Ya-know, I remember back in the day when Syfy was Sci-fi and stayed true to the roots of science fiction.
Like other genres, science fiction has taken a kick to the creative balls. Horror movies have become comedic bloodfests, and science fiction has become a laughable sad sack of series.
Back then, Sci-fi actually showed science fiction movies and TV series, not just some gorey shit that featured some type of crazy character.
Shows like "Eureka", and classic sci-fi flicks were the norm. Now, I dunno about the other nerds on the board, but I don't watch it like I used to.
Syfy should be the natural home for shows like "Heroes of Cosplay", not spin-offs of some biblical horror-slash-thriller flick. That's not science fiction. That's an okay movie, but NOT science fiction.
Nerds unite! Maybe we should start protesting all of the shit they've started showing on Syfy the way the fans of those 50 Shades books are going bonkers for the choice of actors in the movie.

I've not read the books, to be honest, but at the same time, I have skimmed sections (and not just the sex parts).
I know both names chosen as the leads, and I must second Nicola ... I'm disappointed in their choices. I understand the "availability and interest" as cited in the article, but at the same time ... They're making the movie for the fans. And most would agree that those actors aren't suited.
Hunnam is a great actor, but I don't think he's got the panache and dominating nature to fully become Christian Grey. I just don't see him doing it. And, well, Aanastasia Steele has an air of innocence, which Johnson doesn't possess. I don't even think makeup could make that look.
I don't have any say-so, whatsoever, but that's just my two cents.
I'll give it a go, anyhow. But maybe once it's on Netflix, that way I don't waste too much of my money.
