Congrats! 68K is not a shabby number. Mine is only at 27K so I've got a long ways to go. Honestly, I don't mind. I'm happier when people read my stories.

Glibness/Superficial charm: No... I'm pretty real despite what some might say about me.
Grandiose sense of self worth: Grandiose? No... but I do think I'm worth a lot more than I give myself credit for.
Cunning/Manipulative: Okay... I'll own this one... but I use my skills to get my students to do more than they thought they could in the first place.
Pathological lying: Um... NO! I did tell my son Santa Claus was real... but really... what parent doesn't? I try to not lie to my students... but I will knowingly not tell them something if I feel they do not need to know or worry. Honestly... I suck at lying.
Lack of remorse or guilt: Yeah... NOT! I feel guilt when I do things that I know are wrong. Hence why I suck at lying.
'Shallow Affect' Genuine emotion is short lived and egocentric: Um... no. My "genuine emotion" is never short lived.
Callousness/Lack of empathy: While I've hod my "bitchy" moments, and I'll totally own them... I'm not callous nor do I lack empathy. People who truly know me, now this is true.
Failure to accept responsibility for one's actions: While I might fight this one at first, I do accept my responsibility for my actions... especially when they cause others pain.
So... bottom line... I guess I'm pretty normal... but I can go from zero to bitch when pushed.

The employer will use the line that they want to "weed" out unsuited candidates. The ones who are really interested will apply. Now... dig a bit deeper and there's so much more. Some have a union forcing their hand to "fly" the job to all qualified candidates. Some will "fly" the job because their bosses want them to do so, then fill the job with a "friend" or family member.
I'm sorry you got screwed out of what sounds like your perfect job. Their loss! I'm sure you're a kick-ass employee they would have love to have working there. Don't give up hope... a better job will come along.
