Now that's a story seed if I ever heard one.
This is certainly off topic, and thus my last comment in this thread on it. My previous comment may have been meta, but it was an attempt to keep the thread on the introduced topic rather than have it become a debate about the stimulus bill. It is true that Pam mentioned the bill, but only regarding the initiatives and incentives for green technologies. Widening the discussion to a guaranteed politically charged debate about the entirety of the bill would, I am most certain, derail the thread entirely.
This thread was and is not about environmental activities taken in a governmental context. Earth Day is, in its origins and history, a grassroots movement. Government initiatives to help individuals improve their environmental impact are relevant to the discussion, but they are not the discussion itself.
I think that the involvement of government in pursuit of environmental goals is a great - and potentially highly contentious - topic, but not for this thread unless explicitly invited by the thread originator. And Pam, the originator, asked that Orion's (not your) sideline discussion be taken to PM.
I'm all for dialogue. But "doesn't X piss you off?" to me does not sound like dialogue. To me, it sounds like provocation. Perhaps I'm the only one, in which case I humbly apologize for my oversensitivity.
Again, the dialogue of which you speak could be wonderful in this forum - or it could rapidly devolve into partisan sniping. Either way, it belongs in its own thread unless the OP says it's OK here, and I interpret that she's said it isn't.
Something that would be on topic would be the question whether Earth Day really does what it should, and could it be made better, more accessible, and more appealing across ideologies?
Also, what is the best way to link Earth Day to erotic activities? Ah! Perhaps that latter question is in fact the answer to the former.
Since the OP was about Earth Day and not the stimulus bill, on which intelligent people may respectfully disagree, it is entirely possible your point was ignored as off topic, rather than missed.
I'll take two at the same time if they're pretty.
Is the "Recent Activity" like a microblog? What notifications go in the field? items from your friends or something else?

is usually a squick for me - I've only found a bare handful of stories I've cared for. On the other hand, a great deal of what I write is inappropriate for Lush in other ways mentioned in this thread, and therefore not posted to the site. In my own defense and respectfully, writing stories on the darker side isn't necessarily a sign of an unstable individual (a warped mind, maybe) - fantasies are exactly that. I have moral reprehension for many of the scenarios I write if they would ever occur in the real world. I believe , for example, should qualify for capital punishment. But that doesn't mean that those specters don't stalk the imagination and turn some people on as warped extremes of control fantasies. In the case that started this thread, the true horror was not so much the (though one can make the case that any parent-child - even if the child is no longer a minor - is abusive because of the power dynamic involved), but the systematic abuse within that incestuous relationship.
I pretty much followed the same path as nicola, continuing a basic home-conservationist policy I've had for years. I think Earth day is nicely symbolic, but I also find its educational value is often overwhelmed by extremists on both sides of environmental issues, so I am ambivalent about it.
It is possible that this extended solar minimum is temporarily, and only partially, mitigating the human-origin warming effects (i.e. we are still warming, if more slowly, even though solar output is fractionally lower). IOW, without the quiet sun (which is not going to remain quiet forever), climate change effects would be more pronounced.
That's this close -><- to tentacle porn.
Definitely not. Even on a landscape with certain forbidden zones, there are infinite places to explore.
Truth up front, even if it's awkward. It's hard, but best.

A lot of ambient rhythms are good. But it really depends on the lead up. Lots of different kinds of dance - from ballroom to club - *are* essentially foreplay, so that music can easily become the aphrodisiac soundtrack of the night.
Thank you again, Nicola - for the kind words and the plug!
I just posted some thanks in my more commented stories. Maybe it's time to upload some more...
Thanks all! I think I will go the comments route, for now at least. I've tended to respond in kind to comments when I can - e-mail for e-mail, private message for message, so that rings consistent for me. Of course, for anyone that actually reads this post and has liked any of my stories, thanks to you as well!
I've received some very nice comments on some of my stories, and was wondering if there was an appropriate way to say 'thank you' within the site. Do other authors here often add their own gratitude comments to the comment lists, or is that considered gauche?
I think that if it were simply me with different equipment, I'd waste half the time freaking out. If it were a full on temporary transformation, I'd probably spend an hour freaking out, 6 more figuring out how everything works down to the last nerve ending, then (after some rest) finding some partners of both sexes to put the first 6 hours of research to maximum use.
While I have many dark fantasies, none of them involve my significant other, and none will ever see any more reality than words on a page.
