Have a wonderful vacation, Bear, and I hope you don't moult too much!. 😎

Before you leave us for the beach, a mug of Yorkshire Tea, please. Thank you.

I have just read Kimmi and WW's vamp story. I'm sure no one here in Rumplation's will be surprised to hear me say their collaborative story is excellent. The level of writing is "top-notch".

Good morning. Sunny again but still cold. This is the kind of January I can live with. I think I am up to 2 full days without getting the shovel out. And only flurries coming on the weekend.

Hope to do some writing this weekend but I am also doing a lot of cooking. Made pancakes for breakfast and then will do mac and cheese for lunch.

A nice strong cup of English Breakfast tea please. What, tarantulas can't run a kettle? sighs and gets behind the bar

Its weird, everyone has been complaining about the weather but up north here we've had a good winter. A few minor snowfalls, a week of chilly temps and now its almost spring. I've only used my snowblower once.

I'm writing tons but finishing nothing. Just not satisfied with the quality. And | keep starting new stories that spin off whatever I'm working on. And my spanking story somehow ended up as a story about a cute fairy. I may have to cut back on the weed. Or not.

Coffee please, hope everyone has a great weekend!

If your blower is getting lonely, you can always send it here for a while.🙄 Because I've lost count of how many times we've had to clear our drive since the start of winter weather here in Southwestern Ontario. My banks are probably a meter and a half and that's only because I knocked the tops off multiple times to make more room. At least we are getting some sun now, though it's PDC (Pretty Danged Cold) still. Going up to a "balmy" -5 next week, though.

Thank you, David! You know, I am an odd personality, easily stressed working with others, so I don’t collab much… especially on others’ ideas. But I’ve been blessed to find great fits with WW, Bear, and MrThespian. WW and I both like to come up with fresh takes on darker stuff. We have different writing styles, so he goes over my parts, blending it into the voice and sentence structure of his parts. I think that’s key if you want a seamless collab. We wanted a British feel to stories written with MrThespian, so he blended on those. Bear and I are probably most similar in writing structure. Regardless, if each author checks egos at the door, remains open to changes, and agrees on direction of the story, it can be a great experience. I’ve learned a lot from each collaboration. smile

I found this thought-provoking, Kimmi, having never tried (yet) to write a collab story. 😕 BTW: You certainly write collaboration stories with LushStories A-listers. 😎

In my 3 and 1/4 years of writing here, I have been approached twice to write a collaboration story. Both times it happened, the timing was wrong, as I was in the middle of writing a longer story – you may have noticed I "tend" to write books. 🙄🤣 However, the second approach option remains open (as far as I know) and may one day happen.

What discourages me is completely different from what discourages you, Kimmi. My issue is worrying about not having enough talent to make my presence worthwhile. Sad but true. Therefore, finding the right person for me would depend on someone who has a writing standard roughly equal to mine.

And, of course, having enough time to spend on the project. 😎

Aww, I hate to hear you worry about not having enough talent. What defines talent in art? I’ve never thought there was some universal definition. I think it’s subjective. I really like some stories by authors with a lot of votes and some who only get a few.. I equally like some by comp winners and some who never place. My preferences are about who makes me feel something and who writes something I haven’t read before in categories I love like supernatural, mysteries, SciFi, romance.

I have rarely collaborated. My only two were under my old profile and were me helping a new writer with her first couple stories. A lot of it is that I am just not someone who would go looking for a collab, so if no one approaches me, nothing happens. And there is, as with David, the time factor. My writing is sporadic at best nowadays between other commitments and my general struggle to focus on anything in my personal life. I would be worried about leaving a collaborator in the lurch is I hit a dry spell. Though perhaps collaborating would break or prevent the dry spell.

I have collaborated on several stories, but I learned my lesson about letting someone else list you as a collaborator. Their story ends up in you story list. I have since fixed that and always tell the person not to list me as a collaborator, although I am glad to help.
