Where in there do you me find taking issue with a black actor being cast as Cleopatra because it's inaccurate?

You seem to be making things up again.

You are mistaken. Explain yourself.

Explain why it is inaccurate besides the fact that she is black?

Quote by Chryses

Do you understand what Yasmin is saying in the quoted text?

Yes.

Now, can you explain why it is inaccurate besides the fact that she is black?

Why do you have a problem with this but not when white actors play non-white characters?

Quote by Chryses

I take it that you are having difficulty accepting the observation by Dr. El Shazly.

Why is that? She identified an inaccuracy, correct?

You are mistaken once again.

You once made an account called Penny Candy where you pretended to be a hot middle aged business lady.

Yes or No?

Quote by Chryses

I see you are struggling with the facts here.

I recommend you read the piece I linked to. Try some web searching also. Doing so might help you understand what Dr. El Shazly was saying in the quoted text.

I shall return tomorrow - if you become interested in discussing the details.

Good night Felix.

You can't rewrite history Penny Chryses.

Apparently, black people cause they're the one who want it erased.

I know, I know but still.

What in the actual fuck are you talking about? Is there anything specific you want to mention, or just tossing broad baseless generalizations out there about an entire race of people?

Don't believe everything that you read.

Not baseless. Did you forget how people, mostly black, toppled historic statues and black statues replaced them? If people start wanting to replace what happened yrs ago, then they'll have nothing to complain about but no, still continues.

I'll keep the 'oriental' dudette, but thanks for the suggestion.

Rugs are Oriental. People are Asian.

I use oriental too when speaking abous East Asia. Asia is too broad of a word so one must be specific.

w/ this subject, neither.

"Oriental" isn't even a little bit specific. Historically, refers to everything East of the Suez canal, including goods and people.

She's trying to teach you proper English.

It's like if you have a pet pig but you're like, "this is my pet pork". She's trying to teach you that "pig" would be the correct word to use.

This is why I say you were in the classroom that was just a trailer behind the school with 5 students who just colored all day.

They can be but don't have to be.

Rugs can be from Ikea as well, very good Ironic.

You must have been there lol

It's like how nowadays we say people are autistic or on the spectrum instead of you know... the R-word. Surely you understand that.

Quote by IMPURETHOUGHTS

I went to a school that made us do community service so yes, I would sometimes have to go color with the special kids and give them high fives n shit.

Quote by Ironic

And

"native or inhabitant of the east,"

You're right Ironic, you should keep saying oriental when referring to people. Don't let AngelEthics trick you into saying something dumb.

Quote by Ironic

And

"native or inhabitant of the east,"

The world is round. If you're calling someone "from the east" on a global stage, it's from someone else's perspective. In this case, the British Empire. So, instead of letting Asian people name themselves, you would rather use the term of the colonizers.

Who owns history, indeed.

Quote by Ironic

I used the link you provided. History does influence language, doesn't it?

Sure, but some people get stuck on one era of history. This term was coined in the 14th century. I can think of a lot of groups that would probably like us to not use 14th century terminology to refer to them.

Quote by Ironic

I used the link you provided. History does influence language, doesn't it?

here's the thing. you can use "oriental" if you want. i mean, it's all about you, not about what an entire race of people would prefer to be called. think of it this way - do you use ingenious people or indians? black people or negros? fags or lgbtqia? disabled or crippled? i think that's enough examples to get the point across. it's all about respect. you either care enough to be respectful or you don't. you can argue all you want, but wouldn't it be easier to just say "my bad. thanks for the heads up. from now on i will choose to be respectful of people's wishes."

ok, so why not actually be specific? Chinese. Japanese. Korean. Vietnamese. etc. Oriental is an outdated term and just tends to point out the ignorance of the person using it.

Quote by Ironic

The 14th century? Wasn't that well before the British Empire?

Ironic thinks England was in a different location in the 14th century.

Quote by Ironic

You speak for an entire race of people? How arrogant. And you say "it's all about you"?

It's time for you to rethink your opinions about many things.

There is no way she can comeback from this mic drop. I think she underestimated how smart you are Ironic.

here's the thing. those statues were lionizing traitors and slavers. they were removed for the same reason that there are not statues of Nazis in Germany. what happened years ago isn't being replaced. it still happened. it's still part of history. what is happening is that people are no longer okay with supporting it with monuments. and it wasn't just black people who toppled that shit. plenty of us white people were also involved. and god, really? they'll have nothing to complain about? do you think that slavery and discrimination and violence towards people of a specific race are simply things to complain about? pathetic. kind of showing your inner bigot/racist, aren't you.

ok, so if i object to someone using the N-word, it's just all about me? and yeah, i am totally rethinking my opinion about things. i used to think that you were a semi-decent, if misguided, dude. now? yeah, totally rethinking that.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

Quote by Ironic

No, that's not what I suggested.

You can change your opinion when given the right motivation.

why should i change my opinion simply because you don't like being called out on being disrepectful? it's simple. use this as a learning experience and from now on, don't use "oriental" anymore and go with "Asian". as i said before, it's all about respect. is it really such a hard concept to grasp or such a difficult thing to do?
