Someone here asked if they could write another chapter to one of my stories. I said yes as long as they didn't use actual parts of my story in their own follow on chapters. That was a while ago though and they haven't followed through on the idea yet.
It doesn't bother me as long as the person asks permission first. It's similar to fan-fiction in a way and it's under someone else's name so I'm not responsible for the style or content.
I voted for option two. It's easy enough to see new stories on the front page or click on "follow the author" if I want to make sure I don't miss a new story. If all that fails I can see their status update or forum signature, which is a friendlier way of advertising. PMing an entire friends list is overkill in my opinion.
My drink of choice is an ice cold pint of Stella Artois. I like sampling different beers from around the world, but I always come back to that one.
Number one doesn't include brushing teeth so I went with number two.
I don't use a traditional bar of soap though. I prefer the scented shower gels that leave me smelling like a fruit salad.
You should definitely contact the seller and if there are other authors experiencing the same thing with this person, it might help getting them on board too. See if you can Google the other stories and find the original authors.
Sorry about what you're experiencing. I know how annoying it can be, but it's good that you're following through and doing something about it rather than letting someone else cash in on your hard work.
I prefer the new list with gay in place of gay male. I also like Lola's idea of adding bi-curious.
"Shadow" because they're a shadow of their former selves.
Those women were rude to comment in that way when you didn't ask for their opinion. You did ask for ours though! I really like your boots but if I was to wear them I'd make them the star of the show and play everything else down. I would've worn a black top and skirt and left out the fishnets, but we all have different tastes. As you mentioned, it's up to you how you dress. As long as you're happy and it makes you feel good it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.
My weak point is coming up with an ending and trying to round things up after the deed's done. That always takes me the longest to write.
Back in my younger days I used the hair of the dog cure, too. The first drink almost made me cry but numbers two and three always went down a treat.
The other hangover cure that always worked well was a huge slurpee.
Those days are behind me now though, and I've gotta say I don't miss them!
If there's good tension and chemistry between the two people involved, it keeps my interest regardless of whether there's a sex scene to follow. I like the anticipation and the build up. It lets me get to know the characters and understand why they're together.
I keep mine as natural as possible so I don't scare anyone (including myself) when I have to go without for any reason.
I had a friend once who wouldn't leave her house without a full face of makeup. We've lost touch now, but I never got to see what she actually looked like - and we were friends for years.
It’s frustrating seeing good authors receive low scores just to take them off the top spot. It’d be different if the people giving those scores included a reason for their vote. Their feedback could turn out to be valuable to a writer who takes pride in their work.
I don’t think there’s a solution here though. Any kind of competition just brings out the worst in some people. You could extend the voting range to a ten point system but that just gives those who sabotage stories more power. If the Top Authors list was removed it would still leave the “most popular” and “most viewed” tabs in each category. Unfortunately it’s all a part of competition. The majority of people involved are good sports, but there’s a small number who aren’t. I hope none of you let those people discourage you. At least you can be happy knowing they'll never be able to manipulate the Editor’s Pick category. That's based on story quality rather than the author's popularity.
You get out of marriage what you put into it and that includes the time spent together before you make the commitment. It can't thrive on neglect.
It's funny that when people go out to buy a new car they often do a lot of research, spend many hours finding out all the good points and bad points, then make a decision - and they only keep the car for a short time. If everyone put the same amount of effort into finding the right partner, there'd be a much lower divorce rate.
They made me laugh, but then I felt bad for laughing!
Sometimes being unreliable is a good thing though. We had an electrician doing work at our place that took him six hours to complete. We still haven't received the bill after reminding him twice. And this was three years ago!
I hope you find someone soon. They're annoying when you have to keep chasing after them.
Excellent! I've enjoyed reading her writing tips.
I read a lot of romance novels and present tense isn't common in this genre. The one I'm currently reading is written in present tense and I'm not enjoying it as much.
Great advice and nicely presented.
