Thanks, Grace. Yes, my one memory of Alan Price is the Dancing Bear song. Now I will be checking his stuff out. I was very impressed with the footage you linked to.

Georgie Fame is another name that had slipped off the edge of my world. But I was just a lad when these guys had their moment in the sun, while you would have been a teenager.

I had blissfully forgotten "Simon Smith and His Amazing Dancing Bear". The worst of a bad bunch.

Wow, Grace. This is really rather good. Thanks for posting it. Time for a reassessment of Alan Price.

A couple of points.

Alan Price was one of the original Animals and is a very fine jazz etc. keyboardist, but he and his friend Georgie Fame released some lacklustre pop songs which may have put you off. Fame is worth a look-see too. He played extensively with Van Morrison and Mose Allison amongst others.

I mix up Alan Price and Brian Auger because Auger also works with Eric Burden. Check him out, too.

One of the few covers of this song that get it somewhat right. Most covers completely misfire IMHO.

The original recording of "I Put a Spell on You" is not the one we know and love. It is more like the covers, before Mr Hawkins became "Screamin' Jay".

This cover of Donovan's "Season of the Witch" might tickle your fancy.

A concert by one of the finest covers bands ever. Everything Vanilla Fudge did was uniquely Vanilla Fudge.

"Hey Julia" is an original composition, but "Sailin' Shoes" is by Lowell George and "Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley" is by Allen Toussaint.

Ah, yes, the "well-meaning" assholes.

I was married ad 16, widowed at 18. I am 69 and it still hurts. Remembering how much we loved each other and our children helps, but it still hurts.

Excuse me while I have a little cry.
I still maintain it should, in my case at least, be called fat dipping. I'm in.
