Looking at Daisy's original question, I admit to becoming upset for a low score, much more so if without a comment. I did once accidentally score a story lower than intended and so tried to make up for it on another story they had written
Now, when I receive a singular low score I excuse as a mistake.
I did have one story that was getting somewhat lower scores and I even posted a comment that I was going to do an edit and repost it. The next day the scores were higher... but I still have not got around to doing that edit (go figure). Since then it has been 'Favorited' by others.
I have read stories from every person posting here before me and simply reject that any intelligent person without a vindictive grudge could vote less than a 5 for them; unless they just screwed up voting.
Yet the truth of the matter is, I don't have a lot of confidence in the scoring system as I frequently see truly excellent stories with a score only a half point above the mediocre stories. So I write for the comments, and now require a comment for any vote. So now... I read the comments and ignore the vote.
Life is good.
