At least we have sun here today. I no longer need to joke about forgetting what it is called. 5-10cm forecast for tomorrow. Oh well, my tea shipment came today and the Amazon shipment we have coming isn't due until Monday so I guess we have time to shovel if needed.

Soft pretzel. Not that I don't like the crunchy sticks and loops, but there's some really taste-tastic about the soft baked ones.

Chess or Go?

A story based on truth, definitely, and here is why. emotion. T

Sure. There's characters, settings, and situations in my stories that have resonance in my own life. Take a look at the stories in my sig. The first has little that is literally true in it, but is a situation I feel a connection to and the character has a bit of me in him. The second, on the other hand, is what my life could have been like (or I hope so) if I had been more aware and accepting of a certain part of myself earlier in life.

Anything She Does - Genesis

She Believes in Me - Kenny Rogers

Saw that in the Music Group and my first thought was that it was a Canadian Armed Forces Arctic patrol. Needs more beer, though.

Rare to happen but generally tortilla chips with some kind of dip.

Do you keep a very clean, tidy home?

Thing is, you can still make a fictitious story feel real if you play things right. Make the characters feel like real people. Don't wallow in tropes that feel artificial. Use life to inform the feel of your stories and characters even when the plot is pure fantasy. I didn't screw the minister's daughter in the woods when I was 17 but I was rather hot and bothered by our minister's daughter at that age. When I wrote my first Lisa and Alan story, I channeled some of that into the fantasy

I guess I have had a couple close calls but maybe not quite "life or death". I've heard my birth did not go well so maybe that but it's not like I remember it.

HYE done a test drive and ended up buying the car on the spot?

My heart says Camping but my back and joints say Glamping. sigh

Heavy metal or prog rock?

This ^^

I'm quietly convinced that the vast majority of "true" stories on here aren't.

A supposed true story that's poorly written is less appealing than a fictional tale that's well written, imo. So, no, true stories aren't universally more exciting. It depends on who wrote it and if they can transport me into the narrative and keep me there.

"Everybody lies."

-- Gregory House

Yeah, mostly what he says. Even the ones that are 100% true are likely embellished. The fact is that reality makes for bad fiction a lot of the time. If I only wrote true stories, I would have run out of stories years ago and they'd be even more vanilla than my stuff is now.

Sorry, I don't have an answer. Just wanted to pop in and say "Hi there". Long time no see. 😊

What’s up, Mr Ape? World got you down? I can understand if it does, but many of us are feeling the same way! Glad you popped in! ❤️

I have typed my retirement letter twice in as many days. Trying to hit the right balance between "the time is right" and "fuck our CEO and the horse he rode in on". Frustration with our corporate parent is basically the problem and I don't feel like dealing with the stress of that fracturing relationship for two more years, which I would be looking at if I stay on for the current big project. So, yeah, world's got me down.

Good afternoon. I am back. Maybe. Not that anyone probably noticed my absence. Just didn't feel a need to be here. Still not sure I do. We will see. Tea. Earl Grey. Black.

No question so I will hearken back to the last one asked.

What’s your favorite sandwich from a fast food place?

Don't get sandwiches much. Do wraps count? Because the Canadian chain Osmow's has great falafel and shawarma wraps.

Where is your favourite vacation spot?

Wow. You know you're doing something right when you can get a big enough field with a high enough quality level to have a top 15 instead of a top 10.

Congrats to all who made the short list and I bow in homage to the sheer awesomeness of the top 3.

Never hunted period and would only do so for food. Not a fan of sport hunting.

HYE maxed out your credit card unexpectedly other than due to being scammed?

Patience, grasshopper. This is Lush. These things come in time.

Too many genres of music to claim just one person. Gotta break it down.

Agreed. I have very broad tastes in music and therefore in guitarists. If I did a list it would probably be heavy on the blues end of rock because I like that sound for some reason but then you would have prog guitarists like Howe and Gilmour who lean into more of a jazz or sometimes even classical influenced sound. Or modern metal players who often hew to that diverse prog sound as to the bluesier one of early heavy metal players like Iommi and Blackmore. It is incredible how much great and diverse music has come out of that one instrument.

Like others, i don't really outline. Maybe I should.

It depends on what you are writing. IMHO short stories within this site's limit of 10,000 words, esp. flash and micro, don't need outlining. Notes on key points that you need to keep consistent should be enough if anything.

But if you're doing a series or novella/novel, then outlining helps ensure you know where are you are going and keeps things consistent.

My workflow is kind of:

Write, often spontaneously because an idea has struck me. I find stories that I spend time planning are the ones that stall.

Read and edit repeatedly to make sure everything flows and makes sense.

Proofread for any remaining spelling and grammar issues.

No, but that's at least partly because I don't go to many professional sports events. Even if I did go to sports events, it would be university or similar level given we don't have any pro teams where I live.

HYE had sex with a healthcare professional responsible for your care?

Scat or watersports for sure. Absolutely not for me. Probably not S&M in a serious way either. Pain and I don't get along well, either giving or taking. There might be more leeway on that one, though.

What fetish do you know you have but haven't had a chance to pursue/explore it with a partner yet?

Nope. Attracted to siblings? Sure. I knew some nice-looking families in my youth. Never actually slept with anyone from those families, though.

HYE walked away from a date midway through the date?

Wash the floors. Exercise. Doing some writing. Possibly shoveling snow later.

When was your last "hot date"?

Cliches are fine if you do something interesting with them or have interesting twists. Yes, they are boring when it is the same story over and over with different facea. But they should be approached as a challenge: how can I make this interesting again. After all, classic stories like "zero to hero" or "farnboy fulfills destiny" are cliched as hell but people keep finding new ways to tell or spin them that keep them alive.

Mom and pop. Fancy =/= good food in my experience.

Meditate or do yoga?

It has happened.

HYE met a relative of someone you were involved with and ended up in a relationship with that relative?
