Love the Technocolor. Love the feel. Love the sarcasm. But I got caught with the message. Did not suspect or expect one. I totally missed the clue. Love that because it made me go whoa.

Humphrey Bogart is my favourite old-timey make actor and I remember Fred McMurray from My Three Sons reruns and a variety of old a Disney flicks. But I’ve now seen him in this and Double Indemnity and I don’t like him in these none-Vanilla roles. Not that he isn’t good in them - apparently he was excellent in The Apartment - but McMurray fans don’t like him in these alternative roles. Neither did he. After an old lady smacked him with her purse after seeing him in The Apartment, he told his wife he’d no longer do darker roles. The man had range, but he was better when loveable.

Glad I finally saw this. If you ever served or were part of a tight-knit team, this movie might stick with you as it has with me. It might anyway even if you haven’t.
