an intelligent convo with The Deep?* Of course!

*that's what I call him: The Deep. Short for 'dpw'; that's how tight we are. Both in relationship and the current (and hopefully permanent) condition of our anuses (anii?)

Kim Yu Na got hosed badly. Not a skater I've seen that's as graceful or powerful or as consistent.

That's Russia for you. Ousted in hockey. Putin had to make phone calls to make up for it.

She got royally screwed, I agree. sad

You know what they say...

In Russia, you don't execute your program. The program executes you!

Totally taking nothing away from Charlie and Meryl, who are an extremely accomplished dance team. Those who know the ins and outs of the sport though see differences (you can read a decent overview in this article). To the untrained eye, it's impossible to see why one team is better than another, but to those that understand program component scores, you can see that something has been 'off' in the scores at Sochi. Nearly every team topped their personal bests in the short program, and yet V&M who were flawless and the top choice by the guy who actually invented the Finnstep, were two points behind their personal best. That in itself - shows something isn't right with how things have been going down in the judges box.

Ice Dance has always been figure skating's problem child though - without jumps - it's the easiest discipline to 'fix/judge' ahead of time. I'm just all for a fair shake for the athletes. They all spend a crazy amount of time training. If politics come into play (realistically the $$ that can get funnelled for gold medalists in a country like the US is huge), then it's just a shame for both teams. Who wants to win a gold amidst this kind of scandal, right? It tarnishes it somehow. And damn - this has been blowing up on twitter, social media and the press for over a week now. It's all I'm seeing. If it does turn into something akin to the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City where it was finally verified that there was a judging fix, and they had to award second Gold medals after-the-fact, then the sport is basically doomed as far as Olympic competition.

Anyway - either way - I'd congratulate the top two teams - they were both fantastic.

I'm finding a harder and harder time accepting the validity of a sport that's decided by human judges rather than against a clock, or a race to a certain number of points. It's just too easy for judges to cross over from unavoidable subjectivity to outright fixing, or more importantly, it's too difficult to assure the public that such activities aren't going on. To say nothing of the horribly corrupt IOC in general. When I really start thinking about it, it starts to spoil the entire Olympics for me, so I try not to.

I watched a replay of the ice dancing finals this morning (I was working and couldn't see the broadcast last night), and granted, I really don't know what I'm watching as far as the intricacies go, but I really thought the Canadian dancers were better. In the previous round (?) the night before, when the American team also had higher scores, the NBC crew even said, "the Canadians must now be thinking, 'what's can we possibly do to take back first place?'". In light of what I'd read, it put a sour tasted in my mouth.

So yes, the whole thing sucks. I've read things that essentially say that the conspiracy theory may sound exciting, but practically speaking makes little sense, and yes, it's only a rumor at this point. However, the outcomes did happen exactly as theorized.

I like watching figure skating and ice dancing; I have tremendous respect for their talents, and strength, and artistry. But I almost feel like I enable this sham by watching it. I wish there were some better way to determine a winner among all of these individuals and couples whose abilities are simply breathtaking.

I think the best way to deal with the homophobic brigade is to ignore them. Get on with your life in private and pay no attention. I always find that when you ignore your detractors it not only annoys the hell out of them but they also leave you alone in the end. Entering into some kind of dialogue with these idiots just attracts more attention to their cause.

I see where you're coming from, and if it were you and I, in a more or less normal workplace, I'd agree with your point. But the reality is that in the world of big-time professional American sports (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL), being gay is still a barrier to entry, much like women or blacks have had to endure in other industries or executive strata in the past. Unfortunately the issue must be laid bare, publicly, so that in the future it won't have to be. Staying quiet doesn't neutralize homophobia, it enables and prolongs it.

I liked this response...

He's a local newscaster where I live. smile. Great, great commentary.
If I'm in the mood for rough sex, then yes. I like them gripped, squeezed, slapped. Never really a fan of nipple-pinching, though. I'm too sensitive for that, and while I get off on being dominated sometimes, I never really get off on pure pain.

Yet another Sports 'Celebrity' seeking publicity by 'coming out'.

Why don't they just 'stay in' and keep their sexuality to themselves...

It's really easy for those of us who exist wholly outside an environment of traditional homophobic persecution to roll our eyes and act like he's being an attention whore. He's not. He's a groundbreaker. It's sad that we live in a world where disclosure of sexual preference passes for news, but in his case, as a prospective professional football player, it absolutely is.

To argue differently is to be complicit with the don't ask/don't tell status quo, which by default shames gays into staying silenced. I, for one, would never wish for people of any orientation to have to stay silent.

he got pink eye, nothing to worry about, but very bad timing for him!

Pink eye is so preventable, too. Guess he never saw Knocked Up.

Julia Lipnitskaia. just wow...

Jesus. Wow. Just watched her free skate; what a beautiful, delicate, strong machine she is. Clearly the best here, the only way she loses is if she falters. I'm pulling for her.

Learning how to do cartooning, to help me better understand how to draw/paint people in general. This is my drawing, but I applied the color digitally.
No refund for me. I'm having to write a big ass check.

Gotta pay the Man. The Man will get his money.

I wonder how much the bookies made on this one. Always, always, always, follow the money.

My understanding is that overall, 68% of bets were made on Denver, and I know the line didn't move much during the week, so the sharps were probably fairly evenly divided on this one, and the books probably did very well.

I did see that the prop bet "first score is a safety" paid 50-1, so the books took a certain amount of beating only 12 seconds into the game, when it occurred.

If I scream during sex, it's either because I'm having an all-time great orgasm- and I'm talking like top 1%- or I just experienced searing internal pain.

LOL The funny part being the HO she has turned into since!

Evidence, please.

What makes her a "HO", exactly? Wagging her tongue and shaking her ass? Or is it a lack of clothing? By those definitions, are lingerie models all whores as well?
Quote by DainJay
To tack on to this, is there a point where abs, or muscles of any kind, are too defined and end up turning you off?

Yes. Mr. Universe physiques freak me out. And I like big, muscular guys, but too much is too much.

The most amusing thing in this thread is the number of times "knows how to use it" is mentioned. I always assumed sex was a two way street, surely you all know the best way to get yourself off even with a smaller cock size. Just take charge of the situation, he'll love you for it.

That point was way overdue in being made around here. I've had the same thought, but you were much clearer and more concise than what was in my head.

It's not all on the guy to make it satisfying (though of course, inconsiderate partners ruin everything). Ultimately, chemistry will take care of much of the whole "is he/she good in bed" question. Big cock, small cock, thick cock, thin cock: we all have preferences that either become the whole story or a footnote, depending on who and what the encounter entails.

It's almost as if we're pre-programmed to repeat the "it might be big but is worthless if he doesn't know how to use it" line whenever the size question comes up. If you find yourself thinking back on encounters with big penises and thinking "you know, it's too bad that none of those dudes knew how to use it", then it's likely that you just prefer cocks that aren't that big.
