Well done to all the authors who entered, as always, there were so many wonderful stories both within and outside the top ten. Congratulations to my fellow writers in the top ten, your stories were fabulous, a tribute to our craft.
Wow, Tam, Rach and Fuzzy you nailed it. Congratulations, I know what this means to you, your stories were so brilliantly done, love your work.
Thanks to Nicola and all those who organised and judged this competition. Loved being part of it.
Morning all, Saturday continues the fine pleasant winter we are enjoying, though the morning are cold, perhaps not Ireland cold but under 10 degrees C seems cold to me.
We are opening up on a state by state basis, here in New South Wales there has not been a community Covid infection in 8 days, the handful of cases are all returning people from overseas who are in compulsory 14 quarantine in hotels. This is a long weekend and people are travelling for the first time in ages, a lot of us had Christmas disturbed by fires, Easter by Covid and there is a sense of relief about getting out of Sydney even though one must remain in NSW.
The State government won an urgent case in the Supreme Court yesterday banning a Black Lives Matter march on public health grounds as the organisers wouldnt guarantee social distancing and a 500 person limit. There is talk of it still going ahead.
I have written a couple of stories, flash ones rather than micro. Tried a couple of different things for me, Role Model is more dialogue driven and Dissolute more well just plain grubby I guess. If you read them do tell me if they do or don't work for you.
I dont envy Nicola reading all the microcompetition stories it seems like not a lot of words but the consideration involved with each one makes that such a long process. Do read Susie's story, it is excellent, and I will definitely check out yours Verbal, six years for a RR shows that patience is indeed a virtue.
Hope all is good where ever you are. Particularly I hope you are okay Vanessa. I will take a coffee this lunchtime.
Evening all, Tuesday done and dusted. Oh we know it is winter now, hit 9 C today. I know that isn't cold for some of you, but that is so cool for Sydney. The second day of restrictions being lifted went well, restaurants and churches etc. are open to 50 people. Infection rate is low and hospitals like mine have yet to be stressed. Travel is opening up, but not out of state, so we will take a couple of weeks vacation inside NSW.
At least this has given me time to write, one micro and flash done since the micro competition and another flash on the way.
Hope you are all safe and well. Our news is dominated by the US now (Dominic Cummings and anything domestic has been overshadowed.) Take care my friends.
Love the foal Fuzzy. Sorry to hear about your daughter's co-worker, Kat.
Well to end the day I will have a G&T
Evening all, the chill of winter is encroaching, mind you by some standards it isn’t cold at all, we are between 14-21C, but the leafs have turned orange and are falling. Thank goodness I have micro to keep me warm, read most of the competition stories about 15 still to go. Really enjoying the different takes on the pic. Thanks to those of you who have read mine, I like what I have written, picking up two key bits of Australian history and in particular the link between Gallipoli and the annual commemoration of ANZAC day whose most symbolic image is the poppy. But I get that may not be every ones cup of tea for an erotic story.
I have written a new flash called Role Model, have a look I am sure you will like it. I may be getting used to writing short as this was the first story of mine that didn’t run over the word limit and require editing. Hope you are safe and well, we are coming out of lockdown, professional sports restarted tonight. Rugby League with AFL to resume soon. Odd to see it played in empty stadiums.
Fond of of course, one day I aspire to be a naughty Annie.
Congratulations to all the authors who entered, just fabulous to see so many both newer and more established writers. There were, are there always are, so many brilliant stories both inside and outside the top 10.
Thanks to Nicola and the organising and judging team, you, as always, do a fabulous job. This was a totally fun competition and I loved being part of it. A personal vote of thanks to those that commented so warmly on my story. I was thrilled with your feedback.
Congratulations to those who made top 10, all seriously good stories. Special congrats to Hannah, Mags and Luca for topping the winning podium, I loved all three of your stories.
Afternoon all, a fine but cool day down under. This week the temperature has dropped and summer had headed north for a while. We have started to move out of lockdown in small steps as the infection rate has fallen. I so could use a drink, starting with a G&T.
I have been super busy with work and not around lush as much as I would like. But when I am online I have been reading competition stories. Done all the recent ones this morning and made sure to read all those who have read mine. Despite that I have ‘only’ read 70 or so and fear I am not going to get them all done. And I am completely blown away by the quality; great writing and innovative plot lines.
Thanks to all of you who have commented on mine, I have been really thrilled by the generous comments. Take care and stay safe.
Naughty ...
.. not Curious
Good morning or evening depending on where you are in the world.
Wet and a little cooler here as the summer has not lingered this year. The lockdown has meant one of the busiest travel days of the year passed quietly.
Obviously work has been busy, but I have found some time to write. A joint story with PalindromeRedux called Love in the Time of Coronavirus which despite the title (a homage to Gabriel García Márquez) is a humorous look at an American movie buff's vacation in the Australian outback.
And my competition story Alice has just been published. Please take a look at both.
I am amazed and delighted to see so many competition entries and I will work my way though them all, starting with the Bar flies.
Oh I should point out that funnily enough it turns out there is a bar called Rumps in the Australia outback. If that isnt sufficient reason to read Hannah and my story I dont know what is.
