I just call it by it's brand; like Pepsi, Coke, Fanta...

Anything like orange, apple, tropical juices are just "soft drinks"

Gin & TONIC
Gin & BITTER LEMON

Bacardi & COKE

Vodka & GINGER BEER
Vodka & LEMONADE

Whisky & DRY GINGER ALE

Brandy, Lime & SODA

I soooo love my SOFT DRINKS biggrin
in wny we call it pop but when ordering in a restaurant I always say pepsi which is usually followed up with waitress asking "is coke ok?".
depending on where I am universal Coke ... other names known here in NZ ... soft drinks or fizzy drink favourite drink is soda water with lime or lemon
In Ohio, its pop, especially when I was a kid. But now most everyone just says 'soft-drinks'.
Thanda or soft drink
I call it coke
Mostly I call it poison, occasionally I call it mix.
Wow!

From 1948, or so, on Grande Island, NY, until 1955 when we moved to Oklahoma, it was always "Pop." Afterwards it was soda.

Mostly I hear soda, or the product names. I drink very little of it, bad stuff really, but I am addicted to Root Beer Freeze. That's "Mana," a true gift from God, or some other being.

I collected "Pop" bottle caps for years until my mother threw them away. Sorted by name and everything. Crap! She also threw away a Superman #1. I don't even look any more to see what it might be worth. Last time was years ago and it was over $100,00 then. Also old batman, hulk, and a lot of others. No, I didn't kill her and I still love her. She died 30 years ago.
I am always a gentleman.
In my neck of the woods, it's called Coke. This type of conversation is had daily...

"Want a Coke?"

"Sure"

"What kind?"

"Dr. Pepper."

"Okay"

I find myself using multiple terms. Soda and coke are probably the most common.
It's a coke. I even call a Pepsi a coke. Typical pub conversation at the bar....

Katie: Can I have a coke please?
Barman: We only have Pepsi
Katie: It's the same thing!

Not sure Pepsi would be too enamoured with my attitude lol

I'm from Spain and I think I've always heard there "Coca Cola", even if it's another brand. Very few people would call it with other name, I think. Now I live in Poland and I'm not sure how they say it when speaking Polish. I speak English with everyone and, even if probably "Coke" would be more appropiate, I keep saying "Coca Cola" and everyone knows what I want smile
ginger
We call it a coke, then you are asked, what kind of coke...but there's only one kind of tea, and that's sweet!!!!!!!
I call it soda pop
Soda and Sasparilla when I want to be annoying
Coke.
why does it matter? i don't understand why this is a topic...?
