Well done to all the authors who entered, as always, there were so many wonderful stories both within and outside the top ten. Congratulations to my fellow writers in the top ten, your stories were fabulous, a tribute to our craft.

Wow, Tam, Rach and Fuzzy you nailed it. Congratulations, I know what this means to you, your stories were so brilliantly done, love your work.

Thanks to Nicola and all those who organised and judged this competition. Loved being part of it.

Good afternoon Fuzzy.. I'd love a cup of tea too on this horrible grey overcast summer's day.
However all is right with the world as I finally got my competition entry written with a whole day to spare.

It's a bit different from my usual writing.. it's my first attempt at a gay male perspective. I'll include the link in case you fancy reading it
https://www.lushstories.com/stories/gay-male/-born-on-the-12th-of-july-.aspx

I'm slowly making my way through everyone else's entries. There are some fabulous stories there and I see I'm not the only one with a last minute entry (waves at CuriousAnnie on the other side of the world)

I'll be back for a beer later smile

I know I know, left mine late too. Thanks for all who have read my competition story and I would recommend Susie's. And a number of others too, slowly working my way through them and have enjoyed so many so far.

Loving the summer pics, cheers up my winter. The main reason for my late entry (and not dropping in here) was that I took a holiday in Northern NSW as we arent allowed into Queensland (the usual winter destination given its warmth.) Nice to see places I hadnt seen before and to get out walking both on the coast and in the mountains (hills by most countries standards.)

Things are slowly opening in Australia, in NSW we have had no community transmission in a while (our cases are returning from overseas and in Quarantine) but then a second wave broke out in Melbourne last week (the transmission was the security guards at the hotels where returning travellers were being quarantined) and the state of Victoria is back in lock down. The links between Victoria and NSW have been closed for the first time in 100 years, with NSW police assisted by the army patrolling the 55 road links between the two states. All the Victorian sports teams have left and will not be back there for at least six weeks but the competitions will proceed as the other states are virtually virus free.

It being lunch time I shall avoid the beer. Perhaps coffee and some shortbread. Take care everyone.
Morning all, Saturday continues the fine pleasant winter we are enjoying, though the morning are cold, perhaps not Ireland cold but under 10 degrees C seems cold to me.

We are opening up on a state by state basis, here in New South Wales there has not been a community Covid infection in 8 days, the handful of cases are all returning people from overseas who are in compulsory 14 quarantine in hotels. This is a long weekend and people are travelling for the first time in ages, a lot of us had Christmas disturbed by fires, Easter by Covid and there is a sense of relief about getting out of Sydney even though one must remain in NSW.

The State government won an urgent case in the Supreme Court yesterday banning a Black Lives Matter march on public health grounds as the organisers wouldnt guarantee social distancing and a 500 person limit. There is talk of it still going ahead.

I have written a couple of stories, flash ones rather than micro. Tried a couple of different things for me, Role Model is more dialogue driven and Dissolute more well just plain grubby I guess. If you read them do tell me if they do or don't work for you.

I dont envy Nicola reading all the microcompetition stories it seems like not a lot of words but the consideration involved with each one makes that such a long process. Do read Susie's story, it is excellent, and I will definitely check out yours Verbal, six years for a RR shows that patience is indeed a virtue.

Hope all is good where ever you are. Particularly I hope you are okay Vanessa. I will take a coffee this lunchtime.
Evening all, Tuesday done and dusted. Oh we know it is winter now, hit 9 C today. I know that isn't cold for some of you, but that is so cool for Sydney. The second day of restrictions being lifted went well, restaurants and churches etc. are open to 50 people. Infection rate is low and hospitals like mine have yet to be stressed. Travel is opening up, but not out of state, so we will take a couple of weeks vacation inside NSW.

At least this has given me time to write, one micro and flash done since the micro competition and another flash on the way.

Hope you are all safe and well. Our news is dominated by the US now (Dominic Cummings and anything domestic has been overshadowed.) Take care my friends.

Love the foal Fuzzy. Sorry to hear about your daughter's co-worker, Kat.

Well to end the day I will have a G&T
Must be an Annie thing, I managed to do it to Tam's excellent Winter competition story (a four not a one though) and was so embarrassed when I couldnt change the score. Profuse apologies were gracefully accepted, but it is a bug that could helpfully be fixed.

It cant only be Annies who have slippery fingers when reading stories smile
Evening all, the chill of winter is encroaching, mind you by some standards it isn’t cold at all, we are between 14-21C, but the leafs have turned orange and are falling. Thank goodness I have micro to keep me warm, read most of the competition stories about 15 still to go. Really enjoying the different takes on the pic. Thanks to those of you who have read mine, I like what I have written, picking up two key bits of Australian history and in particular the link between Gallipoli and the annual commemoration of ANZAC day whose most symbolic image is the poppy. But I get that may not be every ones cup of tea for an erotic story.

I have written a new flash called Role Model, have a look I am sure you will like it. I may be getting used to writing short as this was the first story of mine that didn’t run over the word limit and require editing. Hope you are safe and well, we are coming out of lockdown, professional sports restarted tonight. Rugby League with AFL to resume soon. Odd to see it played in empty stadiums.

you want the naked dance or the semi naked dance?

We are artistic, we writers; so your interpretation of Salome's "seven veils"dance, thank you. Oscar Wilde's play version, which some think is the origin of striptease should give you the idea of how au naturel we expect.

Yeah, I'm definitely on a Google watch list somewhere.

Some of my recent research included where Australia's poppy industry is located, countless definitions and synonyms, shades of pink, the psychology of hotwifing, balance beam routines, San Francisco high school sporting uniforms, Chupa Chup wrappers, the Gin Palace decor in Melbourne, the toiletries at The Westin, claw-foot baths, genocide in Rwanda, The Casbah in Algiers, the Opium Wars, Australia's nursing commitment during the First World War, prostitution in the late eighteen hundreds, and California condom laws in the porn industry.

That and a shitload of Halsey videos on Youtube. But that's just for me...

Omg this is so me. Not this exact list though the marble bar in Sydney was googled. As was a meteor crater in Western Australia, and the airline timetable to Halls Creek and the state of the unsealed road. Offshore researched Alexandria about the time of Christ and Chaucer's England. Most research I have ever done was for my horror story The End Begins, where amongst other things I got the iconography of the fallen angels from google. My gold mine was discovering eco-sexual on google and a whole story idea and language (Zucchini and the Art of Environmental Maintenance) came from that random google search.
Well done and thanks for those times you have battled with my stories

Unlike Nicola I dont have a single Swiss joke.
A cool Tuesday evening here, despite some middle of the day warmth in the sun, summer is a memory and winter is closing in. Hope all is safe where ever you, for us it the slow process of coming out of lock down having so far avoided major infection issues. Schools back Monday and restaurants can have 10 people in them. Intra-state travel allowed from 1 June. Work is not back to normal mainly as it is not clear how transport systems can be managed, the idea is to sharply reduce the number travelling into Sydney on trains buses and ferries. Ironic, as public policy has spent years trying to get people out of cars and into public transport.

These competitions are a lot of fun. Congrats to Hannah, Mags and Luca on the podium placements and to all the Rump writers, such a great collection of stories.

The microfiction comp looks just as good, thanks to those who have read mine.

Evening beer here please, Rumps
Congratulations to all the authors who entered, just fabulous to see so many both newer and more established writers. There were, are there always are, so many brilliant stories both inside and outside the top 10.

Thanks to Nicola and the organising and judging team, you, as always, do a fabulous job. This was a totally fun competition and I loved being part of it. A personal vote of thanks to those that commented so warmly on my story. I was thrilled with your feedback.

Congratulations to those who made top 10, all seriously good stories. Special congrats to Hannah, Mags and Luca for topping the winning podium, I loved all three of your stories.

Sounds delish.

Now what alcoholic drink would best represent, a NaughtyAnnie?

There is sweetness to the lady, but she bites. And she doesn’t sneak up on you, you know what you’re immediately getting. So something that’s bold, hitting you right between the eyes. Strong, sweet, and delicious.

Barkeep, any suggestions. Oh yes. And just thinking of the drink must make one hard or wet.

Well let me let you into the secret world of Annies. Occasionally Sex with an Alligator which is as follows:

Sours
Melon Liqueur
0.5 oz Raspberry Liqueur
0.5 oz Herbal Liqueur
Add sweet and sour to shakers with, shake and strain.
Layer in raspberry liquor and jager. Raspberry should go to the bottom and jager should float on top.
Works best in Martini glass, Rump.

After that we usually can manage a Slow Comfortable Screw which is as follows:

1 oz Vodka
1 oz Peach Liqueur
1 oz Sloe Gin
5 oz Orange Juice
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice, shake, and strain into a cocktail glass or add all ingredients to a cocktail glass with ice and stir

Or alternatively having sprite.

Of course I am only curious it is the other one that is naughty.

Anyway back to writing, I have fallen way behind on micros and must catch up. Have just submitted a competition story, which, given that the symbolism of the poppy is so ingrained with ANZAC, Gallipoli and subsequent wars, has the unsexy (but my micro does contain lashings of sex) title of The Sorrow of War. I would as always appreciate your reading and commenting and I will certainly get on with working my way through the competition list.

Keep safe everyone.

But seriously folks, I don't know nuttin' about the new Micro category, except I've been in favor of having one for some time now. If there were any announcements I've missed them completely. My befuddlement includes, but is not limited to: 1. Why now while a contest is still open and 2. why 'require' a photo be included with a submission?

eta: The contest appears to have closed with 109 entries.

I hadnt seen anything until an email dropped from Stormdog about his microstory. But the moment I saw that I couldnt resist. What a great category, sharpens your writing, done in thirty minutes (finding the picture was extra time) and modded in fifteen minutes. There are already a couple of handfuls of stories and they are an easy and interesting read.

Congratulations to all those who entered the competition and bigger congratulations to those who read most of the entries. Some good stories havent got ten votes I see; and I confess that I have only read about 70 stories. But I am super impresed by the standard and wish the judges every sucess.

Take care and be safe. Winter is beginning to show her hand down under, the evenings are getting cool.

It's a good question, but ultimately I'll have to say, "Still too early to call."

Somewhat to my surprise (I'm not a fan of our Prime Minister, or our state Premier), Australia has done remarkably well at going from confirmed cases increasing at a similar rate to Italy or the US to having fewer than 20 new cases per day for almost two weeks now. Some of that was that probably that our confirmed cases were closer to the actual number of cases in the country than for either Italy or the US, some was the natural advantage of being an island, and some was Aussies being very aware of what had happened in China and Italy leading people mostly pushing the PM to go harder on lockdowns rather than rioting on the street about the idea. And some may have been pure luck.

So I'd say a solid B+ so far. Some marks off for mixed messages, a massive cock-up in letting people wander off a cruise ship before tests came back on a number of staff and passengers (several were positive), and a large cluster at an aged care facility which hasn't been handled well... I do realize that much of the rest of the world would wish that they were the biggest problems...

BUT... this things got a long time to play out yet. A vaccine is at least several months away, people are trying to figure out how to ease restrictions and the virus is still out there. Oh, and winter is coming (that's a nice, ominous line... I wonder if anyone's used it before??) Obviously, this virus can be transmitted in hot weather, and no one really knows yet if it's more easily spread in winter, but it's definitely a possibility.

I rarely comment on this Phil, but as a health worker in NSW, my sense is that we are fortunate. There are two important things, good public policy that lowers the rate of infection and a heath system that is built up so it responds more effectively. And I think in both cases the Australian governments (extra points to the PM for getting a national cabinet to work) have been impressive by international standards, the death rate per million people is still incredibly low. I get that NZ has done a bit better but their lockdown was more intensive. And that cruise ship was a really bad, but in the broad scheme of things we have avoided stressing the health system and that is an absolute sucess.

But the big issue is how we get out of this without surging in cases and how we analyse issues which reasonable people can disagree with, like when should schools open. Like you I am not a great fan of the PM (though I actually like Gladys) but I give him a lot of credit for what has happened here.
Afternoon all, a fine but cool day down under. This week the temperature has dropped and summer had headed north for a while. We have started to move out of lockdown in small steps as the infection rate has fallen. I so could use a drink, starting with a G&T.

I have been super busy with work and not around lush as much as I would like. But when I am online I have been reading competition stories. Done all the recent ones this morning and made sure to read all those who have read mine. Despite that I have ‘only’ read 70 or so and fear I am not going to get them all done. And I am completely blown away by the quality; great writing and innovative plot lines.

Thanks to all of you who have commented on mine, I have been really thrilled by the generous comments. Take care and stay safe.

The way some of the questions are phrased can lead you to give an answer that is not a true reflection of your actual stance.

I agree and despite that I had to try and here was where I ended up:

Evening all! Just in for my evening pint. I noticed that the guys who were talking about their newly posted stories we're too modest to add links, so here they are.

Here's Annie's excellent comp story.

https://www.lushstories.com/stories/masturbation/-alice-.aspx

Martin's wonderful En France chapter.

https://www.lushstories.com/stories/true/-en-france-sur-la-plage-.aspx

Kat's latest Office Whore chapter. An absolute corker!

https://www.lushstories.com/stories/office-sex/-the-office-whore-part-34-.aspx

And a non-Rumplator comp entry by the excellent El_Henke that is well worth a read.

https://www.lushstories.com/stories/masturbation/-sweet-release-.aspx

That was thirsty work!

Thanks for the call out for my competition story which has had a fabulous reception in the 24 hours it has been up. Your next pint is on me Curvy. I really appreciate the support from those of you who have read it.

I don't know about you, but there are so many excellent stories being published both with the competitions and outside them that I am struggling to keep up with my reading. But I am prioritising the competition stories. I always try and often manage to read them all, but I didn't last time and am determined to do so this time.

Take care everyone, I know of a couple of Lushies who are ill with Covid so look after yourself and your loved ones. It is Saturday here, warm and just gone three in the afternoon so I will take a beer.

3. we need more tentacle stories. in fact, it's going to be a requirement that writers send in at least one before the end of the year or their accounts will be suspended for a period of 1 month. don't be that writer. send more tentacle porn!

Sprite/Rachel

My apologies for seeking this clarification at Easter.

But I take it that a story (The End Begins to be precise) that involves Annie being more than a little Curious and, on Halloween, having tentacle sex with the devil, setting a high water mark for humanity's orgasmic ecstasy, getting pregnant with the Anti-Christ and leaving that sex scene in the company of the Four Horsemen (well women actually) of the Apocalypse thereby signalling the end of the world meets my tentacle sex story obligations ... for eternity.

God knows I would be such a naughty girl if I could cum up with a annual tentacle sex plot. And there can only be one NaughtyAnnie on Lush.

Annie (not naughty just curious.)
Good morning or evening depending on where you are in the world.

Wet and a little cooler here as the summer has not lingered this year. The lockdown has meant one of the busiest travel days of the year passed quietly.

Obviously work has been busy, but I have found some time to write. A joint story with PalindromeRedux called Love in the Time of Coronavirus which despite the title (a homage to Gabriel García Márquez) is a humorous look at an American movie buff's vacation in the Australian outback.

And my competition story Alice has just been published. Please take a look at both.

I am amazed and delighted to see so many competition entries and I will work my way though them all, starting with the Bar flies.

Oh I should point out that funnily enough it turns out there is a bar called Rumps in the Australia outback. If that isnt sufficient reason to read Hannah and my story I dont know what is.
