Four on the first day and last day of an exhausting week in summer of 2001. Varied the rest of the week. Doing photo/video shoots for camgirl personal websites, and playing stunt cock for same. They were also reaping the benefits of guys wanting to see favorite girls who lived far apart in multi-girl shows for the first and only time, so it was nearly 24/7 naked women and girl on girl sex the whole week, even when one or more of them wasn't riding me/sitting on my face.

Half a dozen other threesomes that year.

The benefits of being with a bisexual camgirl and having the stars align
Yeah, but Disney is Disney. They can afford to toss billions at something that might work.

R-rated ( Touchstone ) and X-rated are light years apart as well.

The moment something goes 100% adult, it becomes infinitely more difficult to manage. First off, an app can't be made available in either of the official app stores, meaning it's going to have extremely limited usage by the general populace.

Generating revenue via ads and such becomes a living hell, fraught with the peril of bad actors infiltrating the ad networks with malware.

The list of speed bumps goes on and on. It's just not viable to create a 100% adult alternative.

I'm friends with a few popular cam girls and this is causing panic.

And totally agree with you that adult content is an easy target. I know it's not fool proof but if you age verify folks and market content appropriately then we can all just be adults and look or don't.

Tumblr let child porn hit their platform - they need to fix that problem and aggressively prosecute the criminals. But to overreact like this... is such a joke that I predict by April Fools day, Tumbler is NWFE (the E is existence).

Reading all the news on this today, I was actually thinking about Disney of all brands. Years ago (early 80's) they wanted to make non-G rated movies but were, rightfully, afraid of impacting their brand - so they created Touchstone Pictures for more mature-content movies. Believe it was a major success and let Disney keep things in tact with their branding. Why couldn't Tumblr do something similar? They have the platform - just duplicate it - keep "tumblr" non-nsfw and come up with a site/app called something else; branded differently, etc.
I wouldn't be shocked if Twitter starts restricting things as well. All the social media sites are in the crosshairs from regulatory agencies, and adult content is a soft target to attack for the purpose of getting the public on the side of regulation.

I've already seen the evidence of panic mode coming from camgirls, who all but depend on those platforms to direct fans as they move from site to site.
If you have a sequel ready to hit soon, that will probably increase the views accumulation significantly.

You could always post the views just before you post the sequel, and then again a week or so later to see how much the original accelerates. You already have a datapoint here for the now -> sequel release.

That's the stat geek in me, looking for more data to feed into my calculations smile

Oh, and views +1
Everybody would lose the member's votes, comments, etc. There's little more depressing than watching your vote total go down.

A more elegant solution from the user side would be a "purge inactive members" function, allowing users to remove inactive people from their lists in one fell swoop, if they wish. The main user side complaint about this seems to be searching through the lists in order to thin the herd. This would be a nuclear option that would solve that.

If it needs to be done for reasons of space/speed, it should probably only be done with non-authors if at all possible. Giving up product probably isn't a good trade for a few bytes or server tics.

Not a bad idea. I can see the reasons for doing so.

However someone contacted me recently, who's not been around for a long long time (a member for 10 years), and they were delighted we kept their profile going. If we'd deleted them, we would have lost all her stories, she'd have lost her friend list etc..
While this is my preferred usage, fairly widespread, and even set down as a grammar rule with some publishers, it is not universal.

It's even seen as incorrect by a not insignificant number of readers to use the "archaic" version of "come" instead of the modern "cum", for both noun and verb.

I've heard it argued that in time, cum will become the standardized verb, in order to distinguish it from the common, non-sexual usage. That comes from people who use "come" as the verb, and prefer it that way, but see the transformation as almost inevitable. Their argument and examples make sense.

I'm fairly certain Lush doesn't discriminate against "cum" used as a verb or "come" used as a noun, either. This reads almost like a rules post, rather than a preference, so I thought I'd say something.
The only time I've ever heard ASMR mentioned is by people saying they use it to wind them down to fall asleep.

That's not exactly the reaction you're hoping to get when writing erotica. LOL
I'm with Sprite on this one. I think she might just have some inkling of how the story mods and management think about categorization. LOL

It's not physical contact, so is the right place for it. Considering how many stories during the hiatus of the full-blown category were dancing on the line, or straight-up rewrites of stories with step- appended, people should know that the kink appears in that category, so they can use tags to avoid it, if it gives them the heebie-jeebies.

The bulk of the readership for the category expect the relationships to be full blood, preferably nuclear family, with full-on sex. This kind of story would be considered pseudo and watered down to that readership. It's not what they're looking for.

Now, if this ends up being a chapter 1 of an ongoing series, where that physical, blood relation stuff will eventually happen, that's a different ball of wax. In that case, I think is a perfectly appropriate category, as it will get to what the readers expect in time.
I'm not likely to write any flash outside of contests requiring it, or by pure chance that something ends up less than the limit and doesn't fit in any other category, but I'm for leaving it. I've seen 1000 as the upper limit on quite a few flash story categories/etc. and it seems pretty standard.
Canned spinach. ( Or the same preparation ) Perfectly fine with putting it raw in a salad, but Popeye can get fucked.
There are really only two options for me. A) None. B) Mullens Imitation French. Yes, that's a specific brand and flavor. I've found absolutely nothing else that I like.

Not surprisingly, Mullens is what I grew up on.
That's surprising. I suppose my success rate could be attributed to diligence. Once I see work I recognize, I often dig through the previews of every work on the plagiarizers page, google search reasonably unique phrases, and report them all with links as well. They're almost all inevitably stolen from free sites as well.

I have seen them nuked after a single report on a single plagiarized work, though.

I do know for certain that there are some Amazon programs that absolutely require that the work not be available anywhere else for a cheaper price. Those have a specific selection to report them for that reason.

I've fiddled with the idea of publishing mine for years. I used the excuse that I didn't have a Paypal account, and no desire to set one up for most of that time. Now I've had to get one for another reason, so that excuse is out the window.

So, I'm leaning on it being too much trouble to create new covers appropriate for retail in the obscene sizes they demand, when cover images with those dimensions aren't displayed anywhere.

From what I've heard from reasonably successful authors, the key is long term, consistent production. Having your name out there on a regular basis keeps attracting new eyes, and builds trust/loyalty with those who have found you. Eventually you hit a critical mass where there's enough word of mouth to make you a reasonable amount of folding money for fun, though certainly nothing you can live off of.

I've got an existing catalog that could probably keep me in weekly releases for at least a year, including full novel-length stories. Just never able to summon up sufficient motivation to go through with it.

Every time I think about it, the hobby starts feeling like work.

I got a notice/warning saying my work was found elsewhere on the web for free, but all I had to do was declare the content was written by me. Way less complicated than I figured. I still have stories on sites I never submiitted to, but I am not gonna go to the bother of trying to take it down.

As to whether there is money to be had, I am guessing it's pretty slim pickings, but I will find out in about 3 months.
Apparently, my math was off. I assume by one. Guess prolific will happen with whatever the next story I post in a new category is.
I'm just going to take a moment to jump for joy because Agents of Shield has been renewed for a season 7 before the first episode of season 6 has even aired

After all the nail-biting, last second renewals, it's nice to have news super early. I suspect it's the first move in a strategy to draw the fanbase over to the streaming service, which will probably involve more concrete crossover with the movies and potentially the Netflix series.
Are you sure you didn't transpose the the 8 and 9 in your head when you were looking at it earlier? That's an easy enough mistake to make — even multiple times. Five digits seems to be where the brain's tendency to take shortcuts kicks in when reading numbers.

I don't know why they would adjust view counts, and even if they did, I think I would have seen it somewhere in my own numbers.

Advertise them in your signature, and give them a shout-out on Twitter/Facebook/Etc. It's not a huge boost, but every little bit helps when you're that close. If you really want to push them, and have an idea for one, write a sequel, parallel story, or something similar, and link back to the original. For a lesser boost, anything new in the same category can attract new reads to the older story. For that matter, any new work posted should bring reads on your whole story file.
LOL

Well, now that I look at the actual contest page, I see the end date is all the way out there on the 30th of next month.

I'll keep blinking back to the image every so often. If I can come up with a workable concept in the next couple of weeks, it might still be feasible.

Maybe I need to shift my headspace out of the real world and over to fantasy... Hmm...

A few days earlier than usual, but I wanted to hit a data point. I have three new stories that are going to hit very soon ( one already out ) and I want to see how that affects the monthly views next month.

All three of these new stories are in new categories, and I believe it will bring me up to the 80% of categories that earns me the prolific writer badge smile

Yeah, my prediction about nothing new coming out here turned out the monumentally wrong. LOL I blinked through a few stories and ideas in progress, and they started flowing.
Amazon will remove an Ebook from listing if it is discovered to be available elsewhere for a cheaper price. Free certainly qualifies as cheaper, so any story published on Lush could get the book removed from listing.

( As a side note, if you find your work for sale under someone else's name on Amazon, this is often the quickest and most reliable means to get it removed. Link to your story on the original free site when you report it, and don't even mention copyright. They're wishy-washy about copyright claims, but quick to nuke something that hurts their profits )

Going with Kindle Unlimited creates even more restrictions. It's a personal decision, but if you have any thought of diversifying to other venues such as Smashwords, going with Unlimited can be very detrimental to your bottom line. Amazon is also notorious for burying erotica, and seems to come up with new ways to further hide it every few months. You could very well find yourself stuck in an exclusivity agreement with your work that generates no sales when the next wall goes up.
That image is evoking far too long of a story in my head, no matter how I try to twist, turn, or compact it.

There's too much for me to unpack within the word limit on this one, I'm afraid.
As predicted, Stocking Stuffer crossed the 30k threshold today, bringing me up to 12 famous stories.

Barring some surges or a new story going gangbusters, that will probably be it for several months. The next crop has been varying from February to April for a famous date.

I'll probably still update this once a month just to see how different factors affect the monthly view numbers.
"Her Own Skin" broke through today to become my 11th famous story smile #12 should hit in a couple of weeks.
Oddly, despite putting out nothing new for around two months now, my views ticked up for the month.

Nude Holly Day 75109 | 76069 | 77220 | 78282 = 793/m = Feb. 2021

Her Own Skin and Mom's Stocking Stuffer will almost certainly pass the threshold in the upcoming month, giving me my #11 and #12 famous story.

After that, it looks like I may be getting three birthday presents in April, with the way the views hashed out this month.

Could be interesting to see how things change once I get back in the swing of putting out new work. In addition to playing games, I've been struggling with my bar of plausibility on several ideas I had in the works. I keep hitting roadblocks where things are creeping below that bar, and thus leaving me unsatisfied. More than one has gone back to formula, while others have been backspaced significantly.

I'm probably going to switch gears to fantasy work for a little while. Odds are none of that will end up getting posted here, because it performs so poorly it's not worth the effort to submit.

So, it will be a while before anything new comes out here, barring flashes of inspiration. ( Which I do have once in a while )

We'll see how things look next month. As always, feel free to click the links and help push any of these stories over the bar, or explore my listings for anything else that strikes your fancy.
Tried Langoliers, The Stand, and one other that I can't even remember. Never make it more than a couple of chapters into anything by King. There's just something about his writing style that completely turns me off.

Despite still considering fantasy to be my homebase for writing, and being a DM for years, and still playing RPGs, I've never even opened the cover of Tolkien. I have no reason not to read it. I just haven't. I've looked at it on physical and digital shelves more than once, but never picked it up.

Always makes people stare at me like a cow looks at an oncoming train when they know me from my fantasy work.

And of course the more hits/views/reads you have, the more chance there is that a few of those aren't going to like it quite so much.

Yep. The more eyes there are on a story, the more likely you are to get the "liked it, didn't love it" 4 vote.

I HAVE TWO AF STORIES,but I finf it strange that one of them has the second lowest score of any of my 200+ stories

Well, it's views. That's just eyeballs. The right title, tagline, and keywords could attract attention from folks who were looking for something similar, but different.

Or, it could just be a troll being an asshat and bombing your score. LOL

What attracts attention ( and thus views ) is sometimes a mystery so divorced from the story that it's impossible to figure out.
"Mom's Second Chance" just crossed the threshold to become my #10 famous story. I have 6 between 28k and 30k right now.

If I'd finish something and get it out, it would probably help push others over the line.
I've pondered and abandoned four different ideas for this one. Not looking good.

Still one new idea brewing, but getting it from that stage to completion in the time allotted is a stretch — especially with a word count limit.
Slipping a little... LOL

I expected Her Own Skin to slow down, as it was too new. After a few weeks of zero releases, I also expected my overall numbers to decline for the month, and they did.

( I finally got around to playing Final Fantasy IV: The After Years. A little over two weeks for a playthrough and a New Game + playthrough to 100% the achievements. Thoroughly enjoyed. Extremely derivative sequel to the classic, but sat on the nostalgia side of the nostalgia nods / lazy developers line to me. Time well spent. Classic FFIV party substituting Ceodore for Edge, if anyone's curious. Substituting Dualcasting Porom for Rydia for the Lunar Bahamut fight. 4 Reflect castings per turn. Kain could actually survive an unprotected Megaflare, so he was last priority, and my spider silk hurler. Get two Adamant Shields. Mages can use them. Massive defense boost. )

But I digress.

We'll see how the numbers look after another month. As always, feel free to help them along by giving them a click and a read from the links above.
