TGIF, a coffee this morning as I am supposed to be working not catching up on my competition story reading. Read 20 or so and they are just excellent, love the takes on the theme.

As for the judging process, this may be a myth but legend says this is the panel convening:

Afternoon all.

Remembrance Day here, and we are a couple of hours passed the traditional two-minute silence at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month marking the time when the WW1 armistice became effective. Unlike ANZAC day in April this isnt a public holiday in Australia.

Now that my competition entry is in (and thanks for the lovely comments from bar regulars) I am slowly making my way through the other entries. Just excellent story telling, I swear the standard is getting higher and higher.

Hope everyone is safe and well, catch you all soon. Coffee for me as I am at work.
I don't normally offer a view on the politics of another country, but this is such a good result for democracy and a 4-5 million vote lead is a strong endorsement that it was time for a change in the USA.

All is good down under, starting to warm up, spring is almost done and the beach is calling. Fortunately so far this warmth hasn't been accompanied by fires, and Covid is very low, under 10 new cases a day for months now. Melbourne is out of lockdown, and the rest of the country seems to have avoided a second wave.

Finally finished my competition story, link below, and I will now start reading the others including the regulars here. Hope everyone keeps safe. A beer for me this Sunday afternoon.

Bumping up other entries is not viable. As stated, it wasn't earned.

The problem is that an author has that right to be forgotten so by keeping their stories around against their express wishes is legal hot water. The Ts and Cs about granting the site usage for 12 months probably won't fly if it was contested against GDPR, for example. Not sure. Don't know any lawyers.

Probably the best option, on deletion, is to reassign any comp title and author to a placeholder user account or stash the metadata in some placeholder table. Then, when rendering the comp lists, if a real entry is missing, look it up in the placeholder table so the name and title can be preserved, with no link to the actual story. Maybe a (story deleted by author) line as explanation.

That also makes it possible to manually add the few entries that have been deleted already to this database table to backfill the existing gaps. We know all winners as they're announced in a forum thread so it shouldn't be too onerous as a one-time exercise.

I do miss some of the stories that have gone, rereading them has and I am sure would continue to make me a better writer.

I so agree that promoting stories is not the answer, it would feel totally unearned for my Rainbows entry to bump up to 4th cos FuzzyBlue left and then onto the podium if Tam and Rach should ever leave.

But by the same token, I personally couldn't delete my account as I couldn't delete my stories, particularly Oxford Street. I don't think of that story as mine anymore; as illustrated by the comments, I now think it belongs to those who read it and were inspired by it. The notion that a story good enough to win the Pride competition can just disappear is not something I am comfortable with. And while I, by entering the competition, granted the site 12 months usage of it as far as I am concerned that lasts as long as Lush lasts.

For me preserving the words is more important then preserving the author's name. As a writer the why were they on the podium is more inspirational than who was on the podium.
The judging panel convenes, witch story will they pick. And who knows a spell for new dentures!!

Evening all, that's Monday done and dusted; and an G&T would go down well.

And then perhaps a or Yes it has been that sort of day.

In better news, spring is well and truly sprung, the football grand finals are done and dusted, and summer is around the corner.

Struggling a bit with this competition story, thought I would sit it out but having done 12 straight I just can't break my streak.

Keep safe and well

I'm still surprised I've got as many profile views as I have, since there are others who've been here longer than me or have a higher "profile" as admin/mods.

I suppose it's a bit of all the things the original poster mentioned. I have written a fair number of stories (though not as many as some), and some of them have had a lot of views (though again not as many as some). I can't comment on the quality, but some have had RRs and ECs (though not always the same ones that have had a lot of views).

I don't spend much time in the chat rooms these days, though I did when I was new here. And I do post fairly regularly in the forums, though mostly in the sexy/funny threads. And sorry, I never spend time on Live Cams!

Other things I do is have a full profile page, which I admit is written in order to titillate as well as inform (that's not to say it isn't true, though). I've got some pictures in both my image gallery and the photo albums, which gives people something to look at.

I also wonder if something as simple as having a good username and avatar pic is helpful. That way someone new who sees one of my forum posts (however vacuous it may be) will be tempted to click on my page link. And that's one more page view straight away...

Roger is right I'm sure that being female helps.

Your profile views? Just Curious me, continually checking out how to be a Naughty Annie.

Mind you, you are going to get to 500,000 well before I get to 50,000; would displaying my bum help?
Only fruit loops desport in a banana hammock. So demode; he'll be spanking the monkey tonight.

I prance my budgie smugglers past kitty barely covered by Wicked Weasel’s skimpy thong. Her nipples firm, but seemingly not for me.

For the schlong packaged in the hammock is more cockatoo than budgie.

Well done to all the authors who entered; as always, there were so many wonderful stories both within and outside the top eleven. Congratulations to my fellow writers in the top eleven, your stories were all fabulous, a tribute to our craft.

So well done susie mags and tam. Congratulations, your stories were so brilliantly done.

Thanks to Nicola and all those who organised and judged this competition. Loved being part of it.
Congratulations Adrian on your 250 story badge, a fabulous achievement. Well done Kimmi for your poem recognizing that success.

Good day, fellow writers and lovers of literary stuff. I'll have a cuppa java if you please.

I wanted to note that one of our sterling authors has left the site. Just yesterday I noticed that Fuzzyblue had finally deleted her account. She had deactivated her account during the past month. She had done it before but we were lucky when she would return. She won first, second, and third place the last couple of years in our Lush competitions. Grand record for sure. It was such a treat to see one of her stories appear.

Now they are all deleted from the site. I hate it when this happens.

Nothing to be done except hope she returns. I simply wanted to express my appreciation for her work and the hope she might return someday as well as other literary lights that have left over the years. This seems the best place to send this notice out to the universe.

I so agree, there are so few of us writers who truly have a unique voice and Fuzzyblue sure had that. One of her stories (and not a competition one) is my all time favourite Lush story and it saddens me that it is gone. Stories are eternal and they should live through the deletion of an author; it is the reason I will never delete my account, I could not bear my writing to disappear.

All is good down under, spring is definitely here, Covid new infections are in single figures and bikinis are unpacked. Hope all is good and please keep safe and well.

White wine for me, 8pm on a Thursday evening is just the right time to celebrate TGIF tomorrow.

To find your total views go to the magnifying glass at the top of the page. Drop the menu and select the Authors. You will find your name alphabetically with all of your views, categories listed, and your average score.

Thanks, I didn't know you could do that. My modest 83,000 views isn't getting me a badge anytime soon, though.

But Mysteria 27 so should be recognised for all those views and stories.
Morning all, please please Mr Barman, make me show my ID, make me believe I look on the other side of thirty. Which does raise the issue of which jurisdictional rules are followed in Rumps, the German sweet sixteen, the Aussie eighteen or the ripe old age of twenty-one.

Anyway lunchtime Saturday is a bit early for alcohol when there are chores to be done. I am declaring it bikini weekend down under; spring is here, gardens are beautiful, the weather in the mid-twenties and tomorrow the beach here I come.

Family issues have kept my Lushing to a minimum, no writing and reading other than the competition stories, so I have heaps to catch up on. Hope all is good with you all and that MsMittens gets safely pushed home in that cart.
Great idea Oli.

Personally the clock is ticking and I am hearing that. Professionally, I am dipping my toe in management, so want to see if that is for me.

I love writing and oddly enough given all the comments above about novels, my goal on Lush was to learn how to write short. I had never written anything under 10,000 words until I joined here. So getting micro and especially flash written is for me an accomplishment.

Another goal is to get more of my friends following Brooke's advice "If you want to write, write! That's my one piece of advice. Don't worry about feedback, just write. Write what you like, what turns you on, what interests you, even what you are curious about. Write, read it, edit it, and when you are happy about it, submit."

The next big writing goal is easy to say, but harder for me to do; to actually finish more stuff. I have over 200,000 words of unpublished stories, some at the final edit stage and more about half to three quarters written. And I have at least 6 stories live at the moment. Thank God for competitions, they have deadlines.

I imagine they have busy schedules, so it would make sense to crank them out one after another.

Laura, you could start with a certain disabled bathroom at Christchurch airport ...

If alternatively I said start with a hooker would most of Lushdom totally get the wrong idea.
Morning all, TGIF, a super busy week. Fortunately spring has sprung and the scent of azaleas are in the air, with the prospect of bikini weather soon.

Haven'd had as much time as I would like to read competition stories but have read some truly excellent ones. Thanks to those who have read mine, I really appreciate the support for my weird little tale. There were a few more entries this morning, so give DeviantSusie and Cat_getsthecream a look, both great stories. I will have to find the time to read a few more, starting with Chris and Vanessa.

Hope every one is safe and well, I will take coffee, it is way too early in the day for a beer.
Evening all, a fine spring day down under.

I have not been around this last month, dealing with a family illness. I have missed so much and hugs to those who have also had things they have had to deal with.

My reading list grows but I have set myself the task of reading the competition entries. Mine is up (link below) and is as unusual a story as I have ever written. Do let me know what you think, I started out to write something humorous and somewhere along the way the narrative arc of the story grew without bound.

I will take a this Friday evening.

Yes me too Kee, glad you are a devotee of what is my favourite Australian bikini brand.

August 28th is Catherine's birthday. Please join me in making her day purrfect by wishing the sweetest pussy in all of Lush a Happy Birthday

Happy birthday my love
Totally fond. You are a sweetheart; you know every Annie has your sort of dirty mind.

Our sister site Stories Space (like Lush but for non-erotic stories and poetry) is holding a new competition for the first time in years!

Details can be found here: Summer Word Bank Story Competition!

First prize is $50.

I know many Lush members also have an account over there, and I'm sure lots of you haven't visited in a while. Some newer members here might not even know about Stories Space.

Either way, if you're looking to flex your writing muscles beyond erotica, this is the perfect opportunity. I hope to read lots of great entries!

N.B. Please remember that Stories Space is not Lush Stories—the same "adult" themes and interactions are not appropriate over there. So reign it in, you pervs.

Thanks for posting this, it is ages since I went to Storiesspace. But I can never resist a competition it seems, so my entry is up. 500 words is an interesting length, just enough I thought; the entries posted so far are all great stories, well worth you all heading over to read.

IMO, this was most definitely not a contest for the adverb prone writing with 'their well-used copy of Strunk & White' within easy reach. Major congrats to all the winners.

Time to imbibe some of the fine coffee Big Bertha and Tonya has created while gutting down a few doughnuts and brownies.

Anybody wanna drink?

Good to see so many Rump's drinkers on the list.

Congratulations to all, another great competition with excellent stories in and outside the top 10.

A would be good this winter's evening.

Hope everyone is safe and well.
