What did Lyfbuz do now?

I am a member of the "I Married a Canadian too" club.

Woohoo! I knew I liked you!

we're exporting you. and charging a tariff.

Well shit! Hope you're willing to take that tariff in Canadian pennies because that's what I'm paying you in.

I like this. I have thought a lot about this, and I had suggested 10,000 for famous at some point (but I don't think in this, the relevant forum). To be fair though, the reason I said 10,000 is that I have a poem that is over 5,000.

I actually have some ideas regarding other badges, and this seems like as good a moment as any to find out if anybody else thinks some of these are good ideas. I tried to do name suggestions for as many as I could think of. I also did a little analysis of some of the stuff I think is good about them and some things I think have the potential to cause hassle, but that seemed like overkill for this post.

Anyway, the list:

• Influencer OR Leader - 100+ followers
• Legendary Influencer/Leader - 1000+ followers

• Conversation Starter - Began 100 threads in the forums.
• Pollster - Began 50 polls in the forums.
Opinionated - 200 posts in group discussions.

• Versatile Author - Member has written in 50% of Lush categories.

• Lush Elder (???) - Active member for 10 years.

Voting Booth - 1000 total votes on stories/poems
• Famous Poem - Poem with 10,000+ views
• Legendary Poem - Poem with 30,000+ views
• Six Figures OR Famous Author - 100,000+ story views
Well Read - Authored a story or poem with 100+ votes.

Some great ideas here. I added some suggestions for the ones you had ??? for.

And let's not forget naughtyannie's suggestion for the poetry... I think she's got a great idea there.

Let’s hear it for poetry!

There are currently badges for Famous and Legendary Stories, for 30,000 and 100,000 views. These days, it’s quite hard to get 30,000 hits, let alone 100,000, and only the best writers (or those whose stories have been around for years) can aspire to get the latter.

But poems just don’t get the same sort of readership, despite there being some very good ones out there. The most-read love poem has 100,000 views, but that’s a freakish (and suspicious) outlier.

Wouldn’t it be a great idea to have equivalent badges for Famous and Legendary Poems, setting the bar appropriately lower than for prose? I’d suggest something like 5,000 views for Famous Poem and 10,000 for Legendary.

What do people think?

I think there's some merit to this and I hope it's considered and I'm not much of a poet.
Congratulations TrinityX! You've always been a wonderful Mod and a great person to chat with.

Truly a well deserved and way overdue award. Thank you Gav for all you've done!

funny cos it's true lol

Okay... I so need this candle.
Just saw Won't You Be My Neighbor?

If you were a fan of the show, Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, you'll most likely enjoy this film.

I am not your sounding board especially when you bitch at me about shit from 10+ years ago that I wasn't a part of nor could I have done anything about because you didn't bother to talk to me when the situation was happening. Don't fucking justify your pissy-ass bullshit because the only time you're happy is when you're bitching and complaining about something.

I know you'll never admit you are wrong. Just know I can also choose to not listen to your bullshit any longer as well. Who you are in my life won't make a fucking difference.

I hope you did not think I was implying you were crowding the truck ... certainly not my intent. Over the course of driving in excess of 1 1/2 million miles, I’ve had a few tires blow out with a BANG!! ... and it always startled me. But the worst tire caused accident I was involved with was a lady passing me and her RR tire blew out and she lost control and turned over several times. Fortunately she was not severely injured and her teenager son was OK. Their pup dog didn’t survive.

Please give the big rigs all the room you can???. It’s not an easy job. What ultimately made me retire was seeing so very many cell phones texting while in heavy fast traffic. Be safe!!

Yeah... that BANG was terrifyingly loud and a sound I won't soon forget. I'm very grateful that both myself and the driver of the other vehicle were able to control our respective vehicles.

Oh yeah, my husband drove a truck for a short period of time. I learned about respect for those who must drive those big rigs. I hated how he was gone for weeks at a time. He quit because he found more local work and eventually became a plumber. Now, he's home almost every night (except when he's on call, then all bets are off.)

Please believe me ... it’s scary for the truck driver too when that happens. I’m was always just happy / relieved when I realized my blown tire was NOT a steer tire as there could be severe control issues to deal with too. Please don’t crowd the trucks ... for your own safety.

I wasn't trying to crowd the vehicle. At worst, I was passing them and I was still technically behind them, but off to their left. It was the left rear tire that went. I'm sure the guy in the other vehicle was also relieved that no one was hurt or that the tire's explosion (we heard it go BANG) caused an accident.

My husband did tell me after we were safely away how proud he was of my ability to keep calm and avoid the tire fragments (and they were pretty big fragments.) Though, he did laugh as I had to pry my fingers off the steering wheel (damn death-grip).

Holy Crap. Just like the movies. Good save.

Reminded me of a time I was driving next to a semi, just a little back in the adjacent lane. A family of geese decided to cross
the highway right in front of the truck. I still have that awful vision of the slaughter and can still hear one goose hit the side of
my vehicle. It happened so fact. If either of us braked, we would have caused a multi-car pile-up. You reacted to avert, we
had to quickly decide not to. Sigh.

Shared some fries and a coke with my kids after spending a couple hours at a splash park. I didn't hoard the junk food to myself.

Yeah... to say my nerves were shot is an understatement. I can feel the tightness in my shoulders now from it. I should add (because I totally forgot) that the driver of the van or vehicle (it looked like a van but might have been one of those work vehicles that look sort of like vans) also kept his cool and didn't flip over or lose control either. While the freeway was fairly open and empty at the time (for a Thursday afternoon/early evening), it could have been much worse than just flying tire rubber and shot nerves.

If you really want less drama in the forums, repeating "save your hate" when someone just thinks your suggestion makes no sense doesn't help. There's no hate in my post, just an opinion about what you suggested.

That wasn't aimed at you specifically... however, if you took it that way... that's on you.
Quote by honeydipped
you took it to mean "drama in the forums" when it could have pretained to chat rooms or private messages. both issues that can easily be solved with a block.

Yes... I took it to mean that becasue that was pretty much what it was about. Though... to be fair... Jen didn't say it wasn't in the forums either and yes... too often it is seen this in the forums. I can't speak for the chat rooms as I don't go into those.

My suggestion was to strengthen the current block and help cut-back the nonsense from certain members. Clearly it wasn't aimed at you... unless you took it that way.
Stayed on the road and avoided the exploded tire on the freeway as it blew right in front of me.

a block that only blocks people whose name starts with "N". Noll. Nymphwriter. Nicola...

Maybe one for names that end in X as well: Magical_felix, Seax, DamonX ;)

Nah, you'd miss us.

Ironic that Noll mentioned some of the sites biggest...

Whatever.

I made a suggestion and of course... no one reads the part about saving their hate. I can't say I'm all that surprised. When a Mod has to post a new thread to remind people about the block feature due to drama in the forums... Please use the block function... maybe a little something more needs to be done. All I did was make a suggestion in regards to that. Nothing more. I mentioned no names whatsoever on purpose. I even made a suggestion that wouldn't infringe on anyone's experience except the person who uses the block feature.

Again, save your hate. If you don't agree, then you don't agree. You have that right.
