just popped in to say take care. We're getting a lot of news coverage about the extreme weather in the USA/Canada. Here in southern England, it is going to be wet and windy soon with a storm blowing in, but nothing as extreme as you are having over there! 😨

Bear, as it is too cold for me to pop over, could you please zap me a hot mug of Yorkshire Tea? Thank you. 😊

I saw that. Wow. We got the forecast 10-15cm. I saw 17 quoted for London but I shoveled and I am not sure it was that deep. But 50 is 😲🥶. Last time we had a storm like that was 2010 just before Christmas.

Yorkshire here as well.

I have a Sears Kenmore garage refrigerator that has lasted 30 years. I thought I would look them up to perhaps make a recommendation for you. Of course Sears is out of business. Probably because they made such a good product.. What shocked me is that at Home Depot garage refrigerators cost about $1000. Wow. I hope you are successful in finding one that is good and affordable.

Maybe Kat could buy your garage fridge from you?

Welcome, S7williams, to Rumplations – the greatest bar within these four walls!

I'm James, but everyone calls me Bear, owing to my sweet disposition.

Well, that plus the fact that I'm a Canadian Polar Bear might have something to do with it.

We're an equal-opportunity harrasser around here, so pull up a stool, set a spell, and tell us all the little things you won't tell your spouse.

I suspect you've been keeping an eye on goings on so you probably know some of the deadbeats and dirty stop-outs who frequent this joint.

But just so you know, I'm the Chief Bear-keep around here. Rumplations owns the joint, but he's in semi-retirement, by which I mean he reclines in the broken-down lounger at the back most of the time. Either there or the dumpster hot tub out back.

Our Head of Security is Terrance the tarantula, who is also our bill collector, so watch your tab, OK?

And our night watchperson is Miss Pixel. She's a cat, so she goes without saying, but you REALLY don't want to piss her off.

So – first drink's on the house. What's your poison, person?

And with the formalities dispensed with, let us open da bar, says da Bear!

Today we're using Balzac's Blend coffee, just because it's what I could lay my hands on

I've put out donuts.

Plus I've got some homemade peanut butter cookies. I know they're homemade because it says so right here on the package.

Take care out there, 'K?

Did I hear that the first drink is on the house?

Mine's a triple whisky then, which I need for pure medicinal reasons. 🙄😈

S7williams, a warm welcome to Rumplications (or Rumpee's, as we patrons call it when Bear is out of earshot).

Don't tell Bear, but here are a couple of little Rumpee's tips. Don't worry too much about Terrance; he's adorable and, importantly, ticklish. Just look past his 8 hairy legs, his multiple eyes, and his two fangs, and rub his underbelly. He will soon curl up, chuckling.

As for Miss Pixel. She is sharp and will catch you. But she is also a mouser. So bring a table tennis ball and bounce it in front of her. She will chase it for the rest of the night.

Pappy was Jim Beam’s vice president of sales during USA prohibition. He kept the distillery going by selling to priests and monks of the Catholic Church who needed to buy alcohol in order to have wine to say Mass..

Thanks wxt. I am forewarned. Must go … kitchen beacons <<coffee>>. Caio for now!

They don't make ‘em like Sears’ Kenmore anymore.

But we found a used Whirlpool full sized side-by-side for $399 at the used appliciance store. Perfect for our garage, and our pockets. 😎

Welcome, btw. I'm Kat, a reader, writer, story and group mod, and lover of buttercream cuppycakes. I've been a patron of Rumps since page one. It's a great place to be. 🥰🍻

Hiya S7! smile

And Sears… brings back memories. My sis and I would fight over the Sears Christmas catalogue every Christmas. Fold the pages of toys we wanted that Mom said Santa would see. :)

That was THE place for so many things.

Still fucking freezing here. I’m feeding birds on balcony since I don’t wanna trudge knee-deep in snow drifts to get to the feeder.

Since drinks are free, I’ll take TWO hot cocoas with a bag of mini marshmallows. yes
