I think the pushback against my statement is an overreaction. Why is it so important to use blanket statements against 'the Chinese'. And since it still hasn't been acknowledged, the Epoch Times is not owned or affiliated with China in any way, but an ousted group of religious extremists banned from China. It's a large multinational organization that pushes hate speech, misogyny and anti-LGBTQ agendas. They are not allowed to operate in or out of China, and most members are not Chinese anymore.

This statement feels incredibly unfounded given my understanding of the circumstances. I’m also a minority, many times over.

I truly do not understand the harm in saying “Look at these conservatives using a Chinese news site that promotes right wing propaganda to show how ‘the Chinese’ are taking over Hollywood.” The hatred that’s being discussed was in the hatred spewed by Kevin Sorbo’s post, not in Jack’s mockery of said post.

It does justice to no one to jump to conclusions and make the wrong person the enemy. There’s been more effort in painting Jack as a racist than actual advocacy to stop Asian hate. In fact, this is the first I’ve seen of the conversation about Asian hate in this space in a while…possibly ever.

I know Jack would stoop to many lows to fuck with people, but racism isn’t one of them. And that’s not a brushstroke you wanna go painting people with lightly. That’s really fucked up.

I agree Jack’s an asshole, and he baits people all the time, as does just about anyone who posts in the Think Tank. If there’s baiting in relation to Jack posting a glorified Chinese tabloid posting far right propaganda, I honestly don’t see it.

Here’s my understanding of Jack’s post: Conservatives complaining about “the Chinese” running Hollywood, and using a Chinese tabloid that promotes right wing propaganda as proof of said running of Hollywood, which is stupid on the part of conservatives.

Rowan’s response was to assume that Jack was engaging in the bashing and therefore persecution of Asians, which I interpreted as an overreaction.

Is there some context I’m missing? I’m happy to be incorrect. Well, happy is a strong word, but I’d be fine if I’m wrong.
