Affect vs Effect (or just giving up altogether and using the word 'impact' instead)
Quote by nubilefilmsscriptguy

Lol you guys are funny. What kind of proof do you want? Copies of my NF paychecks? Passwords to access our site for free? Honestly not sure what I can give you that wouldn't compromise my job or at the least get me in trouble with my bosses.

If you guys aren't interested in the job, then fine. I'm not trying to trick or take advantage of anyone. Just thought someone in this community might be willing to help us.

A professional email address would be a start...

$12.50 / hour? Is that even minimum wage in the States? My kid neighbour makes more money delivering papers for the dying media business...
I looked back down at her, still struggling to believe what was happening. She was nodding at me, her eyes wide with fear and lust and excitement. I pulled up, lifting my ass high into the air, and then plunged deep inside with a single stroke. She let out a long, contended moan.

I wouldn't risk it. The image is hot and a little to overtly sexual.

Amazon changes their policies on a whim though. So who knows what's acceptable now.

Thanks wickedjocelyn. A bit of a rookie question in retrospect.

It suddenly occurs to me, is there some point to profile visits besides a feeling of Gee, I'm popular? It's not like you know who they are or why they are there. I've never had anyone reach out about it, but that's probably just a measure of me. Have anyone?

Its a really good point. Do profile views drive story views or do story views drive profile views? I think its the latter, but I've been on this site all of a few months so take that speculation with a grain of salt...
She opened her eyes and a grin crept across her lips as she admired my rock-hard cock. Slowly, her eyes led mine down her body. Her breasts heaved up and down as her breathing grew heavier. Her hand undulated beneath her Levis and the band of her bright yellow panties stuck out.

Thanks to everyone who's read "Time And Temporality" so far. It's had 569 views in the 4 days since it went online, which isn't bad for a story in the rather niche Fantasy/Sci-Fi category.

And thanks especially to those who've left such lovely comments. Too many to quote them all, but these are just a few:

"A superbly written tale" - Meagananne1986
"I always look forward to any new story from you and this certainly didn't disappoint" - PalindromeRedux
"This would have been a great entry in the time travel competition. You've captured the Regency Period of Austen perfectly." - sandy2moon
"The Austen executors would be shocked at such debauchery. Well done, well written and should have been a Comp entry." - Robert0909
"I am very glad you didn't enter this story into the competition, for you would surely have knocked my mine into a cocked hat. You display such affection and respect for JA that your turning her into a teensy bit of a slut just enhances her aura." - GrushaVashnadze

Niche is good! A great read and I recommend to others.
Hi - I've read mixed reports about the types of images Amazon accepts vs rejects for use as book covers on Amazon. Part of the confusion seems to stem from Amazon's changing rules. I saw a post from 2014 saying anything with cleavage or straight arse is relegated to Amazon dungeon (and the book won't show on Amazon's search engine).

Is anyone aware of the latest rules? Does the below suggestive image go to far?

This genre has a very fickle readership I have found and if you are outside of what they want, they let you hear about it. Interestingly, I have not found this to be a real issue here on Lush which is why I primarily post here. I find readers here to be super supportive in the cuck/wife lovers categories in general (there are always exceptions of course).

On the other hand, if you go over to Literotica and post anything in the loving wives category that isn't Impure's definition, you get absolutely destroyed. Trust me I've been there, it's ugly and they 1 star vote your story and a lot of times all your other stories that you've published on that site.

To quote your story "maybe we angered the gods?"

Just my personal experience... -LL

Thanks for the heads up Leftlingula. Definitely don't want to anger any more cuckold gods or their worshipers. ;) Won't make the same mistake on Literotica if I choose to publish there!
Thanks for clarifying everyone. Sounds like the Oxford dictionary needs to add an additional meaning!

I'm not familiar with Bird by Bird. I've seen a few of King's do's and don'ts quoted here and there. And Elmore Leonard's, etc. Strunk and White isn't really about writing, per se, but grammar. It's the most accessible, straight-forward explanation of the basic rules of US English grammar ever written. Most others are terribly convoluted and often contain mistakes, like most online sources.

If you want to read an entire book about writing fiction, the best resource is Writing in General and the Short Story in Particular by Rust Hills. Hills was the fiction editor at Esquire mag from the mid 50s to mid 60s when Updike, Vonnegut, Heller, Cheever...and that whole generation were beginning their careers as short story writers. You could make a living at it then. Hills worked with all of them. He was a bit of a tight-assed snob, but he knew how great fiction goes together. A lot of it hits on The Poetics of Aristotle which is actually an easier read and not as annoying, so that's a good option. There's also a really interesting book called Letters to a Young Fiction Writer, a collection of letters between well-known, established writers and younger writers they mentored at one time or another.

But King's advice to just read as much as you can is the best advice there is. That, and what Izak Dinesen said, "Write a little every day, without hope, without despair."

Thanks Frank. Love the quote.

I wasn't aware of Rust Hills' book, but sounds worth tracking down.
I recently tagged one of my stories in which a stepmother and her son embark on an illicit affair behind the Dad's back, "cuckold". One of the first comments was from an irritated reader who gave it a 2 and explained it wasn't cuckold.

I've always understood the term to mean "a man or woman who has been cheated on by their spouse" (as per Othello), but am starting to realise in porn / erotica it is exclusively used to describe the hotwife genre in which a husband gets aroused from watching his wife screw another man and enjoys the humiliation on a certain level.

Is the latter the correct definition or is it fair to tag a story involving cheating (in which the husband is not happy about it) as "cuckold"?
I like the feminist take on it Wicked Jocelyn. I'd read that story.

@PhilU, I think Campbell's entire point is that every story fits into his generic framework in one way or another. But I'm not convinced by his argument.

Good erotica is about relationships and sex, but the reader needs a story to keep them interested. If they just wanted straight sex, they'd be on Porn Hub along with everyone else.

But nothing quite beats "pussy"
Thanks everyone for your thoughts. Appreciate it.

So, in summary:
- Abigail Thornton (3 votes and her bibliography is indeed prolific)
- Dancing_Doll
- Jaymal
- Saucymh
- JefferyB
- Verbal

I also did a bit of poking around and it looks like RubiRosa69 has been busy with their Samson series. As has burquette. Curvygalore also seems to have made a fair go at it. Any others to have been missed?

@naughtyannie - I deliberately left 'success' open to interpretation, but for me it probably means size and loyalty of followership.

All very inspiring, but certainly not planning to quit my day job...

Huh? You start a forum thread asking who Lush's most successful Amazon Kindle author is, and don't even address that question yourself? Instead just reeling off a plot synopsis of your own story? If a cheap self-marketing trick like this works I'll be fucking astounded.

Hi frightenedrabbit, I only joined Lush a few weeks ago so I genuinely had no idea who the most successful Kindle authors are from this community. I'm also genuinely interested in finding out.

I'm sorry if my forum signature offends you. It is without a doubt, shameless self-promotion. But based on what I've seen in this forum, its appears fairly normal for posters to include some sample work in their signature block so others can click through and have a look if they feel inclined. If I'm in breach of any site rules / etiquette, please let me know and I'll change it.

In any case, in response to your feedback I've since done some research on AMZN published kindle authors from Lush. See my next post. It looks like the site has plenty of successful alumni!

Last, I'm a firm believer that writers need to support one another, rather than trying to tear each other down. The industry is hard enough as it is. If you're struggling and need any help, feel free to PM me. But please do so using your real profile instead of using the bogus one you've posted on.

The flash stuff didn't sell well AT ALL, but the short stories sold well, and the Open trilogy of stories did quite well. Thanks for asking!

Glad to hear it!
