I totally agree with all this - although I'd add that I'm just as happy to get an RR as an EC. Both are an honour - I just wish they'd been around four years ago when I started writing!

But I did find it interesting looking at the Comp awards, where the process is clearly a bit different, since the awards for the "honourable mentions" are all made when the results are announced (or very soon afterwards).

I think that is because they don't want people to know who made Top 10 any sooner than when the results are released. Too often the rumor mill will start making claims about who did and didn't win, make Top 3, and make Top 10.

Trust me... I still get emotional when one of my stories earns an RR and one day... one day... I will earn an EC.

Interesting to note how the awards for the "runners-up" have changed over the last few comps!

For this one, No4 has been given an "Editor's Choice" badge (like the 3 winners); the next four have a "Recommended Read", while the bottom two (9 &10) have nothing.

For the "Historical Erotica", both 4th and 5th place got the EC, and the bottom 5 all got RRs - so the quality was obviously higher for that comp!

For "Money Talks", only the 3 winners got ECs, and the next 7 all got RRs.

For "This is Hardcore", Nos 4 and 5 got an EC, while 6-9 got RRs. And someone must have really liked no 10, because that has an EC too!

For "Some Like It Hot", no 4 got an EC, 5-8 got RRs, while 9&10 got nothing again.

"Morning After..." was clearly not quite up to the usual standard, because although no 4 got an EC, only 5-7 got RRs; the next 4 got nothing (there was a final list of 11)

That's enough stats for tonight...

Some Mods will go back and and give a comp entry an RR if they felt the story was worthy. An EC is a tougher prize to earn and if the EC panel feels that a story, even a losing comp story (and by losing, I mean not a top 3 story) is worthy, it will be awarded said award. Even stories that don't make the top ten can be awarded an RR or an EP if the Mods feel the story is worthy. My entry in the Historical Erotica didn't make top 10 but one Mod felt it was RR worthy.

These comps are tough and sometimes making 4th place and only getting an RR can be frustrating for some. But remember, an RR means someone thinks your story was really good. An EC means a few other agreed with that.
I DVRd all the episodes of I Am Cait and watched them. I was so afraid it was going to be a spin-off of the Kardashian's show that I was hesitant to watch at first. However, I do think that the majority of the episodes did bring a necessary light to the real issues that transgender people face. Now, some think Cait is prettier than his step-daughters and others don't. Personally, I think Cait looks happier and has found a level of peace within herself that reflects in her appearance. I don't personally think any of the Kardashian girls are all that pretty.

I know some blame the Kardashian women for why Bruce became Caitlyn. Personally... I think Caitlyn was always there and now she can be the woman she wants to be. It's one thing for a man to just wear a dress, it's another to take the necessary steps to physically change. Caitlyn is in the process of this like many other transgender people are doing. I hope this new awareness will bring forth more understanding.
I've never had a story idea come to me faster than when I saw the theme for this comp. I can't wait to see the different ideas people come up with. I think Nicola came up with a home-run of an idea here. Plus... it's not restricted to just Christmas. Good luck everyone!

feel free to send me stuff if you'd like. cash is nice. pretty girls dressed up like kitties is even nicer, though.

Here you go Sprite & Merry Christmas.

or i'll get it and add lots of stuff you never intended to write. watersports are always fun to slip in to unsuspecting writers stories.

You only work to make me a better writer Sprite. And for that I love you.
I reread my stories from time to time. Really depends on why. If I'm writing a follow-up story, then I need to remember what the characters had done before so I don't fuck up the new story. Sometimes I get the urge to reread on old one... and thus I find a typo I've missed. I'll resubmit it and the awesome Mods get back up in no time.

I find rereading my older pieces helps me see my own personal evolution in writing. I see how I've improved, how I've used that idea before, or a character name (I try not to repeat older names if I can help it.) Plus... like Bethany... I'm my biggest fan as I always write stories I want to read.

Really? This is a serious discussion? This site has a few firm but fair rules governing what is allowed and not allowed. Consenting adults and no one is getting hurt or threatened, that pretty much covers it.

I enjoy seeing the wide variety of sexual fantasies represented at this site. I think that the tolerance for sexual interests that differ from our own is one of the strengths of this site. Accepting and even celebrating our differences is something we should all strive to do. It makes for a richer, more interesting world.

If the desire to block another writer's work from your homepage is purely personal...well, that's not even worthy of consideration.

It is very much a serious discussion. Some don't like what a specific author writes. Some have had such issues with a member/writer on this site that even seeing their stories on the home page bother them. Now, as far as stories goes... if category/genre really bothers me... I can (and have in the past) used the "Hide Category" option (and trust me... it works just fine.) The issue with the forum isn't that the block hasn't helped... but when a person who goes out of his or her way to quote someone they know has blocked them just to piss them off. Hence why I have asked a few times about this block extending to the timeline. If I've taken the effort to block someone who bothers, offend, or is just someone I no longer want to hear anything from... then seeing their nonsense in my timeline isn't helping.

The author of this thread asked a serious question. Honestly, I don't read stories because of who wrote it... unless it's an author I'm already following... I read stories because they catch my eye and my interest.

And I'll never block Milik... he writes some great stories and some kinky shit.
I read the books, but I haven't seen the movie... yet. Now that it's on HBO I just might watch it. My issue with the books isn't the BDSM elements... it was the piss poor character development. Christian is an immature petulant ass who is spoiled and must always have his way. Ana is a spineless wimp who can't stand up for herself for shit, let's Christian call the shots, and is made to fell like shit when she tries to do things her way.

I get she's madly in love with him and he falls for her as well, but really, it takes both of them three books to somewhat evolve... and I stress the somewhat. He might be amazing in business, but he sucks in personal relations. I get he was abused before he was adopted, I get he was taken advantage of by an older woman, but for fuck's sake... if he really loves this woman (Ana), then he should have pulled his head out of his ass way sooner than he does. No woman likes to be treated like a child ALL THE FUCKING TIME. Yet... she accepts this as normal.

There is a huge difference between role-play, BDSM sex play, and being hell bent on being a petulant, immature asshole. Maybe if Ms. James had done a bit more with her character development, people wouldn't trash her writing so much.
It's a Wonderful Life (1946)

George attend's Harry's high school graduation party and is reintroduced to Mary. They get into a dance contest... and well... I'll let you watch the scene that I love the most. Oh, and for those who didn't know... Jimmy Stewart wasn't supposed to continue dancing... but he just kept going and it's why Donna Reed was laughing so hard. Oh... and "Mary's date"... is Alfalfa (from the original Little Rascals) all grown up.

I think once you block a person, everything about that person should be blocked, you dont see anything about them and they dont see you. That includes, forum, stories, post, everything.. Its like they dont exists any more.

I couldn't agree with you more. Let's be real... not dealing with anything from anyone you've taken the effort to block should be all encompassing. If a person chooses not to use the block for a member, there is still the category "hide" option.

The more I see it the more fascistoid it looks though

So it's back to Daffy polishing his car for me.

Oh and some titties to calm down Dani:

Good calls all across the board.
1. Teachers - It's really truer than most people think

2. Dirty Dancing - Because nobody puts Baby in the corner

3. The Blues Brothers - I'm on a mission from God & I need an awesome soundtrack

4. Honeymoon in Vegas - I spent my honeymoon here... though we didn't get to see the Flying Elvises - Utah Chapter, it was still awesome!

5. Ever After: A Cinderella Story - Strong woman who overcomes so much to win the heart of her prince charming

Sure this is possible. As others suggest its similar to the block categories concept.

We really need a tool where suggestions and ideas from the community can be voted on, which feeds into my priorities.

In Spock's memorable quote, "The Needs of the Many Outweigh the Needs of the Few".

Gav is the ultimate geek! He quotes Spock and even changed the ugly gear into our profile pics (yes... I just saw this tonight.) This is why he is so awesome!!!

If Gav were willing to do this (and I stress the word if,) then it should be connected to the block already in place that had been extended to the forum since it's most likely that if you didn't want to see a person's stories... you already don't want to see whatever they write in the forums as well. Personally... I'd just like to see the block extended to our timeline so when you block someone & they quote you... you don't see their nonsense.

If it's an issue of categories... that block is already in place and has been for some time. Case in point... until Lush decided to do away with it... I had the category blocked, so I never saw those stories except when I was on a friend's profile page. If I accidentally clicked on a blocked story (which I did once) I'm reminded that I've got that category blocked.
1. An international best-seller.

Starts with 'In the beginning'. The Bible

2. About a strange population.

Written by an Australian, posing as an Italian. Okay... I got nothing here. I'm curious to find out the answer.

3. A negative medical practitioner in the West Indies.

It became the first movie in an incredible series. Dr. No

4. In Victorian England, a bumbling Inspector continued to raise his ire.

The house where he was supposed to live is still there, but he never lived there. Sherlock Holmes: A Study in Scarlet

1. Is too easy. Yes it was. 2. Is for the Australians. Proof I'm not an Australian 3. Is for the original book readers. Good movie 4. I thoroughly enjoyed all his cases. It was... elementary my dear Watson (and yes I know this line was never really used.

In the future... I hope those who respond can do so in an adult manner.
Have you checked your Spam or Junk folder? For a very brief time I had my notifications sent to my folder until I told my email provider those messages were not Sometimes when a email provider is updated... they forget what you've approved in the past.
It was called The Blonde Next Door. The premise was a woman who leaves her husband because he can't make her cum and she's fucked by a guy who gives her a ride (she was hitchhiking) and he makes her cum hard (he ate her out.) Later, he fucks his secretary who can't keep her hands off of him. He realizes the woman he fucked earlier has pussy juices act as an aphrodisiac with women and after fucking the woman again (a gangbang as I recall)... they bottle her pussy juice and sell it to men who basically fuck every women they come in contact with.

It left me thinking all porns had a plot line (I learned much later they actually don't) but it did turn me on.

Could closed groups ("by invite only") get an aditional marker, like a lock similar to password protected chat rooms, to make it clear they're closed?
Thx.

I've only glanced at the groups and joined a select few so I didn't know some could be "closed" or private. However, seeing this suggestion makes a lot of sense and I'm sure Gav can come up with a simple solution.

for tying up the voting lines when she bent over to register all wanted to peek up her skirt

Hence why I wore my crotchless panties.

You got arrested for masturbating in the voting line as you looked up my skirt waiting & wanting to fuck me in the voting booth.

Try changing you name to Barbienymphwriter .. see if that works.

I am thinking SimplyKen myself.

If I get desperate enough I just might. In the meantime I'll try what some of the other fine folks here do... change the way my profile page looks from time to time. I've got Christmas covered... who knows what I'll do for New Year's Eve or Valentine's Day.

The Laundry List. i've spoken on it before, but i'll do so again.

the laundry list is when someone starts out a story thusly:

Her name was Bridget. She had blonde hair, blue eyes, weighed 134 pounds, was 5'6' tall, and had 36DD boobs.

you get the idea? a story starts like that an i am done with it.

I never realized how elementary this was until you pointed this out. You are so correct that this is a distraction and takes away from the story. I'd only add the unbelievable man with a dick longer than his arm who can fuck for hours.
Train robbery... stealing ladies panties right off their bodies (and after pleasing them as well.)
