I've noticed titles, tags or changing the category don't need to go back through to the mods (I'm not sure about the one liner) but cover photos and of course any actual edits made on the story itself need to go through a mod.

Now that we have the ability to use the transparency thing, sometimes it can be hard to see. Also it would be nice if different sections were in different colors to highlight each paragraph or what-have-you. Sometimes bold and italic just don't cut it.

I've noticed this as well, a lot of chapter stories with less than 1k worth of words. Seems kind of silly to me. I wouldn't waste my time with a story/novel like that ever.
When/if I post a novel I try to put it at least 3.5k words, sometimes longer. Depending on how long the series is going to be. But 1k or less is just doing a bunch of Flash Erotica stories but as a novel. Which you're not allowed to do under Flash stories.
