After being on Lush for the last few years, you are still going to hold to this statement? LOL

BTW, my local Debbie's Dildo Emporium now delivers, but then again I am a Gold Club customer!

From what I've heard, you keep them in business!

To the OP...

Why the hell would I be embarrassed about buying lingerie??

Would you be embarrassed if you had to buy condoms? Would you go to the store and buy tampons for your SO?

To be honest, I've used online chat less than half a dozen times, in the whole time we've had it. I get instant messages a fair bit, but miss many for the same reasons as you guys. I have to backtrack to my messages folder, click on the message, then go to that person's profile, and click the IM link.

It's clumsy.

I don't know what volume of use the online chat gets (Gav would know this), but how about merging the instant message and online chat functions, into just one, which resembles FB chat as LM suggests?

I know Gav is snowed under, so this would have to wait, but I'll ask him what's doable on a technical level first. The mechanics are all in place, it's a question of merging the two, and allowing the function to be pinned / float.

I think that sounds like a wonderful idea!! I love how much of Lush is social... It's so much more than just stories!

Poor Gav...

Ha ha, there's a tagline for Lush right there...

Lush - it's so much more than just stories...

So, I've had discussions with a few friends here lately and I was wondering how you find new stories to read?

Personally, what I do is this:

I get PMs when authors I follow post something new, I sometimes click on stories that I see friends have voted or commented on in my newsfeed, I'll check out the front page to see what's new.

Those are the main ways that I find out about new stories and how I choose to read them.

Of course, there are quite a few ways for writers to promote their stuff and I wondered how you do or do not like to find out what people are writing...

To promote mine:

- I will often blog when I post something new, so that my friends can see.

- I will sometimes change my forum signature so that people in the forums can see (although I'm not sure how effective this method is)

- I used to send out mass messages to friends on my list, however, I've found that I don't like to be bombarded with messages of this sort, so I only tend to do it if I have a competition entry, or something special to promote - it seems like a bit of an intrusion to me somehow.

- When I have a story verified, there is an option in the PM informing you that the story has been posted, to tweet it - I sometimes do that.

- Sometimes, I'll check a specific category - Editor's Picks, Recommended Reads, Audio etc

So, as a reader, what is and is not acceptable to you?

How do you like to find new things to read? Finding new stories is different to how we want to find out that our friends/favourite authors TELL us they have a new one.

You can vote, but please add your thoughts below if you have some...

Thanks in advance smile

I sure hope you get to see it. I saw them a couple years ago when we visited Iceland. It truly is a spectacular sight!!

It's funny Nikki, when I was writing that post, I was totally thinking of you. I remember when you made that trip... God, doesn't time fly on Lush? It seems like only a month or two ago!!

I do this too - I still miss a lot of 'real-time' BBs because they'll appear on the first window I have open, which I don't always check regularly. I sometimes find them a few days later, but by then it seems weird to reply to a conversation someone was trying to have with me several days earlier.

Sometimes I'll still reply.. Just to mess with their heads...

I like both of the above suggestions.

Does the existing online chat box (not the IM) disappear when you open different windows? I've not tested it (shows how much time I have to chat with people).

A smaller version of that down the bottom right, which stays there when navigating different pages, would be nice.

The IMs do disappear if you navigate to another page, unless you've already clicked on a new page, in which case, they will sometimes appear...

Like LM, I tend to keep two pages open so that I don't miss any BBs (not that I usually have tons at any given time, but it is one of my favourite ways of communicating as I Lush...)

I rarely use the chat box function because it doesn't work so well on my iPhone and also because I tend to switch between my phone and my laptop - a chat function would mean that it wouldn't make any difference which I was on... Of course, it's absolutely not necessary, but it would be a lovely feature to be able to use...
I like LM's idea of the chat function thing - I'm forever losing BBs...

I had another suggestion which has been rolling around in my head for a while...

I really like the forum ticker thing at the top of some of the pages and I tend to use it quite a lot - I'll often click on things just because they are "trending" when I might not have bothered otherwise...

The suggestion that I have is that I think it would be great if we could see a trending story ticker on some pages?

Now, I know that we can see all the new stories on the front page, or in our newsfeed or whatever, and I know that the ticker would mostly show current/new stories, but sometimes I'll see that a friend has commented on a story and when I click, it turns out to be an old one - this can be a real treat sometimes...

I just thought that it might give older, less-seen, stories a wee random chance to get some more views/votes/comments? (I don't know how it would work if someone has story genres blocked and if there would be a way around that or not?)

Anyway, it's something that I would personally like...

(I always feel really needy when I post in here BTW hahahaha)
I don't actually think that we as writers on this site (or any other) have a 'right' to demand scores or feedback from anyone who reads our work. Of course, I personally very much appreciate the fact that people sometimes take the time to vote and even more so when they leave a comment or even send a PM to show their appreciation or lack of it. A vote of 5 is of course ideal, however it very much depends on how each individual reader scores the stories they read. Less than five from one reader may actually be worth more than a five from someone who just automatically scores everything with a five... And while we all know how helpful comments can be, I think that many people just don't want to - and why should they?

I do like the idea of good feedback/scoring being akin to 'payment' for something they've gotten for free - it seems like a nice idea, however, we as writers have chosen to give it for free, so we don't really have any right to demand feedback etc, but for the reader to give it freely does seem mannerly to me, but not essential.

As I've said in various threads, it really is down to the reader whether they choose to leave a score or comment or not - our choice, as posters on this site, is to accept what we get or not. There are various ways of trying to get more interaction or less - forced commenting, switching off scoring and or commenting (I so dislike forced commenting)

As an aside, I have, over the years, purchased a great number of books or ebooks. I have received them as gifts, I have borrowed them... If I am being very very honest, I have left maybe only a handful of reviews in my lifetime...
Some of my favourite female writers here would be:

Lisa
Shylass
Curlygirly
Sprite
Dancing Doll
Saga
Naughtynurse
Personal Assistant
Laura Lee Sugah
Poppet

(those are just the first which come to mind)
Okay, so here's your chance to see a natural wonder of your own...

From midnight tonight (GMT) there is a HIGH possibility of being able to see the Northern Lights, due to sunstorms, for the next 48 hours!

So, here's hoping for some clear skies and some pretty colours...

I know it's something I'd like to see before I die...

Take a look at the link for more information...

Aurora Borealis

Okay, so, first post here, but it's a good one, huh?

Gave me goosebumps anyway smile

Hi Mazza - Mine do not default to the top of my list. It is just the last poem/story that I wrote. I am talking about Non-Verified work. Those are just mixed in the things that have already been approved.

I hope that makes sense.

Oh, mine don't do that... Unpublished stuff sits at the top until I move it...

FWIW, one of the stories linked on my sig line is first person with a female POV while the other is third person limited with the POV of a big mouth bass.

I have read this story and I urge you to check it out if you've not read it - it's very clever and a damned fine read!!

MAZ!Where've you been You sultry Scots seductress? Just got in a shipment of 'Old Overshoe' whiskey that's claims to have been aged at least 36 hours. Care to try some in a hot toddy or maybe a whiskey sour? The more you cover the taste of this 150 proofwhiskey, the better.

I've been busy, Rump!! Lots going on and I was without wifi for a while...

I'm back now, so yeah, pour me one of those please!!

smile

Good to see ya!

I would love to see when you write new things, when you are waiting for them to be approved if they could be at the top of your stories list.

It is hard to keep track of them when they are all mixed up through all your stories.

Actually, if you click on the Account, My Stories - you will see that they do default to the top of your list, but will just show as unverified... But you can still re-order them from there...
I was wondering if there might be a way to re-organise stories which users have posted?

I'm at the stage where not all of my stories fit on my profile page any more, so I need to re-order the ones that I'd like people to click (reasoning that ones displayed on my profile page are more likely to get hits and that ones which have to actually be viewed by clicking on the "all stories" link are less likely to be seen)

What it means though is that rather than being able to keep some of my "series/linked" stories together and in sequence on my stories page, I've had to split them up and not have them sitting in the correct order, they're a bit jumbled. Obviously each story will have a "continue reading" link at the bottom, but I wondered if it might be possible to have a way of displaying your best/favourite stories on your profile page, but to be able to organise your "all stories" page so that they can be tidy (god, I know I must sound OCD about this and maybe I am, but I'm guessing that there will be others who feel the same?)

I don't have mine ordered by category, rather I've chosen the way I want them to sit, you know?

Do you suppose that it would be possible to have a "series" category for stories in many parts, but without losing the actual category they are in? In the same way that stories with an EP, or Audio or a RR have?

I know that I've had feedback from quite a few people who enjoy a longer read, but I'd be reluctant to put any of mine in that section, as I would "lose" the category they were originally posted in and I figure that a Hardcore or Reluctance story is more likely to get better views than one posted as a Novel...

(hope this makes sense, I can barely string two words together today ha ha ha)
I have to agree with you on this one, DD. I loved the original series and I think it stayed sharp, funny, sexy and poignant pretty much all the way through, which is some feat when you think how long it ran for.

I did enjoy the first movie, but I'd rather have seen another few episodes than a movie.

I've never watched the second one, having been pretty much warned off it.

I don't really want to see another movie now... A one-off episode? Perhaps, but again maybe it's just better to let it rest in peace...
I think this is an excellent idea for a thread!!

Long may she (or he) prosper!
I just saw this video and I thought that it was worthy of sharing...

Nice to see how people respond, interesting...

Take pictures of me putting my dick on literally everything. I would make a twitter account specifically for this purpose. My twitter handle would be @mydickoneverything.

I would also make a lovely scrapbook to remember all the fun times I had with my dick.

God Maz you even write Hot Forum posts, if there was a forum which there likely is for best Lush writer I just haven't seen you know I would say you.

Ok wow KK is about to make a serious post. (this rarely happens)

It depends on my mood, I like to fuck, I like to make love.

I don't personally like my arse played with at all but that's just me because of a bad experience.

On the whole im quite submissive sexually. I like the man to take control (not hurt me tho) pin me down, talk dirty dominate me that really turns me on. That said If ive had a glass of wine ....or a bottle lol im the opposite I like to be in charge and be on top, im a tease and am horny as hell, booze makes me horny and I like to drive my partner crazy.

I think variety is fun and is good for an active sex life. who wants the same everytime?? seems boring to me and leads to boring missionary non orgasmic sex eg marriage pmsl lol.

Talk about it, if people are sexually involved and yes I do think this comes with age when I was younger I wasn't able to tell people what I wanted, wasn't comfortable with it and had a whole lot of lousy sex. Nowadays I refuse to have sex with anyone who doesn't satisfy me and I've no problem with saying what I want.

Actually, you raise a very good point...

Although I've always enjoyed sex, it's not really until fairly recent years that I've found it truly satisfying.

I'm much more in touch with my wants and needs now, and I have no problem saying what I do or don't want. When I was younger, I rarely had an orgasm from sex, even less from oral.

I'd say that even in the few years since I joined lush, I've become more experimental, learned more, which has positive effects on my sex life...

Now all I need is practical application with someone like minded...
Riding him cowgirl, something about the position... I can angle myself so his cock strokes my G and I can use my fingers too...

In doggy, if he's fucking me and plays with my ass, especially if there's some dirty talk...

Face to face, whether lying, or with him on a chair and me fucking him, if he sucks and bites my nipple (particularly the right one) that really gets me...
