For me I start off with a loose story concept, I then go to Pinterest for visual ideas. I do base my toons extremely loosely at the beginning on people I have known in the past. Then I treat the story I am writing as an RPG. What would John say or do in this situation? What would Sarah say and feel in this situation? I'll gladly admit that I may sit down to tell one story, but because the characters are talking in such a way in my head that the story goes another way. For me the fun part is seeing how a character has changed from the beginning of a story and seeing how they are at the end, especially if you are using the same characters in multiple stories.
My advice, just listen to your characters, they will tell you what to write.

No my wife doesn't know. She see's me writing, but she thinks I am writing a fictionalized tale of my youth. Granted that is what I started doing then I got the idea for my current series that I have been writing the past month or so, and I am not sure how she would take it even though we have been married almost 16 years. My writing is an outlet for some of my thoughts and fantasies, as twisted as they may be to some.
For me in my stories, the secondary characters are either based on some ideal or on people I know or used to know. I change a lot of the details, but try to stay true to who they were, while making new characters.

My wife is my one absolute best freind who knows me better than I know myself. I also have a very close freind who I used to teach with that I consider my best freind. I can talk to him about my wife and various frustrations, and he to me about his family. I then have several close friends as well.
For me it is about trust, and how much of my true self I can reveal. I trust my wife 98%. I trust my best freind 95%, and my close friends 85% I know I am a strange bird.

I have been a fan of this site for a few years, and always enjoyed reading the stories. I always found Lush a safe place to allow all of my inner demons come out and play for a few hours of fun reading. Around New Years I thought I should try writing. I am enjoying the art of writing a story, and seeing how the characters change over time. I enjoy doing chapter type stories. I am hoping that Lush besides being a playground for my many fantasies, it will be a place for me to improve my writing.
I am a huge fan of the late folk singer Harry Chapin. To me as long as people are listening to Harry's music, he still lives, thus Harrylives. Sex is referenced in a lot of his songs, so felt it was appropriate.
I will agree with several other people that have posted, it is all about the characters. I want a good story, first and maybe some sex second. I think that for some trying to find the right balance is an issue. I know for me it is. Granted I am new to all of this. I personally like multiple chapter stories, so you get to see how the characters have grown and evolved, or devolved.

Howdy All! I was wondering if there is someone that would be brave, and be willing to help me edit my stories. I just had one rejected, due to punctuation errors, IE comma errors. I would also like said editor to help me out with the dialog in the story. Thank you in advance for any help.
I have rough draft of a story done, and I want to make sure it does not violate the guidelines in any way. I have written a story about an Army wife in the 80's who has children with her husband. I do mention the children in the story, but nothing funny goes on with them. All of the action is between the main character and her adult husband. I do have the following line at the beginning of the story: I fell in Love with him when I first saw him. During recess a week after John started going to my school I walked up to him and told him that I wanted him to marry me in ten years. I then kissed him and ran away. Would this violate our guidelines? Would that scene and the fact that they have kids would that violate the guidelines. If it does I can rework the story. Thank you for your advice.
