I'd guess that depends on how valuable peace is to the participants (not the observers). Following that logic, we could end up with another situation like the one in the Middle East.

If the participants value 'peace' more than their liberty, then we don't have to force them into surrendering parts of their territory, as they can make that decision themselves.

The "pro-Russian separatist" is for the most part Russian propaganda. There were Russian speaking Ukrainians that wanted more autonomy and Ukraine having closer ties to Russia instead of the EU.
Russia turned that narrative into them wanting to separate from Ukraine and becoming part of Russia. And the western media ran with that story without questioning.

Not sure what your comparison to the situation in the ME is about.

Keep in mind that in America there were around 120 laws introduced last year restricting LGBTQ rights. Make no mistake, this is the direction America is swinging.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe there's any special protection in the US Constitution regarding sexual orientation or gender identity. So in that regard your constitution is no better than Russia's.

The Republican front runner, Donald Trump, has talked about just throwing out the constitution. I guess that was just one of his “jokes” though.

What I find fascinating is that the Russian Supreme Court has not defined what it considers the movement to be. Very dangerous territory when you consider this allows officials with no constitutional training to enact their brands of justice.

Anarchism is not looking too bad when we see what countries like the US and Russia do with control.
