Good Evening Lushketeers...hey Chef, liking that new avatar pic btw...that other one was getting me dizzy every time I looked at it...I know it don't take much, but still...

And I see Sharon has big plans for the New Year...novels and guest spots...I just hope to see the New Year, and I'll be a happy camper...

Mr. Rumple...oh great keeper of the bar...have any of that there Sams Club VSOP brandy left? I'll take a tall glass, or two this way...might as well see the New Year in with somewhat of a buzz on...can't hurt I always say...

Cheers,
Alan.

I would love to borrow that one Shibui...they were so darn pretty...and the '67 Mark III's had real windows...

I have to say, looking over this list, Lushkins have had some interesting cars...

Though, some bring back some memories which aren't all good...I knew someone who had a Healey as well...the exhaust ran under the rear axle, and scraped everything in the road...

Then, of course, there were Lucas fuel pumps which ticked in the morning...when they felt like it...

And SU carburetors, which looked so damn pretty under the hood...but never stayed in tune...

Ah yes...the good old days...

67 GTO convertible
Used to call it "The Beast"
Had a 421 tri-power that sounded like a Harley at a stop light, and it would pass anything but a gas station
Paid $700 for it in '71 and sold it for $18k in '96

Damn, some of these pictures bring back memories...my best friend in grammar school, had an older brother who had a 67 Goat just like that, except the interior was black, and I believe it was a 389...

Had a Hurst T-shifter and a reverb unit hanging under the dash with the colored lights that pulsed in time to the music...very sixties, but anyway...when the weather was bad, my friend's mom would borrow it and drive us to school in it...

This was third grade, 1969/70...seemed so cool at the time rumbling up to school and getting dropped off in that thing, even if his mom drove it...actually, probably still would come to think of it...

But, I still have a fondness of 67 Goats...even though I never actually owned one...

I'll come back to this thread...I'll try to dig up a picture of my first car, and will have to scan it and all that stuff...classy, but not as much fun perhaps...
The Temptations, complete with intro by Paul Revere and The Raiders...
Hey Rump...I think the world ending and the presidential election are scheduled right around the same time, but I'm sure that's just a coincidence...

Nice to see you Sharon...though I think I may have just saw you outside somewhere...just saying...
Good Evening my Lushketeer friends...damn, is that Miss Top This drinking in the bar? Must have been a rough year, if I do say so...actually, surprised more people aren't here drinking as of late, but that's another story...

Ah yes...we have a brand new year coming up, indeed something to look forward to...

Btw, isn't the world supposed to end next year? That minor detail could put a damper on festivities, in my most humble opinion...

Any Old Overshoe left? I know the Crown Royal is just a faded memory by now...with any luck, there might be something else of a certain level of drinkability remaining...and don't go bringing out that box of kosher wine again Rev...

Cheers,
Alan.
Sort of bumping this one...don't have a nice bump gif like Nicola, so I'll just say "Bump"...

There's been someone soliciting LS/SS members again...I personally don't really have an issue, but just a friendly reminder...if any publisher comes looking for you...no matter how good you think you are...it's probably too good to be true...just saying...

Welcome to Lush Michael...one of the features of this fine site is a "forum search" function which allows you to discover if a topic has been touched on before...and chances are, in the last five years, it has...

Stories: Do you like a complete story in one read or a story that continues?

Multi Chapters - Maintaining the Edge
http://www.lushstories.com/forum/yaf_postst20237_Multi-Chapters--Maintaining-the-Edge.aspx

That should get you started...I'm sure there's a lot more...
Oh damn...apparently somebody just posted this one on YouTube...very seasonal I might add...

Brings back memories...I saw Johnny Mathis with my mother back in the 70's...The Pointer Sisters were the opening act...my mother was a big JM fan...if I had a dollar for every time I heard "Johnny Mathis Greatest Hits" growing up...um, let's say I'd have a lot of money...

Good Evening My Drunken Lushketeer Friends...and if you're not drunk yet, what the heck is stopping you?

That was indeed an inspiring sermon on this most blessed of holidays...one would expect nothing less, of course, from the Most Right Rumpledness...except maybe to expect him to keep the darn jugs of communion wine filled...I hate to keep reminding you Rev, but um...

Anyway...I have to say I love the way you decorated the place for Christmas...heck, wrapping those Christmas lights around Coma's neck seems to be keeping him in an upright position, relatively...and that tinsel draped over Tose's head is a classy touch I must say...

I do wish you all the best this Holiday Season, and in the coming New Year...I got a nice gift, well I think...a genuine review of "Klutzin' Around The Christmas Tree"...

Alright...a review! "the heartwarming story of a boy’s best friend lost"...hmmm, I wonder what story that could be? "The book is a gem written by a group of talented authors and published by Dancing With Bear Publishing."...Now, I can agree with that...

At times I almost feel like a real writer...I'm going to have to start drinking like one, and now seems as good a time as any...

Pass me over a couple of Dirty Martinis...with a quart of bourbon chaser...that sounds like a start...

After all, it is Christmas...

Cheers,
Alan.
Btw, just a note...I know there's a lot of discussion lately about this sort of thing...it always seems to go hand in hand with discussions about stolen stories, all of a sudden there is an increased interest in copyright...

Just to make clear...having something copyrighted in no way guarantees someone is not going to come along and steal it...and technically, something is copyrighted these days as soon as it is "fixed"...

I thought the Library of Congress site really explains that best...if you go through the eleven pages...

The Library of Congress - Copyright
http://www.copyright.gov/

What you are doing when you pay the $35 is you are "registering" the copyright...which can make it easier to prove violation up the road...

And do not under any circumstances assume that because you have your copyright register

ed, that it will in any way make it worthwhile to pursue a violation up the road...it still represents a significant out of pocket cost to you in most cases...

Try to get a realistic view of copyright, and whether it is in fact for you...

There are articles that afford a quick overview of the subject...

10 Big Myths about copyright explained
http://www.templetons.com/brad/copymyths.html

Top 10 copyright myths

Good luck with that, btw...and Happy Holidays...
A bit "old school"...I know, I know...

Percy Sledge - When A Man Loves A Woman

Merry Christmas Nic and the Lushketeers...

Btw, do you know what the wives of the eight tiny reindeer do while their husbands are out pulling Santa's sleigh?

They go out to the Elks Club and blow a few bucks...

Anway...Merry Christmas...

Cheers,
Alan.

"Helicopter" once is fine, but chopper, eggbeater, whirlybird? Somehow using them in the same line, paragraph or even story just sounds wrong.

But then I am still trying to figure out Capitonym. Do I drink Scotch or scotch?

Somehow I think that if you feel the need to use "helicopter" more than once in a line you may want to re-think your story...

I had to look up "Capitonym" btw...and you drink scotch...Scotch is a brand of tape...

I use the thesaurus a lot. I was taught not to use the same word twice in a sentence. That also goes for paragraphs, although you get more leeway there of course.

Thesauruses are cool...I happen to like this one, because it's a whole bunch of stuff in one...check out the drop down list...
http://www.rhymezone.com/

And yeah, I try not to use the same word too often...if I think about it...

It was her work computer too, I think.SQDLqGhXVCXAPCHv

That's no reason why she can't have Lush set as her home page...jeez, picky aren't we?

I do a search for "ginger" and "anal" and take it from there.

I wonder whose stories come up when you do that? Lol...

Btw, I thought for sure by now you would have read every story on Lush at least twice...I'm really surprised if that's not the case...

One that has not logged in for 3 months is abygaleturner69. I really enjoyed her stories and she always left great comments on mine. Her page is still there but who knows.

Let me say, be glad her page is still there...that's always a good sign...

Funny, I just noticed one of my first friends here actually just logged back on today after about 22 months, I would guess...

I realize people come and go for different reasons here, and sometimes it just suits them and it has nothing whatsoever to do with you...but, like I said...be glad her page is still there...that's a plus, let me tell you...
Good Evening Lushketeers...damn, all these stories about giants, corn dogs, southern Ohio hillbillies, Busty's so-called coffee and carnal romping...I think that last one's definitely the best of Cthe bunch, and yeah Sharon cayenne pepper is always good in tea...you might want to throw a couple of tablespoons in Busty's coffee next time you order it just to kill the taste, never mind fighting off a cold...

And yeah, I'm finally getting over a cold I've had for a good week or so...hate them things, though I have to admit it's the first one I've had in a while, probably since before I joined this fine site...

They say lots of liquids are good for colds...heck, lots of liquids are good for anything me thinks...let me get a couple of martinis while I'm here...

I'll pay ya' back later Rump...scouts honor...

Just don't ask me if I was ever a scout...
Cheers,
Alan.
I don't see anything when I click the "Online" tab...

I think maybe somebody stole my messages already...

the friend's birthday thing is still wonky.

a) on my page ... friend's list ... shows my friend's b-day is Dec 13
b) on my friend's page, Lush says happy b-day to him on Dec 11
c) on the Birthdays at the bottom of the Forum page .... it shows his b-day as Dec 12

Sounds like a long and painful birth if it took three days...

I feel sorry for the mother actually...just saying...
Good Afternoon Lushkins...damn Chef, where you live where people wear glitter clothes? Must be close to the local Walmart...just saying...

Let me grab a quick drink while I'm here...how about a couple of Dirty Martinis, like maybe four...

I'll be back a bit later...sorry I haven't been around much, had a bad cold for about a week and it's been interfering with my ability to think...

Alright, alright...at least I have an excuse for the past week...be back later...
Cheers,
Alan.
Thanks Lush...and who? Oh yeah, that DirtyMartini guy is actually useful once in a while...but don't expect too many people to believe you...

And glad you found some encouragement there SD83, if you keep submitting stuff it might pay off someday...I started submitting stuff to paying gigs September 7, 2010 and almost exactly 14 months later I got a contract with a traditional print publisher and have a story of mine published recently in a Christmas anthology on Dancing With Bear Publishing...

Here's the link btw...it's the book on the upper left, btw...
http://www.dancingwithbearpublishing.com/bookshelf.htm

So, all I can say, is it takes a bit of patience and tenacity...and some day you might get lucky...

And getting lucky is always good...in writing and other things...

Yeah...I think "wonky" might be an appropriate term here...

I happen to know my friend Mark has got some mad skills, and was a huge influence on me in my early days attempting this writing thing and all...but, still not sure if that qualifies him to get three birthday cakes...

Nope...go right ahead Miss Shameless Self-Promoting Mistress of Words...

In fact, if I had more time, I would actually be interested in watching some of your videos...mention it again in about a month or so, either here or Facebook...I should have some time in a month or so...then again, I'd like to actually do some writing again...um...hmmm...

Never mind...
