I always knew you were awesome... clearly I'm not the only one who feels that way.

I get notified when a story gets favorited. I always try to thank then with an email. Must be a setting somewhere.

This shows up on your timeline... and until now I had never thought to thank the person.

This has been said before, and recently, but I think blog posts should be editable, AND, it would be wildly cool if people could comment, or at least "Like" a blog post.

Agreed.

Personally i would not go around follower shopping to get a badge.

I didn't go friend shopping

i didn't post extra in the forum

i didn't comment and vote for badges

I didn't enter competitions just for the badge

etc

However it was great to receive the badges anyway.

just sayin'

I have quite a few followers and I've never solicited for them... it was 100% their choice to follow me... and the pattern I've seen was they chose to follow me after they read something I wrote. Clearly I must be doing something right.

Same reason I follow certain authors... I like their stuff. None of them have asked me to follow them. It was my choice.

Having a badge for this would be a bonus. Same way getting one for entering a comp is and the new Top 10 badge that I've earned (as have many others.) The badges I have were just nice treats/bonuses for doing my normal stuff on Lush.
in the future... if you have a problem with what I'm doing... come to me and don't be a bitch and go to admin. While they said, "My department," I know it was you and you alone. Bitch please... you only teach the kids who just need a bit of guidance... not the kids I teach on a daily basis... the kids who struggle with English... the kids who struggle with reading... the kids who due to their disabilities struggle to earn what your kids take for granted.

And since you clearly know nothing about testing and test prep... let me clue you in... last minute cramming doesn't fucking work and trying to teach burned-out students the week before spring break is useless & futile.

I've been teaching my students how to approach this stupid test all year... I've been teaching them literature and reading skills... but I'll happily go to hell because I won't teach to the test.

Better yet... you go to hell first for doing exactly that... and maybe you'll meet me there.

For the former scenario, it might have to be called the "highlander" badge (there can be only one)!

I like the second idea, though I think your original steps of 100, 200, 300, seem more reasonable to me.

And it would be clickable in which the Queen song from the movie plays and a Christopher Lambert gif opens his raincoat and flashes you.

Here's the song minus the flashing Christopher Lambert... best I could do Buz.

Let's give something easy to Gav. I brought up once before about an edit button to your blog post. That way if something is wrong you dont have to rewrite the whole thing. Make writing a blog so much easier.

This!!! I've deleted so many blog posts then regretted it becasue I can't remember the wording I used before when I wanted to edit in the first place.

i also think there should be a badge for when people get a high number of followers. like 'celebrity'. Or 'rockstar'. Maybe 200 followers plus?

This could be a fun one if it came to life.

Quote by Green_Man
I put this forward as a possible new badge months ago. Lauradj was the only person who seemed to like the idea. I had set the goal as 500 followers for a badge. Oh, well. I do love anything for a badge.

500?! Dang! Maybe that can be the "Rockstar" level and the "Celebrity" level can be at a lower level.

Thanks for the links, I'm listening to them now. I learned about Belle Guness from this podcast. She was *actually the first American serial killers, with 25-40 victims

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belle_Gunness

*edit-sorry, not the first. Her murders spanned between 1900-1908

http://www.ranker.com/list/theories-h-h-holmes-and-jack-the-ripper-were-the-same-person/cristina-sanza

Happy to share the links. And yes... I've heard the theory that HH Holmes and Jack the Ripper might be the same person... but there is other evidence that they are not the same... but there is a theory that Jack did come to the US and continue his murders.
I saw this thread title and knew instantly it was all about Sprite... as it should be. She was one of my first friends and her story, "Writer's Block" was one of my early favorites... and for good reason. She's been an amazing friend and someone who is well deserved and way overdue for this.

sadly, what we found was members getting less than perfect scores going out of their way to harass those voters to the point where people felt compelled to score 5s and nothing else. neither way is perfect, but at least people can vote honestly now without fear of reprisal.

I fully agree with you here Sprite. And being told how many votes your story or poem has helps with the Comps because we don't know how many votes we've gotten until it closes so we won't know if we qualify or not until it might be too late. While some members don't have to worry too much about this... some of us (like myself) do worry we won't qualify with the minimum 10 votes.

i have many peeps blocked , and being that i cant see half the posts here , I would say I am blocked alot by mostly woman i dont know who the frig they are..but I am not here for being Miss popular, by far...........feel free to block away.........Have a great day , who ever can see this

Clearly you have no clue how the block works. If you can't see what someone has posted it's because YOU have them blocked... not the other way around. Check with Gav if you don't believe me.

I have one member blocked... maybe two... but typically those who I might consider blocking usually have their accounts deleted because they were douche bags in the first place.

Can everyone stop messaging me and posting about this bug please! lol.

I messaged Gav last week about it. He's snowed under and will get to it when he can. I should have posted earlier in here, but I've been very busy too.

A note - all members placed in the Top 10, whether they have a runner-up or winner badge, should also get the Top 10 badge (seeing they were in the Top 10!).

I manually gave around 140 members a "Competition Top 10 badge last week. Only 25 are showing. It looks like the manual allocation of them, didn't take, and only those automatically generated (when the competition had a Top 10 automatically created), are listed.

This will be fixed up shortly.

Now that we know the problem is being addressed... we are all good. I think it was just the not knowing what was going on that was the biggest stress.

I love that movie and had no idea it was originally a book... I need to find that.

my badge came and went. kinda like menfolk do. i'm very sad.

Yeah... it was there for a moment... so I'm hoping it's because they are working on the counts for the number of times we've placed. I know I've made Top 10 a few times. I still say this is a great idea and will really help those of us who have only made Top 10 some well deserved recognition.

I responded again for the same reason you responded again I guess.

If you say you know how to preview it than that's fine of course, but in your earlier post (the one I linked) you described a method that's not really a preview, unlike the one that DirtyMartini mentioned.

Clearly the one who doesn't read is you, or else it should have been clear to you that I used Google instead of scrolling back 148 pages (I am in fact rather lazy).

"Move on"/"get over it", whatever. You should know by now that it's easier to do so yourself, even though that's hard enough, than to make others do so.

I responded to Simmerdownchick because I agree it's something that would improve the site overall. I never said I was too lazy to do what the awesome DirtyMartini had mentioned... the lazy comment was because you had acknowledged you were too lazy to change your sig and repeated it again here (I bolded it for you so you don't miss it) about Googling... clearly you feel the need to prove how wrong you truly are. I agreed with Simmerdownchick... you were the one who stuck his nose into this one.

I also said it was a hassle, as have others, to check your sig this way... but you failed to read what I wrote yet again. Then later you acknowledge that I do know how to do this (again... your acknowledgement) so you are simply trying to pick a fight with me with your selective reading skills. If you don't like the suggestion... then fine... you don't like it... but stop being an ass about it. Simmerdownchick and I feel it's a good suggestion and instead of adding something productive... you're basically trying to start a fight and since Sprite told YOU to find somewhere else to argue... I suggest you take her sage advice.

I will stand by my suggestion and if Gav or Nicola say it's a no-go... then so be it. Either way, it won't be up to Noll.

I do that (see, not too lazy, since you brought it up) but it's kinda a pain. Don't get your tail in a waddle, it's up to Gav whether he wants or can do it or not.

It would be nice, though....

Thank you, btw, Gav you work hard for us and we appreciate you!

He can't help but get his "tail in a waddle" (I loved that btw) and you are correct... it is ultimately up to Gav.

When we teach "Echo & Narcissus" in 7th grade, we talk about how the "selfie" is a reflection of Narcissus' curse. This image really echos that in ways I can't describe... but I do thank you for sharing this.

This just made me laugh.

I think a forum sig preview option would be great. Yes, there are workarounds (in addition to a test preview post you can also just have another window open to a current forum post and refresh it after updating your sig), but it would great to have it right there. (Being able to save sigs in their entirety for later use would be nice as well).

Agreed and I like the idea of saving the old forum sigs. However, I'll just take the preview for now if that's all Gav can give us.
