Big hugs to Sprite who is a Lush icon, to the membership and to her fellow mods. She is a constant source of inspiration to the mod team, having picked up our spirit more times than I can say. And anyone who has been here awhile knows of the countless posts of writing tips to Lush authors. She is a huge source of inspiration to me personally.

Now, on story titles. You will discover, the more you write, what works best for you. We're all unique individuals and we work differently. Have fun with it and keep striving to be even better.
I'd like to thank Nicola for this new badge. It's a great way to further recognize great efforts and results in our competitions. And thanks Gav for your hard work on creating these badges.

It's good to be back on topic - how you come up with your story titles...
There was nothing argumentative or controversial in this thread to cause anyone to leave. In fact it had been a cordial and constructive thread. The leaving must've been over something personal with another member.
Alan certainly was awesome. He was all around awesome from being a genuinely really good person to caring to being talented to having a great sense of humor.

I will NOT eat stewed okra nor black olives. I'll fight ya for fried okra ???

You're right. Okra must be fried and I like mine crunchy. But stewed or boiled okra is a big NO. That is so slippery, the texture alone makes it unpalatable.
The vast majority of people cheating are aware of what they are doing. No poll necessary.
I don't feel horny when I am hungover. But I do when I am drunk.
As far as promoting a story that won or placed in a competition.

I always promote my most recent story posted as a Forum banner for my posts. I haven't posted a story since two competitions ago when I placed second in a competition. So since I always make a graphic for that, I added the 2nd place and EP ribbon duplicate to that story's graphic. That is the first time I had done that. (A picture with titties might work the best of anything.)

I don't know that it has had any real influence on getting extra views.

I am way overdue getting a new story posted.
To cheat one has to have a counterpart. That's two cheaters.

Having been privy to the inside workings of pollsters, no, I do not take them that seriously. Polls can and are just as easily manipulated as anything. As for their scientific accuracy, I laugh. Polls, studies, surveys, most of those are biased based on what outcome the pollster or whoever the big donor behind the poll wants. They control the way the poll is executed, the way contacts are made, etc.

The best results I've seen for clients is street traffic count for potential business. And even that can have its problems. I am looking for results to take as much guess work out of what I present to clients but truthfully there is never enough accurate information to guarantee anything.

And polls used for news sources often find if there isn't enough shock value or controversy, the interest in their polls and results will not generate enough profit or fundraising (depending upon whether they are profit or non-profit based. And even in non-profits, there are many people making a living off doing that.) You gotta feed the monkey.

As for cheating, yes, many people do view that differently, enough to skew the info they would give out in a poll/survey. People in an open relationship aren't cheating but the person they are hooking up with may be but tells the other person it's all cool. Some men don't quite see hooking up with a prostitute as cheating but their wife may totally disagree. What kind of answer would a pollster get if they phone up a prostitute and asks if she has ever cheated? And how many people just aren't going to be truthful? And what results are the pollsters after? Some may want a specific result and yes, they know how to get that if that is their purpose.

The truth can easily be buried under a mountain of manure.

Common sense would be to put more faith in polls than in an assumption. The only way to know whether both genders do in fact cheat equally is to do research, like polls. One person can cheat with many other individuals who may only cheat with them. These individuals may not even be cheating at all, but could be thinking they're in a committed relationship with this one person. One gender might also be cheating more with people from the same sex. Etc.

I will have to disagree with you. I know many pollsters and have had them as clients. Talk about a racket. I'll take common sense and real life observation over them any day.

There is never a guarantee the information pollsters receive from individuals is truthful. But the biggest factor is there is usually bias in the way pollsters get their information or they just don't poll enough numbers. I've sat with a client before and told them that I don't at all believe they are getting a true demographic using their methods.

Polls to me, are mere entertainment. Physical surveys, now, those are much more accurate. That's like getting a traffic count for a certain street corner and stuff like that. Information that is much more useful than a poll.

You base that on what?

Common sense. Not many have that anymore.
For every cheating man, there is a cheating woman so it's got to be an equal ratio. If someone takes a poll and doesn't get equal numbers then either they're incompetent or they polled some liars. Even gays and lesbians cheat.

So, yes, some married women cheat. Cheating is where one partner sneaks around and lies so the other doesn't know that they're scoring sex on the side. If they are in an open relationship, it's permissible and that ain't cheating. And if it is a swap/swing thing, that gets complicated.

I'm still kind of in a daze from hearing about Alan, aka Dirty Martini. For those who knew him, you will understand why. For those who didn't, well you wouldn't have been able to meet a kinder man.

I'll have me a dirty martini, bill. And a round for the house.

Hi Milik, I was stunned by Alan's passing away also. DirtyMartini has been one of the true iconic members here on Lush and over on StoriesSpace. I also followed him on Facebook where he regularly posted hilarious stuff.

Alan was a guy that is super nice, great sense of humor, a great poet, and cared about helping other people to write and to appreciate poetry. We wrote a 9/11 poem that got national recognition.

And Alan was already one of those iconic type Lush members when I first came along a few years ago. Damn, I sure hate to see him gone. he's going to be missed here and many other places.

I think I'll make a dirty martini in his honor and to his memory.

I just checked Facebook. I am in shock. Alan's passing seems so highly unexpected to me. I do not know what to say hardly. I am deeply saddened.

I can say that the world was a better place with Alan in it. He is surely going to be missed. His poetry was fabulous and meaningful. Alan had a bright outlook and a very caring spirit. He was a very friendly and genuinely good person. He was a longtime active member here on Lush and over on StoriesSpace and had a lot of very good friends.

Alan is going to be missed. He is now a missing piece in our great Lush puzzle.
Being dyslexic, at first I thought this thread was called 'Story Titties - How do YOU do it?' And I had no idea how to respond.

There are always titties in my stories.
Congratulations, Margot! I am very glad you're here. Great people like you make this a great place.
Congratulations to Puddleduck, WannabeWordsmith, and LittleDuchess on First, Second, and Third Place. That's quite an achievement. Outstanding work on those fabulous stories.

And congrats to those who rounded out the Top 10 with Honorable Mentions. Outstanding stories. And this comp even went much deeper than that with outstanding stories. I know deciding that had to be seriously difficult.

This was a great story competition. Thanks to all who entered.

Congratulations, Chris! You've done an outstanding job.

Chris is a real worker and very conscientious about verifying. I am proud to have him on the team.
