Yes. I was somewhat surprised that the TITANIC wreck is not protected by international law or something. Perhaps it's time to revisit Admiralty Laws, most of which are from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

As for regulating companies catering to extreme tourism, I agree wholeheartedly. How the U.S. has not regulated such companies is surprising to me, especially since early on companies wanting to engage in space tourigsm required U.S. government permission to launch the spacecraft from U.S. soil. Anyone know where the company operating the TITAN submersible was registered?

Beyond tragic and should be regulated period.

Much stronger safety regulations should be put in place with Maritime Law.

Aside from the CEO of OceanGate, who seems to have developed an unscratchable itch to BE somebody important - be be remembered as an adventurous explorer as well as a shadetree mechanic...it appears many people with working brain cells stayed the fuck away from that company.

After watching several videos over the last week, it is easy to agree with film director James Cameron's opinions and technical prowess. He's been down to Titanic over 30 times in the last 30 years.

Well, l have bungee jumped. And l have sky dived. Sky diving is scary as shit! I don't think l'll sky dive again.

Quite sure l won't be going 2 miles deep in the ocean in a submarine. Just average scubadiving depth is good enough.

Are you saying sky diving is scarier than bungee jumping? I haven't done either, but I would've thought bungee jumping would be scarier.

I'm not interested in jumping out of a perfectly operating airplane, I don't wish to go swimming anywhere which harbors larger predators which may be in a hunting mode.

I quit playing chicken with locomotives around age 11.

But if you ever get a chance to ride something like this at an amusement park... Go for it, it's a blast.
