There is no definition of what the numbers correlate to. Why should a story get a 4 vice a 5? With no definition, how can you complain? My personal definition is below. I can change the definition if there is a more formal score.

Amazing what 25 years can do. Jack Palance read the wrong name for best supporting actress and no one said anything because no one actually knew what was written on the cards. The people who did the card typing/envelope stuffing were not there and Jack was all by his lonesome up there so no partner to disagree with him.

For the old folks, I think a lot of us have to quantify it. Before the late 1980s, as hinted, there was a lot of misinformation and flat out ignorance.
