It began with awkwardness and pain, to grow into the greatest pleasure.

What do you win for 4th place?

My guess is bragging rights for being in the top five :P

Struggling with ideas myself, lol. I have to pick one and do the draft this weekend because I take ages to edit and need to leave room for that.

My fear is writing a story that feels too rushed because of the word limit.

Real. I have started 3 different stories already, and had to stop bc they were going to go over word count. I still want to finish them but like I think me writing a story just without word limits averages around 3k words for me to feel like I told a complete story that's not rushed and still sexy etc.

I don't know about the mods, but I'm still recovering from writing a 10,000 word story! 😊

I like the theme for this competition, just hoping I have time to write something worthy. 🙄😜

Real. I am recovering from writing TWO 10k stories since my first attempt for the last theme got rejected and I had to try again (but still submitted the other as a non-comp story). So maybe a Flash Festive contest is something we all need to help us recover? A "Rebound" Competition, as it were, to prevent the Writer's Block from getting its claws too deep in us.

I'm amused. I think the mods got worn out reading all those 10k word stories last go round. LOL

Hushed breath on lips, as candle wax dripped on their frotting cocks.

Greetings

I'm curious, are scripts (stage play/ screen play) format allowed on Lush or is it only narrative/poem formats allowed? Is it possible to add a script category in the future perhaps ? Like if wanted to write ether a bawdy theatre play in five acts, or a hypnokink script for the mind play category are those allowed or could they be allowed after a time of deliberation? I have been wanting to rekindle my skit/script writing skills but not sure of where I could write them.

I think the Blue /Companion site Stories Space allows Plays, but if they are erotic plays then they aren't allowed. so basically, asking if there is any hope for a Play/Script category on Lush for Erotic Stage Scenes/ Film Writing Practice etc? Could even kick off a competition for it, to kind of encourage or open the floor for a new category but putting some stories in the category etc? Just an idea/question. Looking forward to feedback/answers to this Query

Thanks

I sometimes need to have my recent stories open in other tabs so I can CTRL+F and figure out where I used a word that I know I used somewhere .

Hmm that's an idea, do the find and replace thing to see how often I used a word in general, maybe its not as often as I think it is but at the same time it could also help with like an over use of conjunctions or transitional words that I learned I use too much of, when I was writing a piece for the last comp and had to shave words down to meet wordcount, cos it was over 10k words and I got it down by cutting a lot of words like 'and' 'then' 'but' etc. It was actually kind of fun, but gotta be careful I didn't trim it too sparse and kill the imagery or poetry of a description or scene. so that's the balance in a way. Leave enough meat on the bone so to speak

Use metaphors to illustrate (and deepen) your descriptions. Also, contrary to the advice above, perhaps it's a lesser crime to reuse the same basic plain-spoken descriptors than it is to go out of your way to avoid it by substituting flowery esoteric language that draws far much attention to itself and interrupts the flow of the narrative.

Yeah I was worried about this extreme too. I mean I like using poetic metaphors etc, but there is a fine line between 'purple prose' and 'trying too hard to sound a certain type of way when just using the same adverb you always use would do the trick just fine' cos I mean after all we are basically all writing porn on this website, but like I'm a nerd that likes to think of erotica writing as an artform that i can always get better at.

So I am noticing I am using a lot of the same descriptions, adverbs, etc, in my writing. I was wondering if any other author has noticed that they do that too, and what do you do to change up the word choices? Short of reading a thesaurus or something? How do you basically jazz up how you describe things so you're not getting repetitive for using the same words in every story?

Woo! I think I have like 15-20 categories left, and so many I have started stories for, a few in my drafts and a few I have to think up something for.
