Peanut butter, I prefer smooth. I can pretty much eat any nuts except walnuts... sadly I'm allergic to them.

Hmmm. Think that could be because you're an amazing writer too? Personally, I suspect that's the reason.

Thank you. Now if I could just figure out how to actually make the Top 3...

Congratulations Verbal the Dudemeister on First Place! And to Delphi and Hannah on 2nd and 3rd in a very tough competition due to so many outstanding entries.

And congrats to the honorable mentions rounding out the Top 10: Green_Man, Ping, DanielleX, AbigailThornton, Nymphwriter, Annamagique, and TXSwinger.

Thanks to all who entered. What a great competition.

OMG! I'm in the Top 10 with some amazing writers!!!
I knew when I read the top three they would win, but I can't believe I made the top 10. I told you Verbal you'd win and I was right! I knew Delphi and BrownCoffee had such strong stories that they had to make the top three. I'm just flattered that I'm in the top ten with you and the others. Actually... I'm shocked!

Where it used to say for instance "simplyjohn has quoted you on the forum topic Thread locked." where the thread's name would link to the post in which you were quoted, it now just says "so-and-so has quoted you on the forum topic ."
According to my timeline this change was introduced around 9-12 days ago. Mentions from before that time still have the link, later ones don't.

Today was the first time since the last "update and glitch" that I've been quoted in the forum and you are correct, the link to the thread you were quoted in is missing. I'm sure it's a minor glitch that Gav can easily fix.

Good catch, Noll.

A few people have noticed that buttons are missing / they don't have access to certain areas they used to.

It's because you need a new forum cookie.

I did run into this, but the problem I had was it said my password wasn't valid so I had to reset it to get it to work. Not sure if other have had this exact problem, but if they do, they might need to reset their passwords.
Wow! The more I read of the comp entrants... the more I don't envy the judges. I swear each story gets better and better and I fear my chances are getting slimmer and slimmer. If only my stomach and thighs could get slimmer instead.

Good luck everyone!
Run into the same guy as you enter the gym and later at the local grocery store. It works better when one of you harasses the other about entering the "wrong way" (yeah, like there's a wrong way) and needing a good steam.
I was more than pleasantly surprised how quickly my comp entry was verified and I'm very appreciative. However, maybe submitting at near midnight didn't hurt. Who knows. I'm just grateful the Mods do such a good job of getting our stories... especially the comp entries.

Thank you all!
1. Beauty & the Beast
2. Star Wars: The Last Jedi
3. Wonder Woman
4. Logan
5. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
When a good idea keeps me up at night, haunts my dreams, and clouds my mind, I find the time to write it down. Then I walk away, come back, and edit the shit out of it becasue like Delphi, my first drafts are a mess.

When it's a comp entry, it really becomes a struggle especially if there is a word limit. Figuring out a way to say what needs to be said without losing the punch of the story or fucking up the ending becomes the real challenge. Sometimes I'm really happy with what I wrote... other times no matter what anyone says, I'm not fully satisfied. Those I rarely publish unless I really feel what others are telling me are correct and what I'm stressing over is just my own insecurities.

It ain't over yet. We'll see what happens when I do the first read in a few days. I've only got 100 some-odd words to play with, so if anything's missing, it could be a problem.

I've got faith in you! I'm not kidding about the numerous rewrites I had to do on my ending. Not to mention a tweak here and a tweak there. Hell, I came in with less that 50 words to spare. I hate cutting it that close, but in the end I'm very pleased with my final result and I'm very much looking forward to reading yours.

First draft squeaked in at just shy of 5900 words.

I feel your pain man. I had to rewrite my ending several times to get it to: 1) work right; and 2) come under the 6,000 word limit. So far the feedback has been good so I'm pretty sure I made the right decision. So cheers to us for making it work!
I know it's a bit on the edge, but Some Like it Hot really qualifies. It's ending is hysterical and controversial for its time. I now show the ending when I'm teaching epitaphs because of what Billy Wilder's tombstone says:

Spoiler alert... here's why I love the ending of this movie...

Somewhere In Time. He literally wills himself to die to be with her. You can't help but cry.

This! I love this movie and it's just so heartbreaking!

Not sure that's a valid argument...

OMG! We picked the same song with different results! Thanks for the laugh, Noll.NrZWSQu27OCBswrS
Unicorns. I have stuffed ones, figurines, prints, posters, a painting, two blankets, a table, jewelry, a Christmas ornament, and so many, many more. Even my cell phone case has a unicorn on it. Family and friends especially my son and my husband feed my habit (I mean collection.) My family and close friends swore Public Storage shot this commercial in my house (they didn't, but it was a running joke for a long time.)
