For what it's worth, I think a cam option would be kind of fun. Wouldn't use it personally I don't imagine, but I'd happily pay for it. I'm sure other members would enjoy it, and actually, it would help with writing collaborations.
Yah...I just don't like the "gore" part of the "I want to write blood and gore" part of the phrasing. I just don't see how you could work death and blood and "gore" into an erotic story. Perhaps I just lack imagination.
Also? Even if you were thinking along the lines of a nurse with a patient...yah. Florence Nightingale Syndrome really isn't a thing. Maybe talk to an actual nurse before going there.
No, it does not. Period, full stop.
To paraphrase what H. said, it's a very tricky business to switch tenses within a story. What Bill said about "head hopping" is also possible, and equally tricky.
A good author to spend some quality time with before trying to switch up tenses and POV's is Nicholson Baker. Sherman Alexie does it well, too. Good luck.
Yes...definitely a cuppa or four. Hi Laura!
Clogs (work), clogs or low heels (home), heels ( out).
IHOP, of course.

Denny's...if only because it's a default.
Hey...I've been a Mariners fan since before I can remember. My sons listen to me talk about 1995 like I'm telling a fairytale...at least the Mets, Braves and Rangers have been to a World Series. Also, won one. That's a thing, right?
Coffee, please. With sugar and milk, if possible, please.
Please read Jeff's latest; I loved the male protagonist, and his thought processes. Which are along the lines of, Sure, I might wind up transformed into a vampire or a cat....but it will be so worth it for that ass. Perfect.
Jen's newest is also wonderful--I do apologise, to Jeff, Jen, and everyone else, I've been terrible as of late about scoring but not leaving a comment. It's been a bit bonkers these past few weeks.
Please also see my sig line--whoring out Hannah's excellent No Way In, and also the gem that is new Rump Regular Phil's The Snuggle Hitch.

There are definitely more, and this list is in no particular order, just ones that I either imprinted on early on in my time on Lush or ones that have recently caught my attention.
Ernest Hemingway
Raymond Chandler
Dylan Thomas
Hunter S. Thompson
F. Scott Fitzgerald
Special Mention:
Michael Dorris
This short list includes only professional writers. Ulysses S. Grant, Winston Churchill, and numerous others have somehow pulled glory and fame out of the bottom a bottle of gin, to the benefit of the world.
My understanding is that it is a procedure that removes hair at the root, so essentially, waxing without the wax. And given that it's a sugar paste, likely with a lot more mess than is to be encountered with waxing.
The only upside seems to be that for the DIY crowd, sugar paste is water soluble, and residue can be easily showered away. As my waxing is done at the hands of my aesthetician, this is not a consideration, and so...yah, no, not trying the sugaring.
English is not my natural language, which is perhaps why I am so very careful, to the point of near-OCD obsession, with the use of oddities like apostrophes.
The flip side of this acute awareness of proper usage is that misuse of these oddities in stories, on this site or elsewhere, is that nothing brings me to a full stop whilst reading quite like a glaring mistake--for me, the placement of an apostrophe, or comma, or other punctuation mark, where none is needed or in an incorrect manner, will bring my brain to a full stop, making it nigh on impossible to continue with my reading. It is what it is.
So yes, apostrophes matter.
No...maybe I just lack the time and patience, but if I'm not loving a story, it languishes in my Google Drive. Some have eventually turned into something useful, but a lot more have wandered off into the woods to be eaten by bears.
As Ms. B pointed out, you can get so tied up in re-writes that it because a hot mess. Throw it away, move on.
Ermm...I may possibly probably yup surely did win a steel plate comp against a far more experienced competitor--this was a while ago--because I was a) wearing a very short black skirt and low heels (it's still a range, even if the competition isn't shoot-on-the-move) with black lace top stockings and b) I fumbled my first speed load, which caused me to bend over, which caused my competitor to...well, he dropped two subsequent speed loads.
Essentially, I won because I flashed my panties at a far superior competitor.
Tempted to just say, Don't hide all the keys to all the vehicles in someplace like, say, the koi pond in the front yard...but yah, sometimes a girl has to let her bitch flag fly. So...
Don't hide your love, don't be sparing in your affections. Not just sexual demonstrations of affection; small, careful things, like laying out his clothes every night in order of his dressing (socks, underwear, undershirt, shirt, trousers/jeans, belt), can be huge demonstrations of care.
A guarded heart is a lonely heart. Be mindful of that, always.
The kind, trusting part of me says essentially what patokl said--that perhaps he is, subjectively, still in love, but objectively, cannot tolerate that love.
The clinical, naturally suspect part of me says that he met someone, or was already with someone, at some level, when he met you. You were his unwitting litmus test. If he's totally ghosted, think "married". Not that he couldn't have been being genuine when he told you that he loved you--it's just that those are easy words to dangle from your lips when you're in the heady throes of lust and excitement.
Whatever the case, straighten your skirt, brush yourself off, and move forward. You did nothing to deserve this treatment. You are not responsible for his feelings or lack thereof, period, full stop.
Nicely done, Zoey. Good to see somebody else submitting a contest entry as their first submission to Lush. Turned out well for me. Welcome to Lush.

Limeade.
Cushion cut or Asscher cut?
Barkeep, a nightcap. Two shots of Drambuie, neat, would be perfectly lovely. Thank you.
I did not submit a poem for the competition. Hannah is either gracefully hiding her fury or on her way to kill me, I'm not sure which. Probably the latter.
In news that thus will likely be read posthumously, my youngest son, R., who was struck and dragged by a car whilst in a marked, signed and lighted crosswalk on Tuesday, is doing well. He was walking home from the bus stop and the driver of the vehicle failed to yield.
Again, this despite him being in a marked, signed and lighted crosswalk, in a school zone (the bus stop is at a nearby elementary--his elementary is a "magnet" school).
He's home and went to school on Thursday and is in all other respects busy being 10, because when you're ten, probably more specifically when you're ten and a boy, it's not about being hit by a car--it's about flying.
Also, a big concern of R.'s while he was laying in the middle of the intersection was that responding fire engines--and there were a few--not run over his clarinet. Told me later that his music teacher would be upset if he came to class next Tuesday without his clarinet. So the clarinet was loaded into the ambulance with R. It's good to be ten.
Please remember to keep your ICE information and the ICE information in your children's phones updated. I hadn't kept a secondary (my work) number updated on the boys' phones, and didn't receive initial contact regarding the accident until some 20 minutes after the first engine arrived on scene. First responders can and do use the ICE (In Case of Emergency--you can put all the info under a contact labelled "ICE", or if you have an iPhone, there's an entire, unlocked prelabeled ICE feature for use by first responders). So please use the "medical information" feature on your iPhone, or create a contact labelled ICE on your phone, or both.
Mmm....what are you doing down there....ohhhh....
Morning, love...I've started the coffee. Go again?
You struck my son, my baby, with your fucking car today. You had better count yourself damn lucky that R. will be okay, that the relatively minor injuries he suffered FROM BEING THROWN TO THE MIDDLE OF THE FUCKING STREET by your FUCKING WILLFUL NEGLIGENT DRIVING will heal.
You had also better count yourself damn lucky that R.'s backpack sustained and absorbed a good portion of the blow, thus protecting his spine and internal organs. You have no idea how bloody fucking terrifying it is, as a mother, to receive a call from someone identifying himself as a paramedic and hear "blah blah blah YOUR SON HAS BEEN HIT BY A CAR AND IS BEING TRANSPORTED".
I doubt that the hefty ticket and whatever else you were given will change your ways--you tried to tell the officer that it was MY CHILD'S FAULT for "not being more visible". What in the everliving fuck does that even mean, you fucker? YOU WERE AT A FUCKING MARKED CROSSWALK. The officers dressed you down but gosh, somehow I'm guessing that you're busy rationalizing your actions--not going to assist my son immediately, and probably considering leaving, had two or more witnesses not stopped when R.'s body was thrown into the street--to actually take responsibility.
Fuck. You.
